Chapter 92

"We are going to die, aren't we?" Jacqueline asked, panting.

"Not today, baby girl. Not today." Alexander replied, driving in circles. The two cars at the back had caught up to him already, there was no way out for him to keep driving in circles.

"Step out of the car, Vladimir." A masked man yelled through a megaphone.

"Who brings a megaphone to gunfight?" Jacqueline blurted out before she could stop herself.

"Contracted killers, baby. Contracted killers." Alexander replied.

"Step out of the car before we burn you inside along with that whore you carry around." The masked man said.

Alexander clenched and unclenched his fist in anger. He hated this situation he was in. He could handle six inexperienced gunmen just by himself, but he was with Jacqueline. He had to protect her at all cost.

"Too much of a coward."

"I didn't think he was someone like that. " The masked men conversed with each other.

"Don't step out." Jacqueline said, in a pleading voice. She knew it was no use as he would do anything to protect her, but she still had to tell him.

"You know I can't stay in here. They might actually come for you if I do. " He said, unlocking the door.

"Are you going to ignore the fact that your phone's been ringing ever since the chase started." Jacqueline said.

She noticed it, but decided to say nothing. She assumed it was a business call, but then she had taken a look, only to see that it was Vincenzo Vladimir, his father.

"Yeah, I'm just going to ignore it. You want to tell me it's a coincidence that he started calling once the chase began?" Alexander snapped.

"Your father will never try to kill you, Alex. He needs you as his heir and he won't do anything to jeopardize that. But you know who will." Jacqueline stated. Of course it was no coincidence, Vincenzo might have felt something was off with Greta and that was why he was calling repeatedly. The man acted like a statue, but the one person that would make him blink was his son.

The masked men from outside decided to fire a few bullets at the car. Jacqueline screamed out in fear as the bullets hit their car.

"Okay, that's it. I'm going out there." Alexander said, and immediately climbed off the car.

Jacqueline bowed her head, her hands wrapped around her head as she shivered in fear.

Alexander's phone rang out again, startling her.

Her hands shook, as she reached for it.

"Hello." She answered.

"Alexander, where are you? Are you okay? What's happening?" Vincenzo rushed his questions.

"Not really." Jacqueline answered as she looked outside the window. The masked men were currently pummeling Alexander.

"Jackie, what's going on." He asked and immediately tears rolled down her cheeks.

"They're about to kill him, and I don't know he's not fighting back." She whimpered.

"Keep the line on and I'll get to you people as soon as I can." Vincenzo reassured and Jacqueline nodded repeatedly. As she made to reply, the door was torn open.

"Get down, bitch." A man said, pulling her by her hair.

Jacqueline followed obediently, not like they gave her a choice. She was pulled out, and thrown to the floor beside a bleeding Alexander.

"No, no. Alex." Jacqueline cried, crawling to him.

One of the masked man pulled her back, kicking her on her belly.

"Careful, we will like to have fun with her later." One of them said.

"This bitch killed my brother with her little stunt earlier." The masked man said, crouching to the floor.

Jacqueline rolled into a ball, clutching on to her stomach. She cried in shock, seeing blood flow out from in between her legs.

"You all are not going to get away with this." She said, whimpering in pain.

"Still have mouth to threaten us? Bitch, do you still want your life?" One of the men asked.

"She doesn't, it's not like the boss said we should spare her." Another spoke.

"Let her go, whatever they offered you, I'll pay twice." Alexander said, spitting out blood. They were knife marks on his body, his clothes torn in shreds and he was bleeding all over.

"This fool thinks we can be bought." A masked man said, causing the others to burst out laughing.

"If you can't be bought, then how else am I going to get out of this situation?" Alexander asked, coughing and spurting out blood from his mouth. The question was stupid, because he knew they were bent on killing him.

"By death, Vladimir. The only way you get to get out of this situation is by death." One of the guys replied, going close to him.

"You're one hell of a pretty boy." The guy said, burying a knife in his stomach. Alexander grunted in pain.

"Let's end this fast and get out of here, I have a feeling something is going to go wrong." Another masked man said, this one hadn't spoken a word since the assault began. Alexander ears pricked, recognizing the voice immediately, he rose his face to stare at the man. Their faces were all covered with a mask, but Alexander could recognize his voice anywhere.

"You're not going to get away with this. You know who my dad is, right?" Alexander asked, cringing at his own statement. He didn't think a day would come when he would use the old man's name to sort himself out.

"Using daddy's name, I almost mistook you for a daddy's boy, but you aren't. You and daddy are on the out." The masked man standing close to him said, reaching out to take out the knife that was still buried in his stomach.

"Time to end this, boys" The guy stood up, waving the bloody knife like a trophy.

They all brought out their guns, pointing at Alexander and an unconscious Jacqueline.
