Chapter 148
Alessandro paced around in the hospital’s waiting area, he was so nervous that something would happen to Jacqueline. He shouldn't have left her all alone. As he was busy waiting, Ariel arrived soon, panting and looking tired.
“How is she?” She asked Alessandro who ran his fingers through his hair that had been soaked from sweat. “I have no idea area, the doctor assured me she would be okay and there was no sign of blood so that's a good sign”
Alessandro answered as Ariel nodded, she plopped herself on the bench there, throwing Alessandro a bottle of water, he accepted it reluctantly as he drowned it down. Ariel was a bit uncomfortable staying with Alessandro as he emitted an aura of dominance and power and she didn't like feeling like that, more reason why she liked Romano better.
The ward in which Jacqueline was rushed into, suddenly opened as the doctor stepped out of the room. Ariel and Alessandro rushed to him as the doctor smiled at them.
“You must be the father of that child I presume?” The doctor asked as Alessandro nodded. “Please come with me, we need to speak in my office” the doctor said but Alessandro just wanted to know if Jacqueline was okay or not. Ariel nudged him in the side, mouthing for him to go as she decided to wait here.
Alessandro nodded at her reluctantly as he followed the doctor, getting to his office, the doctor took his seat, motioning for Alessandro to do the same.
“So doctor, what is it you wanted to speak to me about? Is she okay?” Alessandro asked, worried about his tone. The doctor rolled his eyes at the young man in front of him.
“Yes, she is fine, just stressed. I would believe this is your first time having a baby. I would advise you to visit a gynecologist as soon as possible and get these drugs on your way out, she seems stressed and lacks the multiple vitamins a pregnant woman is supposed to have” The doctor said as he scribbled down something on a piece of paper. Alessandro was glad that Jacqueline and the baby were fine.
“I would do just that doctor,” Alessandro said as he collected the piece of paper from the doctor.
“I would also say, the next time she has been rushed to the hospital, if it is not for delivery I advise you to avoid it if not you would lose your wife and the child” the doctor warned as Alessandro thought about it for a while before walking out of the office.
Alessandro felt his heart beat rapidly against his ribcage, the thought of losing both Jacqueline and the baby made his heart ache, maybe he shouldn't have gotten her pregnant in the first place. When he got to the waiting area, Ariel was nowhere to be found so he decided to go see Jacqueline himself.
Ariel stood outside the hospital as she answered her phone, she hates it when an unknown number chose to call her today of all days.
“Yes, who is it?” She said rather rudely, she heard the woman on the other side growl in response.
“No need to be rude my dear, am I going to miss Ariel?” She heard a sophisticated and elegant woman say from the other line. Ariel thought maybe it was a customer, since she locked up the store early.
“Yes you are, how may I be of help to you ma'am?” Ariel asked, looking around for a cab. She was getting stressed out from going to and from but she really needed to bag this lady as a customer.
“Well you can be of help to me in many ways, there's a coffee shop very close to the hospital you are at, come meet me there” The lady said as she hung up, Ariel faced primed as she looked around. The woman was rather correct as she saw a coffee shop across the road. Ariel couldn't help but wonder why the woman was watching her, she looked at the hospital one last time before crossing over to the other road. Ariel felt suspicious for a client to be stalking her or else maybe the woman was interested in her which was impossible.
As Ariel walked into the coffee shop, she was rather surprised by the interior design, each of the tables were surrounded with boards that give the customer's some privacy. Ariel was about to call the woman when a lady, putting on a black dress approached her, she looked rather nice and calm with a smile on her face.
“You must be Ariel, call me Cecelia, please this way” Cecelia said as she led Ariel to her booth. She had gone out of her way to locate this girl and one could see that she had a motive behind it.
“So what would you like to have?” Cecelia asked as Ariel raised her brow at her in suspicion.
“I'm okay thank you, but who are you and what do you want ma?” Ariel wanted to get all these straight to the point and go back to Jacqueline.
“Straight to the point I see, okay. No problem” Cecelia said as she opened her bag, rummaging through her things as she grabbed two pictures and birth certificates as she placed them on the table. “In this picture is Jacqueline and Jennie, my daughters,” Cecelia said as Ariel stared at her like she had run mad.
“Are you okay?” Ariel said as she grabbed the photo, it was a picture of Jacqueline and Jennie when they were little, Ariel couldn't believe this, she looked at the birth certificate and noticed that it was authentic. “How? Why?” Ariel said she had known those two girls for a while and had never heard anything about their parents.
“I lost them when they were just two. It was a foolish mistake. I searched everywhere for them but I didn't search the right countries. I suddenly found a lead here in London and I had to rush all the way from Italy. Tell me she is here and happy” Cecelia asked as Ariel stared at her guiltily.
“Oh she is here, but in the hospital”
