Chapter 138
“I asked for my time, Chain should give me more time” Jacqueline yelled, years streaming down her face. The thought of betraying Alessandro breaking her. The man had done nothing but love her. How could she suddenly turn and stab him in the back?
“I believe he’s giving you enough time, he’s running out of patience, Jacqueline,” the man said, smirking wildly.
Jacqueline frowned, still crying. If he wasn't holding her sister captive heaven would be accepting his soul right now.
“So what? He sent you here to threaten me, remind me that he’s losing his patience and his manly ego is hurt? Who am I kidding? Chain is nowhere close to a man. If his ego is that hurt, why can’t he come up here and face Alessandro by himself?” She yelled in anger.
The man pressed the knife to Jennie’s throat, drawing blood, making her whimper in pain.
“Watch your tone, Jay Jay. Your sister is currently at my mercy, so I would be careful if I were you” he muttered. Jacqueline had no idea what to do, the lights were still out. Alessandro was nowhere to be found. Jennie was currently at the clutches of death's door.
“I need more time please” she begged.
“Nope, you have just 24hrs Jacqueline or you say bye bye to your baby sister.” the man said and immediately the lights came back on. Jacqueline fired bullets as fast as she could, but he was already out the window and he took Jennie with him.
“No!” Jacqueline yelled, her screams echoing throughout the mansion.
She crashed to the floor, brawling her eyes out. The whole mansion was quiet, and she wondered where they had gone. Jacqueline stood up, making her way to Alessandro's office. She had no idea what to take, but as long as it was a file and it was going to get her back Jennie, she was willing to take it. Just then, her phone rang with a message. She slides it open, only to come face to face with a threat message from Chain, it read: it’s been one hell of a ride making you my spy and i’m glad with a lot of pressure we would come to the end of the collaboration tonight, believe me I loved working with you, my long time pet. Your time is ticking and so is your sister’s life.
When she was done reading the message, Jacqueline screamed in anger, smashing it on the wall. She looked around Alessandro's room with tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, baby. But what I'm about to do is practically unforgivable and if you do forgive me, I'll hate you. I'm sorry, but anything for my sister, she’s the last family I have left” she muttered, walking to where he started some files. Without going through, she picked up some. Just as she was about to leave, she decided to write a letter. Five minutes later she was done writing and left it on his table, walking out. Jacqueline had tears in her eyes as she packed hers and jennie’s clothes. She wept for all the good times they had, she wept because there was no future for both of them. She wept because she was nothing more than a mile away from destroying him. She wept because he had loved her from the bottom of his heart, somewhere along the line, she loved him too but in the end she betrayed him. Jacqueline looked back at her room before she left. She just picked the necessary things she and Jennie would need. Staring at the black card he gave her some time ago, she dropped it on the bed for him to find. Even though she had stopped working as a maid, he didn't stop paying her, she never asked why. But the money in her card was enough to last her and Jennie for the next 30 years.
Jacqueline opened the door and walked out, locking it behind. As she walked through the hallways, memories she made with everyone flashed through her mind. She got to the main exit and stopped, looking back once more. She was just about to open the door when she heard someone call her name softly.
“Jacqueline”
She turned to see Grandma Penelope. Immediately, the tears she held at bay rushed down her cheeks and she ran to her.
“Stay, my child” the older woman whispered, patting Jacqueline's hair.
“He won't forgive me, I can’t watch him hate me” she cried out, hugging Penelope tight.
“He loves you, you know he will understand.” She said, and Jacqueline shook her head
“Not this time, mama. I betrayed him,he shouldn't forgive this.” Jacqueline said, disengaging the hug.
Penelope nodded, slipping another credit card into her pocket.
“I can't take this,” Jacqueline said, removing it from her pocket.
“What did I tell you, baby girl? Even though you don't believe it, you’re the heiress to your father’s property, you shouldn't work for money, it comes to you.” Grandma Penelope started forcing the card into Jacqueline's hands.
“Anytime you need us, you know where to find them,” Penelope said. Jacqueline nodded, turning to leave. Once she was outside she stared at the cars in the driveway, her old pick up was still there, so she walked towards it.
“Here!” Someone called and she turned to see Ariel. It was weird how they kept appearing one by one.
“I’m leaving.” Jacqueline said and she nodded “it’s obvious, but you aren't leaving without me” Ariel said, shocking her.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“I’m coming with you, Jackie. Best friend for life, right?” Ariel said and Jacqueline covered her mouth, choking on her tears.
“You don't have to leave him for me.” She said,
“I know, but they stuck together. Why don't we?” Ariel asked and more tears made a trip down Jacqueline's face.
“I’m sorry. I had no choice.” Jacqueline said, hugging Ariel.
“I know, and I'm sure they know too”
Jacqueline sobbed in her best friend's arms uncontrollably. She felt this emptiness within and she knew there was no going back.
