Chapter 82
Alexander got home and rushed to Jacqueline's room. Grandma Penelope was still there. She turned immediately and there was a knock on the door.
"How's she?" He asked.
"Where were you?" Penelope asked in a hushed tone.
"Had to go attend something." He answered, his eyes not leaving Jacqueline. She looked different, she wasn't pale anymore.
"Well, she woke up twice asking about you and I couldn't tell her where you were, because I didn't know."
Alexander's features turned sad. "I'll watch her, I guess you have other things to do." He said, dismissing Penelope. She nodded, getting up to leave.
Immediately she left, Alexander pulled off his shirt and got into the bed with her, hugging her petite body to himself.
"You know, the mafia world is a dangerous place, you probably don't know how dangerous. One day I could go out and not return because of a deal gone wrong or a shoot out. I didn't care if I survived or not, life didn't mean anything to me anymore, at least not until you came into my life. I didn't think I would fall in love, I'll just put it that I didn't want to because if I did, they could be used as my weakness. I've never been scared of anything till you, I'm scared of losing you, Jay." He muttered, his hand raking through her hair.
They both stayed like that, till he fell asleep.

Lorenzo's room
Antonio stared at his friend who he thought he knew.
"He had to go, I couldn't tolerate someone weak and pitiful in my home, in my family."
"Danm!" Antonio exclaimed.
"Stop saying his name, he isn't here!" Vincenzo half yelled, coughing profusely immediately.
"Shut up! Just shut up. I haven't shot your ass five ways into heaven for old times sake. If everyone killed their sons or daughters who showed weakness, you wouldn't be here. Look at Alfred and his son, he was against him dancing. Look at them now, being best buddies in crime, his son helps with some of the business transactions. They are happy. Look at Genevieve and her son Price, he wanted nothing but to be home talking to pests, now he helps with the shipment of drugs."
"I'm not them, they are all weak, training weaklings!" Vincenzo said.
"Shut the hell up. If there's any weak one here, it's you. A little patience was all you could have exercised, a little support was all you could have given him. You did neither, because of your stuck up and stupid mentality. You're a disgrace to fatherhood. You failed as a father, failed as a godfather. I wonder, how's life a failure?" Antonio yelled.
He was angry and disappointed in his best friend. It was hard for him to show emotions and him doing this, he felt disappointed in his best friend.
"I wonder if I should just end you right here and now, no one would trace it back to me." Antonio asked.
"You can't." Vincenzo chuckled.
"I can't." Antonio nodded, looking away from him.
"I can't." He muttered again, pulling out his gun and aiming it at Vincenzo.
"I'm disappointed in you, Vince. If I should end it here, no one, I repeat no one would investigate your presence."
Vincenzo raised both his arms "it's not like you haven't done worse." He said, not a bit remorseful. Instead he had this smile at the corner of his lips.
Antonio cocked his gun, ready to shoot when the door to the room opened.
"What's going on here, Antonio?" Greta asked.
"Look who joined the party." Antonio scoffed, the gun still aimed at Vincenzo.
"Put the gun down, Antonio. Whatever issue between you both can be solved without violence." Greta said.
"Can it?" Antonio asked.
"Even though it can't, you can't come into my home, pointing a gun at my husband." She stated.
Antonio burst out laughing.
"Gawd! Isn't it exhausting pretending? Playing the caring wife for years and you go behind the scenes stabbing and planning his downfall. Quit it, Greta. He knows what you've been doing all these years, we all know."
Greta blinked her eyes "what are you talking about?" She asked, stuttering.
Antonio pointed the gun at her.
"In the face of judgement, lies are not advisable. The truth is." He smirked.
Greta shivered, immediately regretting coming in. She's been eavesdropping at the door and heard everything they said, including the part where Vincenzo ordered the killing of his son. She's been looking for something to hold against him, she finally got one and she's about to die.
"I will tolerate you aiming the gun at me, but not at my wife. I won't take that in my house." Vincenzo thundered, his tone firm.
"Awwww" Antonio squealed.
"Couple goals. To think of it, you both deserve each other. I mean, the murderer and the evil doer behind closed doors. I will love to see how this union ends. " Antonio asked.
"You're forgetting one thing, Vincenzo and Greta. This isn't your house and the moment Alexander says you both should leave, you will and you will do so without complaint."
"He wouldn't dare." Greta spoke harshly, the gun was no longer aimed at her.
"You think so?" Antonio asked, turning to stare at Vincenzo.
"I don't know, should I ring him up and see what he thinks about you murdering his brother in cold blood?" He asked.
Vincenzo flinched in fear, If Antonio does that, Alexander will never forgive him and he will have no choice than to give the reign to Bruno. His empire was crumbling and the sooner he saved it, the better.
"No! Don't call him, please. I agree this isn't my house, it's his and when he says I should leave, I won't have any choice than to do so." Vincenzo said in surrender.
"That's bullshit, ring him up and let's see what the bastard does. That ungrateful son of a bitch." Greta snapped. She saw a chance and took it. If Alexander was to find out, he'll have problems with his dad and won't take over the empire, then Bruno would automatically be the heir.
