Chapter 14

The thought of Romano recognizing her from the club made cold sweat roll down her back as she fidgeted a bit under his scrutinizing gaze.

"I'm..I'm sorry" Jacqueline said even when she knew what happened wasn't her fault. She hadn't known he was standing behind her.

"Who're you?" Romano asked as his eyebrows twitched , everything about the girl screamed suspicious and he didn't know why Alexander had hired her to begin with. There was something suspicious about her and he would surely get to the bottom of it.

"My name is Jacqueline, I'm Mr Vladimir's personal maid" Jacqueline said and she finally looked up to meet his black eyes. She couldn't deny the fact he was very handsome as well.

"I know that" he said and Jacqueline looked away from him and she took her lips in.

No doubt, she was far more beautiful than the last 5 maids who had caused trouble but there was something off about her, he felt like he knew her from somewhere.

"Stay still" Romano said as he took his phone from his pocket and Jacqueline became anxious about what he was planning to do.

He took out his expensive iphone and he snapped her face with it. He left afterwards, leaving a confused and worried Jacqueline. It felt like Alexander was pulling her mask from one side and now his friend, Romano, was also pulling it from the other side. The mask would rip off soon and her secrets would be revealed.

Romano was one of China's VIP customers at the club and it was hard for anyone to not know him there. Chain had offered her half a million dollars to privately dance for him but she had refused the money because she didn't want to, Ashley had taken her place then. She was glad she hadn't danced for him, else, he might have easily discovered her true identity.

It's not like she wasn't walking on thin ice already, she had made close contact with Alexander that night. Even with her mask, she was certain he might recognize her soon. Jacqueline sighed tiredly, now she had to worry about what Romano would do with her picture.

Penelope came in a few minutes later, "I saw that brat coming from this direction, did he disturb you?" Penelope asked with a frown on her face and Jacqueline quickly shook her head.

"He didn't" Jacqueline replied, the last thing she wanted was for her to be the cause of any more problems.

"He's lucky he didn't" Penelope softly harrumphed. "Help me take the food to the dinning" Penelope said and Jacqueline nodded.

Penelope dished the food in the plates and Jacqueline properly covered them and she began carrying them to the dinning. Jacqueline's hands slightly shook as she carried them, she was more than nervous.

Nevertheless, she composed herself and her feets gently padded across the exquisitely tiled floors. She reached the large dining room and she walked towards the dining table that had up to 15 chairs at each side.

Luckily, neither Alexander nor Romano had arrived at the dinning. She carefully placed the food on the dinning. When she was sure it was properly arranged, she turned to leave but her head made contact with a very hard surface.

Jacqueline took a step backwards and she placed her hand on her forehead. She looked up and she gulped when she saw Alexander staring down at her. It turned out that Alexander's chest was even harder than Romano's, her head might start aching soon.

"Good morning Mr Vladimir" Jacqueline said and she bowed slightly.

"It's indeed a beautiful morning" he said as his eyes drank in her appearance.

Jacqueline subconsciously held one of the chairs for support, she had hoped the look she had seen in his eyes the previous night would have cleared off by now but it hadn't, it was like it intensified. He stared at her like a predator and she was like his prey.

"Enjoy your meal" Jacqueline said and she was about to leave when he drew one of the dining chairs out, making dread cloud her features.

"Have breakfast with me" Alexander said and his voice held finality in it.

Jacqueline thought of possible ways to refuse his offer but she was unable to come up with one. The last thing she wanted was to be in this mafia's presence but it felt like he didn't want her out of his sight, had he started suspecting her?

"Thank you" Jacqueline thanked him half-heartedly and she slowly sat on the chair.
The chair Alexander had drawn out was the chair nearest to the one at the head of the table.

Jacqueline didn't want to sit so close to Alexander and so, she got up and sat on a chair that was 3 seats away from his. She was more than glad that he didn't question her about it.

Minutes later, Romano arrived at the dinning hall and Jacqueline felt his gaze on her but she buried her face in her food.

Romano sat next to Alexander and some other maids came to serve the drinks. Jacqueline could feel the maid's eyes on her, she knew they might be wondering why a maid like herself was having breakfast with Alexander and his friend. She didn't care though and she has never bothered to talk to any of the other maids. After they served the drinks, they left the dining hall.

Alexander and Romano conversed among themselves and they talked about things she had absolutely no idea about. It felt cringe when they conversed with the Italian language. She wasn't so fluent in it and she couldn't eavesdrop even if she wanted to.

"You know me, I love the chase, isn't that right Jacqueline?" Alexander asked her and Romano's eyes also fell on her.

Jacqueline's cheeks turned red as she remembered what happened the previous night in her room.

"I…."

"Isn't that why you decided to run even after I warned you not to?" Alexander drawled with a sinister smirk on his lips.

Dread instantly clouded her features as she dreaded what this psychopath would do to her.
