Chapter 146
Jacqueline was a bit reluctant but as she pulled the blinds open, she noticed a black Maybach parked just a few blocks away from their house. Jacqueline raised a brow up in confusion as she texted the person back.
‘Who are you? And all I can see in that car is darkness’ Jacqueline replied, thinking whether she is taking this a bit far. What if it was an assassin trying to get her killed. She gladly let herself fall into the trap. She closed the blinds as she dropped her phone back on the bed. She looked at her naked body in the mirror with a sad smile, the baby was still in there and slowly getting noticeable. She had no idea how to reach Alessandro and she knew Romano wouldn't want to help her. He had disappeared those years ago, he didn't even show her a sign that he was alive.
Hearing her phone ding again, she turned to the window. She didn't want to take risks, considering the fact she had a little one in her stomach. She picked up her phone to see the mysterious man had answered.
‘Look outside again and don't be shocked by what you see’ The text read, throwing on her robe. She went to the window, opening it as she saw that masked man from earlier staring at her. She squinted her eyes as he blew her a kiss, she closed the window back, wondering if that freak was stalking her. She immediately dialed the number this time instead of texting.
“I have no idea who you are, but I don't have time for all these games” Jacqueline said as she hung up, she switched off her phone, throwing it in the corner of her room as she went back to dressing. As Jacqueline walked down the stairs, she went to the dining room to meet Jennie and Ariel there. She went up to Jennie kissing her cheek as the young lad immediately jumped on her sister.
“I thought I was going to have to stay here alone with miss grumpy pants” Jennie said, sticking her tongue out at Ariel who threatened to throw a service spoon her way. Jacqueline pulled out a chair for herself as she sat down. Ariel went around sharing the steaks along with side dishes, as they started eating, the sound of clattering plates and glasses filled the room.
“Ariel, I think I'm being stalked” Jacqueline said as Jennie went to the kitchen to take care of the dishes. Jacqueline wanted to tell Ariel what had been going on to avoid anything going wrong.
“You aren't being watched by her, it's either Alessandro sent a secret bodyguard to watch you, except from that, is there anything else?” Ariel asked as Jacqueline slapped her arm.
“I'm serious, while I napped at the store this evening, a masked man walked in and placed my head on his shoulder, when I woke up he disappeared before I found out who he truly was. Then later today while I was showering, I got a text from an unknown number, to look out the window, when I did, it was the same masked man with his car” Jacqueline said, she was a bit mesmerized by how he was able to find her. Ariel thought about it for a while, why would a masked man be trailing Jacqueline?
“Could he be Alessandro?” Ariel asked as Jacqueline bursted into a fit of laughter. Ariel pouted angrily at her friend's unexpected laughter. Jacqueline soon stopped laughing but decided to think about it. The masked man made her feel safe and at ease but that didn't mean he was Alessandro.
“Maybe if he shows up next time, I'll get the truth of who he is,” Jacqueline said as Ariel nodded. It could be Alessandro, watching over Jacqueline but he doesn't want her to find out.
The next day, Jacqueline woke up, feeling a bit irritated and nauseous. She got up from the bed, drinking the unfinished glass of water by her bed, opening the blinds as she stood in the sunlight for a while. She felt so weak this morning and considered going to the hospital. She suddenly felt the urge to throw up, she ran to the bathroom, holding her hair up as she pukes her guts out.
This was probably part of the signs of pregnancy. She felt so awful, she looked at the clock and wondered if Jennie had gone to school yet. She pulled off her clothes, had a nice warm bath accompanied with some fresh brushed teeths. She was going to the store then grocery shopping. She wore a black office pants, white cropped sleeve shirt and white sneakers, her hair was pulled into a messy bun, she did some light makeup, putting on some perfume as she grabbed her purse heading downstairs.
The whole house was quiet which was surprising, as she got to the living room, she knew something was wrong. Jacqueline went to Ariel's room, knocking on it furiously as she pushed the door open but it was empty, then the guest room which Jennie had slept in but was still empty. Jacqueline could feel herself panicking but she took deep breaths, calming herself down as she grabbed her phone. She immediately called Ariel, after the third ring, she was about giving up when Ariel picked up.
“Hey, Ariel?” Jacqueline called out as she waited for response, then she heard that usual and childish squeal.
“Hey Preggy bestie, I hope you slept well?” Ariel asked as Jacqueline hummed, now that she had heard Ariel's voice, she was finally at rest. As she talked to Ariel, Ariel said she was so immersed in her sleep they didn't want to disturb her so they left her to sleep some more. Jacqueline hung up after saying a few more things but as she turned, she collided into something hard.
She rubbed her forehead as she cursed, wondering if she had walked into a wall but as she smelt that familiar cologne, she opened her eyes, looking up at the one man she had missed.
“A-alessandro?”
