Mafia’s possession:chapter 73
[ENDING OF FLASHBACK NARRATION]
Greta's eyes narrowed as her chest heaved up and down. Her face was twisted in anger. "Alexander, how can you say such a thing to me? I am your mother," she said.
"Mother indeed," Alexander scoffed. "Let me make this clear to you, you're not my mother. And you can never take the place of my mother."
Her jaw dropped open and her eyes widened in surprise. "That's rather too harsh coming from you. I may not be your mother in the sense of the word but you should show me respect," her voice was loud.
"You deserve what you're getting. If only you don't go around sticking your nose in people's business, we won't be here," his eyes became cold and dark like a bottomless pit.
"You are my business Alexander. I was only trying to put this gold digger in her face," she said, looking at Jacqueline up and down like a worthless piece of trash.
Jacqueline's face turned red, she felt humiliated by her words. As she tried to leave, Alexander tugged her hand and drew her back. "Stay Jacqueline," he said.
Then he turned, facing his step mother as he came closer to her. He could smell her perfume, the same one she had always used right from the first day she stepped into his father's house. Which had always churned his stomach in disgust whenever he perceived it. "Do not use such words on her, Greta. All these years, I have tolerated you because of my father. Don't make me lose it and toss you out like the trash you are."
Greta's hand flew to her mouth as she tried to stop herself from screaming. Shaking with anger, she brought her hand down. Pointing at Jacqueline, "You insult me because of that lowlife?"
Alexander threw his head back and burst into laughter. Then he stopped as his grey orbs darkened. "You're the low life here. You think I am not aware of the silly games you're playing? You married my father because of his money. Trust me Greta when I say this, if there is anyone who is a low life, it should be you," he spat.
Jacqueline was speechless at the scene before her. She had never witnessed such crude exchange of words amongst family members. She just wished the whole argument would stop. She had started the day on a bright side but Greta had managed to ruin it by calling her names.
This was one of the reasons she doesn't mingle with the upper class. They always had a way of subjecting one to constant mockery. With their noses in the air, thinking they are better than everyone else.
Greta stamped her feet, she had a murderous glare in her eyes and her lips twisted into an evil smile. "Don't get on my nerves, Alexander," she warned.
Alexander clapped his hands, looking amused as mirth danced in his eyes. "Woaw, let it out Greta. Come on, roar. Stop acting nice because that is not who you are. Beneath that beautiful skin of yours, lies a serpent waiting to strike.
Greta was fuming with anger. There was a look of hostility and disdain in her eyes. "Why did it take you long to realise that? Now that you're aware, I'd advise you to mind your words. Do not speak to me in that manner."
He shoved his hands in his pocket looking at Greta. "You seem to be forgetting something in a hurry, you're in my house. And I want you out without wasting time," he barked.
"I came with your father and I will leave when he is ready," she spat.
"And while you're here, I'd advise you to treat Jacqueline with respect." Then he circled his arms around her waist, drawing her closer to him. Jacqueline broke into a smile, as she placed her hand on his chest.
Looking at them in disgust, Greta said, "Jacqueline, you don't know what you have gotten yourself into. You think he adores you huh? When he is done with you, he will throw you out to the streets where you belong," she sneered.
Alexander felt Jacqueline stiffened in his arms so he smiled at her reassuringly. Turning his gaze to Greta, "The only reason you're still standing on your feet is because of my father. So I will let this slide."
"You're not special Jacqueline. Just like the rest, he will use you to his satisfaction and drop you like a used rag. Heed to my words and save yourself from heartbreak. If there is anything he does very well, is to leave women in tears after a painful heartbreak," she laughed mockingly as she walked out of the kitchen.
Her jeering laughter rang in Jacqueline's ears. Maybe she was right, Alexander is only using her. She removed his arms which were encircled on her waist. She could see the look of surprise on his face. And she moved away from him, standing close to the counter.
"Jacqueline, what is troubling you?," he asked.
She looked at her finger and bit her lips. "Don't you think we should take this slow?" She slapped her temple in frustration.
"Like you don't want me, Jacqueline?," his eyes softened. Then he moved closer to her, he felt like sniffing her body. God, she smelt divine.
"Uhm, I am not sure about this?"
"I know you want me as much as I want you. That should be a good start. We can be lovers, Jacqueline. Let's enjoy what we share. Last night with you was not just a fling. What I want with you is your heart."
Jacqueline became quiet. As she replayed his words in her head. She would love to be with him but snitching on him made her sad. She was in the middle of a chaotic moment.
What becomes of her when all this is over?
She felt his hands on her lips as he brought his lips closer to her for a kiss but she turned her head. And stepped away from him.
"I will give you time to decide if you want to be with me," he strode towards the door and walked out.
Jacqueline sighed deeply. She was confused, she couldn't bring herself to make a decision at the moment.
