Chapter 16

The hair on Jacqueline's neck stood as she expected him to strangle her at any moment.
"Huh??.." Jacqueline asked fearfully.

Alexander tore his eyes away from the documents and he stared at her.
"You said you no longer have a crush on me but yet you've been staring at me for the past 5 minutes" Alexander said and Jacqueline released her breath she hadn't known she had been holding in.

However, her cheeks flushed red in embarrassment, he had caught her staring.
"I don't have a crush on you" She said as she stared at him, she cleared her throat and she quickly looked away from his piercing gaze.

"Your actions say otherwise" Alexander pointed out and his eyes went back to the documents in his hands.

Jacqueline didn't dare to stare at him again, she fixed her eyes on the window. He always found a way to make her feel embarrassed, Jacqueline wished she could at least punch him but she couldn't. She was at least glad he hadn't discovered the truth about her yet. No one had to tell her she had limited time left, she had to be fast with her mission because the time was slipping out of her fingers already. She started thinking of what to tell Alexander once he discovered she wasn't ill.

The drive took 40 more minutes and the car came to a halt in front of a 5 star hotel. Jacqueline's eyes widened, what were they doing in a 5 star hotel? He was supposed to take her to the hospital. Jacqueline stared at him in confusion.

"Get down" he said without replying to her unasked questions. The driver opened the door for them and Jacqueline got down first and then Alexander came down afterwards.

"Why are we here? You said I'll be going for a checkup at the hospital" Jacqueline said as she craned her neck to meet his gaze.

"Who said anything about a hospital?" He asked with a smirk before walking away, leaving her there.

Jacqueline quickly began following him and they went inside the hotel. Her heart raced with each step she took, why were they at the hotel? He had told her she was going to get a checkup, what was going on?

She walked right next to Alexander and the onlookers began thinking they were a couple. Despite the fact Jacqueline was wearing a maid uniform, it didn't appear like that at all. Her beauty and body shape made it look like a gown that was worth millions and if she modeled with that gown, it would be a huge sellar.

Alexander led her to one of the rooms in the VIP section and they both entered inside. Jacqueline stood rooted to one spot as she surveyed the room, the memory of what had happened between them on their first encounter surfaced in her mind and she fisted her hand to hide her nervousness.

"Mr Vladimir, why are we here?" Jacqueline asked softly.

Alexander settled on the plush white couch and he stared at her, making Jacqueline fidget.

"For your checkup" Alexander said and Jacqueline's head slightly ached, since when do check ups take place in a 5 star hotel??

"But we are supposed to be at a hospital, why are we here?" Jacqueline asked and if it was needed, she was ready to bolt out of the room.

"Come here Jacqueline" Alexander said without providing any answers to her previous questions, making Jacqueline turn alert. What was this nutjob planning to do with her?

Jacqueline slowly walked up to him and he tapped the space beside him, indicating he wanted her to sit next to him. Jacqueline obliged and she sat on the couch, she made sure to keep a good amount of space between them.

Alexander turned to look at her, "We're at a hotel because I hate hospitals. I'll draw blood from you and then someone will come here to take your blood sample to the laboratory" Alexander explained and Jacqueline stared at him warily.

He was going to draw blood from her? That statement made her believe he was a vampire because there was no way she was going to believe he was actually a doctor.

"You're not a doctor" Jacqueline said as she continued to stare at him and if it were possible, she would have disappeared because it felt like he was going to use her for an experiment.

"Believe whatever you want" Alexander said and he got up from the couch. He walked to one of the cupboards and he brought out a first aid box.

He came back with it and he placed the first aid box on the table in front of her.
"Where do you want us to do it? On the couch or on the bed?" He asked mischievously.

With the way he posed the question, Jacqueline felt like he wanted to do more than taking blood from her. Her heart hitched when she remembered the feeling of his lips on her body, she didn't want to go near the bed with him.

"The couch" Jacqueline said and Alexander sat down on the couch, next to her.

Jacqueline gulped as he took out the syringe from the first aid box.

"Your hand" he said and Jacqueline nervously placed her hand in his. Alexander wrapped his larger hand around her tiny wrist, making Jacqueline feel even more nervous. She was actually scared of needles and the fact that it was Alexander who was going to take her blood, made her feel even more nervous.

"I can't take your blood when you're trembling like you committed murder" Alexander said and he let go of her wrist. Jacqueline was quick to place her hand on her lap.

"I don't think there's any need to take my blood because I'm perfectly fine," Jacqueline said but from the looks of things, she was sure Alexander wasn't going to buy her excuse.

"There's a faster and less painful way to draw blood from you," Alexander said.

"What way?" Jacqueline asked him curiously.

"Well…I could slit your throat, it's the most painless method there is" Alexander said seriously and Jacqueline moved far away from him. She gulped fearfully, she knew Alexander was a psycho and so it was more than possible for him to do what he had said.

Jacqueline slowly got up from the couch and she walked a few steps away from him, her heart raced loudly in her ribcage. She turned to look at him and he had an amused expression on his face.

"I…I was never sick, I'm sorry" Jacqueline said and she held her breath as she awaited his response.
