Chapter 145

The masked man stayed with Jacqueline, he made sure the area was fully guarded Incase anyone chose to disturb her rest. He wanted her to rest, since he had started watching her, she hardly gets any sleep and it makes him worry whether she would fall sick or not.

Jacqueline stirred in her sleep as she rubbed her eyes, she thought she was home. As her eyes slowly opened, she realized she was still at the store. Ariel must have been looking for her by now, it was then that she noticed her head was on someone's shoulder. With a scream, she jumped off the couch, only to see a man dressed in full black, with a ski mask over his face staring at her.

“Who are you and what the fuck are you doing here?” Jacqueline asked as she was about reaching for her gun. The masked man raised his hands in surrender as he chuckled.

“Look here baby girl, I offered you a shoulder to sleep on, the least I could get is a thank you. I don't know what I'm doing here but I happened to find myself here” the masked man said as he stood up, looking at the door then at Jacqueline, it hurt him to leave her but it was for her own good.

Jacqueline stared at the man intently, finding him to be really familiar. She took slow and taunting steps towards him but as she was about to touch him, he stepped back as he walked out of the store. Leaving Jacqueline standing there like some fool, she felt drawn to that guy even though she had no idea who he was.

“I better lock up” Jacqueline said as she went to the bathroom, changing back into her normal clothes as she grabbed her bag and keys before leaving the store, she locked it behind her. Getting into her car as she drove to Ariel's, she didn't want to sleep at her parents house because once they noticed her mood, they would want to know what happened either by hook or by crook.

Ariel was mixing up some breakfast when she heard Jacqueline's car pull into the compound. She wondered where she had been all night, Jennie was currently in the guest room, sleeping. The kid had a tough day, but Ariel didn't like sleeping just before the normal time people slept.

It would probably give you temporary insomnia. As she flipped over her steak, she heard the doorbell ring, she rushed towards it as she opened the door before running back to the kitchen. Jacqueline threw off her shoes as she followed the aroma of the food to the kitchen, as she stood beside Ariel, she was about to dip her hand into the pan of frying steak when Ariel knocked it away.

“No tasting anything until you've freshened up and tell me why the heck you're coming home now?” Ariel said, staring at Jacqueline suspiciously. Jacqueline just rolled her eyes at Ariel as she left the kitchen heading upstairs.

It had been a while since she last saw Alessandro and she missed him as hell. He wanted space and she didn't want to deny him that right, after all, she was the one who broke his heart and back stabbed him. Even though he told her that he didn't care about that, no man could tell her that your girlfriend selling you out to your enemy wasn't heart wrenching.

As she walked into her room, she fell on the bed as she sighed. She ran her fingers through her hair as she looked at the ceiling. If Alessandro never came back, she knew that she wouldn't be able to get over him and move on. He meant a lot to her and if she was given a second chance she wouldn't mess it up.

Ariel couldn't help but feel bad for her best friend, she had gone through a lot all in the name of a relationship. Ariel loved Romano so much she could give up her life for him, but when she saw that the relationship wasn't moving at all. She wouldn't advise anyone to stay in a relationship where you would take a step forward then in the next few days, three steps backwards. She scooped her phone from her apron pocket as she called Romano.

“Hey baby, are you done with work?” Romano's husky and tender voice came out of the phone as Ariel chuckled, she wondered why he sounded so sweet.

“Yeah, I'm done with work. Was just calling to check up on Alessandro. How is he?” Ariel asked as Romano sighed, she hoped that at least Alessandro was going through the same thing Jacqueline was going through.

“He is alive at least, the dude has practically drowned himself in alcohol and sometimes drugs. I can't help but wonder why they decided to let each other speak, seems so immature” romano rolled his eyes as Ariel chuckled imagining it. Great minds think alike they say, she thought they should have probably just sorted out their differences than giving each other space.

Ariel had no idea what kind of speculation would be running through Jacqueline's mind right now but she hoped the lad would stay the same at least. She talked with Romano for a while before hanging up.

Jacqueline stepped out of the bathroom as she sat in front of the mirror, she remembered that one time when Alessandro snuck up to her and bit on her neck. She chuckled drying her hair, she wondered how he was doing right now. But at last, she had no method of contacting him. She sighed as she heard her phone ding, she was reluctant to check it since it might be some spam text or an unknown debit alert.

As she grabbed her phone, looking at her hair one more time, the text was from an unknown number, which was super weird. ‘Look out the window princess’.
