Chapter 99

"In a sick and demented way!" Jacqueline yelled before she could stop herself.

"You are sick, Vincenzo." She said,

"It's that a bad thing? Being well is boring, normal is boring, I decided to be sick." Vincenzo shrugged.

"Now name your price, I have things to do." He said, checking the time on a gold watch that sat on his wrist.

"You can't pay the amount, because I can't attach a price tag to our relationship." Jacqueline said.

"And why's that? I believe everything has a price tag, girl" He states and Jacqueline shakes her head , deciding to ignore him. There's no point in answering someone as demented as him.

"Not in this case and sooner you understand and get it into your empty skull, the better."

Vincenzo chuckled, fixing his eyes on her and deciding his next move.

"You have a sister, don't you? What's her name...oh right, Jennie."

"Don't you dare go close to her." Jacqueline said immediately, her face turning dark and her voice really scary.

Vincenzo shifted uncomfortably on his chair. He's not gonna lie, she scared him a bit. Like, how did she go from that harmless girl, to a ferocious tiger.

"Now we are getting somewhere." He asked.

"We are not getting anywhere, you leave my sister away from whatever evil agenda you have in mind or else-"

"Or else what?" Vincenzo interrupted, he didn't like being threatened. He should be the one having a say in what happens, not her.

"Or else I'll come for you and you won't like it." Jacqueline said, glaring at him. She couldn't help but wonder how he knew about Jennie.

"You shouldn't be the one spilling out threats here, baby, I should and I will. I heard she has leukaemia, with the money I'm offering she can get the best medical care abroad and she will be as right as rain." He said, a sly smile at the corner of his lips.

Jacqueline squeezed her fist, hating that she couldn't slap the smile off his ugly face.

The offer is tempting, but she won't do it, not even for her sister's health is on the line.

"Think hard about it. Don't refuse it immediately, remember your sister's life is on the line."

"Don't threaten me with my sister's life Vincenzo, she's doing fine where she is, I can't say the same when I take your bloody money." Jacqueline spat.

"Blood money? Haven't you spent my son's money, it's from the same source." Vincenzo snickers, earning a glare from Jacqueline.

"Maybe the next time I am at her hospital, I'll tell Jennie you refused the offer for your own selfish enjoyment." He said.

"Why are you doing this?" Jacqueline asked, near tears. The pressure was getting too much on her and she knew it was just a couple of minutes and she would be saying yes to his offer.

"You want Alexander's happiness, but you don't want the one person that makes him happy. This isn't just a test, you actually want me gone." She said, tears streaming down her face. This time she was crying for herself, it's been an hour that she's got to put up with him, how did Alexander put up with him for more than twenty eight years.

"This isn't just a test, correct. I'm proving a theory here if you still don't understand. You don't make him happy, Jacqueline, you should get that into your head. The one girl that will stay with him for the rest of his life, shouldn't make him happy and clearly that's not you. You should start leaving, because she will be in the mansion before you know it." Vincenzo said slowly, his knuckles while from all the clenching he's been doing since she started crying.

He should stop, but he doesn't want to, not after she's passed all his tests.

Jacqueline nodded, cleaning her tears "bring her over. I'll need to have a one-on -one with her." She said,

Vincenzo lifted his eyebrows "for what?" He asked.

"It's clear that you don't want happiness in your own son's life, I intend to change that." She shrugged.

"And you think Brenda will listen to all that crap about feelings, this marriage is off alliance and nothing else, she doesn't care about that. Not everyone is as carefree and without life objectives as you." Vincenzo snorted.

"You still have that marriage Alliance up in your head, Alexander told me about it, you've committed grave sins against your son and even when he has started having it in mind to forgive, you don't want to stop playing with his life and choosing who he loves for him, that's nice." Jacqueline stated.

"I'm not leaving him, Vincenzo. Because while your wife is a conniving, backstabbing bitch, I wouldn't want him to get married to someone of that sort. It's clear Brenda has the same goal. They will destroy you both, you have no idea. Let me in on one thing, you know she hired the hit on him, right? She hasn't started yet. Go ahead, marry Alexander to the girl who will drive him to his grave." She said, the twinkling in her eyes gone, replaced by darkness. Vincenzo stared at her, unable to muster up a word to say to her. He was done trying to separate the both of them. If his son gets to have the happy ending with his soulmate, something that he didn't get to have, he will give them his blessings and go to any length to make sure they end up together.

"If there's nothing else, I'll like to go back to sleep." Jacqueline said, laying on the bed and covering herself up with the bed cover.

"Congratulations on passing my test, Jacqueline. As much as I hate to say this, you both have my blessings. I just want to let you in on one fact, if for a moment I see that you both aren't separated for one moment. I'm going to embrace the monster I am and go to any length, just so you both are back together. Watch your actions from now on, you just got yourself a number one fan."
