Chapter 66

Chapter 66- The mafia's possession

He dropped the phone on the table in exasperation. Santos was instructed to charge the phone before bringing it in. Why is the phone still down?

Just then, a light flashed from the phone screen and the brand logo appeared. Quickly, he snatched the phone from the table and grabbed it hard in his hands. After a few seconds of waiting, the phone came on fully. Without wasting time, he started tapping the screen.

Checking her contact, he found nothing. Not even a single contact was on the phone. Does it mean she has nobody to call?

There should be contacts on her phone. Who walked around without having numbers saved in their phone? Not even family members. That's weird, he thought aloud.

He dropped the cigarette in the ashtray and continued going through her phone. He checked her gallery, she only had just two pictures of herself in it. Very strange.

Then a thought struck him, maybe she is the type who has numbers written down somewhere for easy reach or she has memorised these numbers. There must be something in here, then he checked her inbox. He leaned forward with interest when he found different texts in it.

Great!

He clicked the first one open and read through it like he was reading for an examination. It was just a simple text from network providers. His face fell in disappointment when after checking each message one after the other, he found nothing of importance.

Getting who was behind what happened would be a difficult one.

The early morning sun streaked into the room through the window that was open. Jacqueline opened her eyes and quickly covered it, shielding it from the rays of the sun.

After a few minutes, she sat up and stretched. She looked around, Alexander was not in the room. Her gown was folded neatly. She unfolded it and found out that the zip had been ruined.

Then her eyes fell on a t- shirt close to her. She quickly slipped it on. It was too large for her but she didn't mind putting it on. Since her gown was ruined, she doesn't mind putting this on.

Jacqueline fell back to his huge bed, she felt like going back to sleep. She was still sour from last night. He had ravaged her and she felt exhausted. She willed herself to get up, as she was about to slip out of the bed, her eyes caught sight of her phone on the side table.

She gasped and quickly took it from the table. She became terrified. Did he see the text between her and Chain?

Oh no! This cannot be happening! Knowing Alexander, he would have woken her up to demand for answers.

Maybe he was just being polite by waiting for her to wake up and then come out.

Her jaw dropped open. Not even the text she exchanged with Chain was on the phone. It was like her phone was an empty shell.

Did Alexander wipe her phone clean? She shaked her head in doubt. Like, why would he do that?

She quickly slipped out of the bed and took her gown. Then opened the door and stepped out. She quickly closed the door behind her. As she walked by, she froze in her tracks.

"Jacqueline, you look…..," granny Penelope's voice trailed off as she gave Jacqueline a once over. "Hold on, isn't that Alexander's t-shirt?," she questioned with a look of surprise on.her face.

Damn. What the hell just happened?

She wasn't even expecting to see Penelope at the moment. She racked her brain in search of a suitable lie. "Uhm, I fell into the pool so Alexander gave me his t-shirt to put on."

Penelope raised an eyebrow which almost touched her greying hairline. "Alexander, huh. Is that what you call him now?"

Shit. Double shit. It had slipped out of her mouth unknowingly. If she had known, she would have just kept calling him Mr. Vladimir.

As Penelope stood, her arms on her waist, looking at Jacqueline in surprise. Jacqueline became uneasy. Wow, give it little time and Penelope would discover she is fucking the boss.

What an unveiling! Soon everyone would know. She hated such attention with passion.

"Oh, I see," Penelope said as she shaked her head up and down slowly. "You fell into the pool?"

"Yes, granny Penelope," Jacqueline nodded.

"How come your hair is not wet?," Penelope questioned and then drew close and started touching her hair.

Jacqueline almost slapped herself for such a stupid lie. She should have come up with a better lie. Maybe something like; the shirt belongs to her. That would have been better and kept her away from Penelope's prying eyes.

Jacqueline laughed weakly trying to hide her uneasiness. "That's why we have towels. And hair dryers, right?"

Penelope's eyes twinkled in suspicion. "Your gown, it is very dry. Did you use towels on it too?"

Her throat went dry and she almost stumbled in shock. Her face turned bright red like tomatoes growing on a farm.

From behind, someone wrapped strong arms around her tiny waist laughing. She stiffened in pure shock.

Then Alexander whispered into her ears. "Relax, Jacqueline. She knows about us."

Granny Penelope's lips stretched into a beautiful smile. "Yea, he is right. I know what you two have been doing." When she saw how red Jacqueline's face was, a deep shade of red. Penelope raised her hands. "Not in that context. I mean to say that I am aware of your relationship with Alexander, he told me."

At that moment, Jacqueline's body heated up in anger. Alexander's laughter worsened how she felt. He stood beside her and dropped a kiss on her lips and she stood rigid without responding. "Yea, I told," he said as he placed his arms around her shoulder.

"You two look good together. Such a perfect couple," Penelope gushed. "Let me hurry to the kitchen, I left my chicken sauce on the stove top," Penelope said and walked to the kitchen.

Jacqueline removed his arm from her shoulder, burning up in anger.

"What is it? Did I say something wrong?
