Chapter 135
She wasn't watching where she was going and she stumbled on her feet, falling down the stairs.
“Jacqueline” everyone called at once.
Jennie looked shocked as she watched her sister fall down the stairs. Romano’s expression was the same.
Alessandro made a move, of she eventually fell, it was death straight away.
Before she could land on the floor, Alessandro got to her, catching her.
“Jacqueline!” Alessandro called, shaking her. She wasn't moving one bit
Jennie immediately ran to their side “is she okay?” She asked, choking on tears.
“I have no idea, but we need to get her to the hospital” Alessandro muttered, scooping her in his arms.
“She doesn't like hospitals.” Jennie said. Alessandro who was almost at the door leading outside stopped to look at Jennie.
“She said it reminded her off the fact that she lost our father there and I too almost died”
Alessandro sighed, taking her back.
“Call the doctor” he said to Romano as he took Jacqueline upstairs.
Romano called the doctor and he was on his way. He was about to go upstairs when he saw Jennie crouching on the stairs, crying.
“Hey, you okay?” He asked, sitting beside her.
Jennie shook her head as more tears rolled down her cheeks. “I don't want anything to happen to her, i’m scared”
Romano sighed placing his hand on her shoulder. “If there’s one thing i know about Jacqueline, she doesn't go down without a fight” he said. “Now i’m really a sucker at consoling people” he said and Jennie chuckled.
“I love your laughing face than your crying face. You look like a monkey when crying” Romano teased and Jennie chuckled again.
“Instead of staying here and crying over her, you should be by her side. She’s probably down with a flu and it’s nothing serious” he said.
Jennie nodded, wiping off her tears.
“thank you, whatever your name is” Jennie said and this time it was romano’s turn to laugh.
“I’m Romano” he said, stretching out his hand.
“Well, i’m Jennie Cruz also known as jay Jay” Jennie said, shaking Romano.
“I thought Jacqueline goes by jay jay” Romano asked and she shrugged “I let her have it, but am the original jay Jay”
Romano chucked at her carefree character.
“Now that the baby had stopped crying, want to go see how your sister is doing?”
Jennie glared at him in reply, getting up. “I just got emotional, that doesn't make me a cry baby” she said, climbing the stairs. The doctor had gone past them a few minutes ago and he was probably done running a check on Jacqueline.
Romano shook his head, following her. Before they got to Jacqueline's room, they met Alessandro conversing with the doctor just outside her door.
Romano gestured at Jennie to go see her sister, while he was going to talk with Alessandro. She nodded, opening the door and going inside. Jacqueline was sound asleep when she got in and she decided to stay for a while.
“A few hours after I was discharged and this happens” Jennie said, holding her hand.
“I am scared and I want to cry my eyes out, but I have got to be strong for you.” She muttered, trying hard to blink back the tears that were threatening to fall.
“I don't want to lose you, Jackie. At least not now. Maybe when you wake up, I can finally tell you that big secret.” She said, kissing her sister's knuckles.
Jennie stayed for a while and ended up falling asleep.
OUTSIDE JACQUELINE'S DOOR
Alessandro was leaning on the wall as he and Romano talked.
“What did the old man said was wrong with her” Romano asked.
“Tiredness, fatigue, stress. He said for her to get enough rest.” Alessandro answered, rubbing his forehead. He was tired and Jacqueline gave him quite the scare.
Romano nodded “I guess the recent events got to her”
Alessandro nodded “it got to us all. But somehow I feel something is not right, apart from her being a spy-”
“Hold up” Romano raised a palm, looking shocked,
“A soy? Jacqueline? How? When? Why? I have a lot of questions, answer one”
“Sorry it actually escaped my mind to tell you. But she works for Chain. That was the plan, chain planted her here to get information from me, she stopped after a while, that was when she fell in love with me, now I think he’s threatening her again and she might make a move soon” Alessandro said.
Romano stared blankly at him, unable to believe a word.
“Jacqueline a spy for Chain? It’s hard to believe. You knew all this while and said nothing?”
“Not really, there was this one time when I gave a fake information to draw the person out. It was then I knew.” Alessandro answered.
“And you still let her stay?” Romano asked.
“I love her, man. More than i’ll ever show.” Alessandro confessed, sending his hands to his hair.
“first of all, that’s so not you. In the past you would off everyone who dared snitch and you had the guts to leave her? What the fuck is wrong with you” Romano bursted in anger.
“I told you this because I need your support, not your judgement. Can you get your head back in the game!” Alessandro said, his tone rising.
“Thar’s not how this things work, Alessandro. You get the judgement and maybe the support. What if she had told him a vital information that takes your life and everything you’ve ever work for in the process?” Romano asked. He was trying so hard not to yell at his best friend, but it wasn't working.
“That’s what am saying. Somewhere along the way she knew it was wrong and stopped. I’ve been guilt tripping her as much as I can and I can see her face and the way her mood changes. She’s sorry"
