Chapter 147
Jacqueline couldn't believe her eyes, he was standing in front of her fully clothed. She had really missed him, she moved closer to him, bringing her hand up to touch his face.
“Alessandro?” She called out to him as he smirked, that smirk that haunted her life for a few months. Alessandro immediately pulled her into his arms as he chuckled.
“Yes baby, it is me in the flesh and blood” Alessandro said as Jacqueline immediately burst into tears. She thought when she would see him after all this time, she wouldn't cry but seeing him in real life made her so emotional. Alessandro looked at the little bunny in his arms. He kissed the top of her head as he pulled her closer. When he saw her yesterday at that jewelry shop, he had to hold himself not to rush to her but after how painful she sounded, he couldn't hold himself but wanted to run to her.
“H-how? Where have you been? You left me alone all these months!” Jacqueline sobbed as Alessandro rubbed her back soothingly as he ran his fingers through her hair, rubbing her scalp tenderly.
“I've been in the shadows Jacqueline, I knew how much you missed me and I'm sorry for not coming to you as soon as possible. I wasn't sure if we had eliminated all the threats, I just wanted to be sure so I stayed hidden. Up till now, I thought I could remain hidden but when I saw you yesterday, I couldn't help but kiss you so badly, " Alessandro said as he pushed her hair out of the way. Jacqueline looked up at Alessandro with teary eyes but immediately pushed him away.
“You can't,” she said as she turned away from him, the mascara she had on had been washed away from her eyes and onto his shirt. Alessandro knew she would do something to hurt him now, but he just remained still with a blank face.
“I can't, didn't you miss me at all Jacqueline?” Alessandro asked Jacqueline as she fought back the urge to say yes.
“No, I don't miss you. You left me alone because you thought the so-called threats weren't eliminated. Do you know how I felt during that period?” Jacqueline asked Alessandro who shook his head, Ariel had told him how she had blamed herself for all the mishaps going on between them, the arguments and for him disappearing was all her fault. If he told her Ariel told him, she would get upset and throw a tantrum like she always did when she is upset.
“I see, you can just leave. I don't want to see you now, I just want to get my head straight” Jacqueline said, suddenly feeling nauseous. She walked to the couch, plopping herself on it, Alessandro looked at her closely and suddenly saw how pale she looked.
Was the pregnancy making her feel this way? He asked himself as he approached her, he was about to touch her when Jacqueline slapped his hand away with a grunt.
“I told you to leave, just fucking go!” She yelled, as she turned to look at Alessandro. He had a hurt expression on his face as he stood up from the couch. She reached out to touch him but he slapped her hand away.
“You always do this, you try to push me away each time I come back to you. Do you even love me?” Alessandro said as Jacqueline stared at him, tears running down her cheeks, she covered her mouth as she sobbed. Alessandro turned around leaving the house, he would come back when she truly needed him, now she was just letting her emotions get the better of her.
Jacqueline sat on the couch as she sobbed. After all these months, she finally saw him only for her to push him away once more. Jacqueline dragged her tired body up as she headed back to her room, feeling the urge to puke. As she reached the last step, she suddenly felt the world around her spin as she climbed it, she fell asleep and blacked out almost immediately.
Alessandro stood beside his car, punching the hood with all his might. With the way she always behaved, it was getting tiring. But he shouldn't have just walked out of her, he took a deep breath, finishing the bottle of cold water in his arms, throwing the bottle in a waste bin by the corner of the road before heading back into the house.
“Jacqueline! Baby, where are you?!” Alessandro yelled as he searched around the house. From the living room, to the kitchen, then dining room, then the store. He didn't want to head upstairs as it wasn't his house but fuck it. As he walked upstairs, his eyes slowly widened as he saw an unconscious Jacqueline on the floor, he squatted beside her as he tapped her face.
“Baby, baby, can you hear me? Please wake up” Alessandro said but he didn't get any response, he immediately grabbed her purse, picking her up in a bridal style as he walked down the stairs. Hoping nothing would happen to Jacqueline and his baby.
As he got to the car, he placed her at the back as he walked to the driver's seat, getting in as he drove away. The hospital wasn't too far from their house so he would get there soon.
Ariel was at the store, polishing up a few of the materials that had arrived when her phone rang. She knew it would be no one but Romano but was surprised to see an unknown number.
“Hello, who is this please?” She asked as she heard ragged breathing and the sounds of cars.
“It's Alessandro Ariel, I'm on my way to the hospital with Jacqueline, I need you to meet us there asap. I'll send you the address” Alessandro said as Ariel was about to ask questions but he just hung up. She grabbed her purse and phone, turning the open sign to close as she rushed out of the store, locking it as she raced off to find a cab.
