Chapter 143

Jacqueline sighed, turning on the ignition and driving off. She felt empty, like she was leaving a piece of herself behind. She rubbed her chest in pain. Leaving Alessandro behind was a hard decision she had to take. She needed to forgive herself before anything else.

She drove to the airport and then got their ticket and soon they were out of the country. Before they left, Jacqueline and Ariel looked back, both of them wanting to run back home and hug their boyfriends. Jacqueline blinked Mack tears as Ariel pulled her back into the plane.

Three months later

It’s been approximately three months since they arrived in London, so far things has been going

smooth. Jacqueline bought a house for them to live in, registered Jennie in school

Ariel and Jacqueline started their very own fashion boutique and so far it’s been booming.

“Bye, sister.” Jennie waved as Jacqueline dropped her off in school.

Jacqueline waved back, walking back to her car. She felt strange like someone was monitoring her and she turned back only for her to not see anyone.

“You’re being paranoid, Jackie.” She said to herself as she got in, driving to her fashion house. They actually wanted to make it a model house, she and Ariel make the latest designer wears, while they employ models to help sample them. She got to the location and went in, Ariel was already busy attending to a customer when she walked in.

She greeted the customer and asked if he liked their services.

“Sure, I do.” The man answered, his eyes on her.

“Okay then” she said, feeling uncomfortable with the way he was staring.

Jacqueline went in, still wondering what was up with him. She checked the order and surprisingly their orders increased three times. Jacqueline smiled, going to work on the dresses she started last night.

She was still on it when Ariel came in.

“Did you know the dude from anywhere?” She asked and Jacqueline shook her head.

“He looked weird and strange.”

“Well, he asked for your number before he left.” Ariel said Jacqueline had to pause the industrial sewing machine.

“Don't tell me you gave it to him.” She said, looking up at Ariel, a frown on her face.

“Noooo, but I did tell him to come back later and you might just be in a good mood to give it to him,” Ariel said.

“He would be so disappointed then, cause there’s no way I'm giving him my call line.” Jacqueline answered.

“What about your WhatsApp line?” Ariel asked and Jacqueline glared at her.

“None, baby girl.” Jacqueline huffed. Getting up from her seat and walking to the bathroom. She sighed, standing in front of the mirror, staring at her stomach. She had found out she was pregnant three days after they arrived in London. Although the bump wasn't visible yet, she was three months gone.

She placed her head on the mirror, suddenly feeling tired. Alessandro hasn't called or texted. She wanted to tell him the moment she found out, but she stopped herself. He might have said he forgave her, but deep down he might still be holding some grievances towards her.

A knock came on the bathroom and she knew who it was before they entered.

“Hey, you okay?” Ariel asked, coming to stand beside her. Jacqueline shook her head, placing her head on Ariel’s shoulder.

“I feel like crap, unwanted, a loser. I Don't know, but I am tired.” She said

“You'll be fine, I've never been pregnant before so I don't know what it feels like.”

“I know.” Jacqueline muttered, taken in a deep breath to calm herself.

“Texted Alessandro yet?” She asked and Jacqueline shook her head.

“We didn't say anything about texting or calling each other,” she answered.

“But he has to know about his unborn child,” Ariel said.

“I have no idea what to do now, Ariel. I hoped he would have at least texted by now, but if he didn't, it’s fine. I can barely handle the responsibility alone, no one forced me to fall in love with a mafia man.” Jacqueline said, washing her face. Her private life was crashing, she wasn't going to do the same with her business life. Walking back to the store room, she sat beside the industrial machine and began working it. Ariel sighed watching her, her own case was different. She and Romano had kept in touch with each other. They're practically on the phone within 24 hours of every day.

“I’ll be with you every step of the way.” She said, pecking her best friend's cheek. She left the store and walked back into the boutique, bringing out her phone, she dialed Romano. He picked up immediately “hey babe.”

“Yeah, I'm not really calling about you, is Alessandro close?” Ariel asked and Romano paused.

“Hello!” She said when she didn't hear anything.

“Romano answered me, damnit.” Ariel stated in an angry tone.

“First of all, ouch… I'm hurt that you didn't call for me. And second, no… Alessandro isn't here.” He answered and Ariel groaned.

“Where is he?” She asked.

“I don't know. One day he packed his bag and left. Haven't heard from him ever since” Romano said.

“You know when I said you were a terrible liar?” She asked, Romano said nothing at first.

“I still stand on that…you are a terrible liar, Romano.” Ariel said and she could picture him scratching his hair.

“Now tell me where Alessandro Is before I decide to kill you!” Ariel warned, her tone harsh showing she meant it.

Romano groaned “fine. He’s in London.he couldn't stand to leave Jacqueline Alone,so he came a month after you two left.” he confessed.

Ariel smiled “thank you, baby.”

“Keep the baby to yourself, you were rude to me.” Romano said, pouting.

“Grow up, you’re getting old, you still can't be pouting like a kid.” Ariel said.

“I can!” Romano scoffed, making her laugh.

“Why did you ask about him?”

“Jacqueline is pregnant and she’s hesitating to call him up, just because he hasn't called her. She thinks he’s still mad about it.” Ariel reported and Romano sighed.

“Well, he’s neither mad nor uncaring. He’s there with her, she just doesn't know.” Romano said.
