Chapter 110

"Xander!" Jacqueline called. "I thought I'd lost you," she whispered, bending down to press gentle kisses on his forehead.

Alexander smiled. "Jacqueline," he whispered.

"I'm here. I'm not going anywhere.".

Romano entered the room quietly, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed.

"Jacqueline, save some of him for the rest of us, will you?" he teased. "Besides, your competition will be here soon.

She turned round, her eyes sparkling with desire.

"Don't spoil the moment, Romano." She turned back to Alexander, squeezing his hand gently. "Just ignore him," she whispered, her face creasing into a warm smile. "I've missed you so much.

"I've missed you, too," Alexander replied, his eyes softening as he looked at her. "I didn't think I was going to see you again… not after what happened."

He looked around, familiarising himself with the strange room. "How long was I out?"

"A couple of days," Jacqueline answered, her voice shaking.

"But you're back now, and that's all that matters."

“Ya, that's right baby girl. I'm all yours now. You know what makes me happier?”.

“What's that?” Jacqueline asked curiously.

“That you still love me despite knowing that I'm not Xander.” He said, staring at her eyes.

“I know what I want, and it's not the name I fell in love with, it's you and I love you, just the way you are”.

Jacqueline replied, kissing him passionately.

Grandma Penelope had followed Romano into the room, she was standing a few paces behind him.
"It's good to see you awake, Alexander or should I say Alessandro." she said, her voice firm but softened. "You've put us all through quite a scare you know. This young lady here almost lost her mind."

Alexander gave her a weak smile. "Glad to see I could keep you on your toes, Grandma Penelope."

“Don't worry about her, I'm here for her now”.

He leaned forward, pressing his lips against her.

“You wanna say something baby”. He asked

"I was so afraid," she admitted softly, the words for his ears alone.

Just then, an eyebrow shot up and Romano couldn't resist adding, "Well, you might want to compose yourself, Jacqueline. Ariel will be here soon and she wouldn't want her arrival upstairs."

She shot him a glare. "Oh, I think Alexander and I will manage just fine. But since you're in such a hurry for an audience…" She leaned back down, pressing another, deeper kiss to Alexander's lips, making sure Romano had a clear view of her affection.

Grandmother Penelope rolled her eyes at their antics,

"Good heavens, you two; can't a man wake up from a coma without being smothered?"

Romano chuckled, though soon he was distracted as Ariel walked into the room. He broke away from the group to meet her, his face lighting up as he pulled her into a tight embrace.

"Romano!" Ariel's face glowed with relief, and she flung herself at him, wrapping her arms around him. For a few moments, the two were oblivious to the people around them, savouring every second of their long, hungry kiss.

Jacqueline's brow rose at this display before she returned to Alexander. Her eyes dancing

“Looks like they're a bit wrapped up in each other."

Alexander laughed, shaking his head sideways to look at Romano and Ariel.

"Seems romance is in the air. Who would've thought?"

Jacqueline smiled, "Not one to be outdone." She leaned into him, pressing her lips onto his in a kiss that spoke much of what she felt inside without paying attention to the soft chuckles from Romano or Ariel's knowing smile that vanished in seconds.

Grandmother Penelope slapped a hand to her forehead. "To hell with you youngsters," she muttered, clearly exasperated as she watched the scene before her.

She drew a deep breath and composed herself before turning back to Jacqueline with a more serious look in her eyes.

"Jacqueline, there's something I have to tell you."

Jacqueline blinked, leaning back from Alexander's side and giving her full attention to Penelope.

"What is it, Penelope?"

Penelope took a step forward,

"Jacqueline, you need to know the truth about your family. About who you really are.

The room was dazed. Jacqueline's facial expression transformed from being puzzled to curious.

"What do you mean?

Penelope let out a sigh. "It's a very long story, Jacqueline; one I am not even able to fully explain right now. But the truth is… your real parents are alive. And as your biological grandmother, I owe you the truth. You were taken from your parents a long ago. And it's time for you to meet them.".

Jackie's hand flew to her mouth as her eyes widened in shock. She looked from Penelope to Alexander, equally surprised, and back at her grandmother.

"I don't understand… I thought…

"I know," Penelope said softly. "This was kept from you because it wasn't safe for you to know until now. It's now the right time for you to find out about your origins. You do have biological parents who have waited for you, and I promised them that someday I would bring you back.

Tears welled up in Jacqueline's eyes as she clutched onto Penelope's hand, her voice cracking in a strangled tone. "Why are you only telling me this now?

Penelope reached up and laid a hand on Jacqueline's cheek.

"Because I need you to forgive me, Jacqueline. I know this is a lot to take in, and I wouldn't blame you for being angry. But I only ask that you try to understand. Everything I did was to protect you."

Jacqueline swallowed hard, nodding as she squeezed Penelope's hand tightly. "I. I understand. I'm not angry, Grandma. It's just a lot to take in. But I'll go. I'll meet them-if that's what you think is right."

“But my parents, how? Why didn't they come for me?” She questioned

Penelope smiled, the hint of relief dancing in her eyes. " They did but it ended in a tragedy. But I can explain better if you would just let me.
