Chapter 86
"Look at me, damn it!" Alex yelled, in the process applying pressure on her wrist.
"Take a look in the mirror, and see the pretty mark your other girl left on you." Jacqueline looked up at him, her eyes red and void of emotions.
"Go on, snap my wrist, because I don't submit to you. " She urged. His hold on her was beginning to hurt.
"You come home everyday telling me how much you love me and want my heart. It took you just one hour of me not being present for you to run back to her." Jacqueline said, snatching her hands away from his grip.
"I was beginning to open up, give relationships a chance, give love the benefit of the doubt. It's no use, it ends up doing the same thing, it ends up causing the same harm and breaking my heart and hurting me deeper than it already does." Jacqueline paused to wipe her tears.
Alexander walked to the mirror, his eyes meeting the red mark. He shut his eyes immediately, his thoughts going back to when Sally hugged him back at the club. She had purposely left the mark there, just to cause a feud between him and Jacqueline.
"Jesus Christ, I was beginning to love you back. I mean who wouldn't, you're the Almighty Alexander, the billionaire and mafia with daddy issues-"
Alexander hissed at a statement, she crossed a line and she knew that because she went quiet.
"I'm me, the poor brat from the slums, a mere bartender who came in contact with you. Gawd, I was warned, you were only going to use me for your selfish desires."
"You're taking Greta's word for it?" Alexander said, his first statement in a while.
"Fvcking yes!" She shouted.
"I trusted and hoped, Boss. I guess men are all the same."
"Will you let me explain, and make things right. It-"
"Let me guess, it isn't what it looks like." Jacqueline interrupted.
"It isn't what it looks like, Jacqueline. And if you will just let me fix things. " He said, looking at her.
"What do you want to make right, Alexander. You want to change the fact that you didn't sleep with your mistress?"
"I didn't sleep with anyone, Jacqueline." Alexander said, clenching his fist. If he should get Sally, she would hate coming in contact with someone like him.
"Oh my god, what if I'm the one you're cheating on her with!" Jacqueline held her head, her brain running with different thoughts.
"What if she's the real deal and I'm just a fill in?" She asked, another round of tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Hey!" Alexander went to her, hugging her body to his despite her struggles.
"I don't know who broke you to the extent of leaving you with this fvcked up mentality that all men are cheats, but let me fix this, pretty girl." He said, patting her head.
Jacqueline hugged him back, sniffing back tears. She will admit she overreacted a little bit, but what was she supposed to think? When you see a mark of lipstick that isn't yours on your man's body, you lose all sense of reasoning.
"I won't cheat on you, baby girl. That is one fact you should get registered in that baby brain of yours. I want you, more than I've ever wanted something in this life. I want to see your desires fulfilled before mine and baby, let me let you in on one fact; me and you, there's no ending, there's no separating. You're stuck with me for life, Barbie doll." Alexander whispered into her ears. His dangerous and possessive tone, sending shivers down her spine.
"I'll get dressed and meet you downstairs, wipe the tears and let me make things right." He disengaged the hug, kissing her on the lips, turning to leave.
Jacqueline broke down in tears immediately he left, regretting her burst out. She should have let him offer his explanation before jumping into conclusions.
What if he was right and he didn't cheat on her, their relationship is ruined because of her insecurities. If it was going to be like that, then so be it. But, she wasn't going to let whoever it was go free. They would feel the wrath of an insecure woman.
Jacqueline changed her clothes, powered her nose and set out. She met Granny Penelope on the way out.
"Dinner is ready, my dear. How are you feeling now, you're no longer running a temperature, are you?" She rambled at once, feeling her forehead.
"I'm fine, grandma." Jacqueline muttered and she felt Penelope freeze.
If she didn't know her roots, she would say the woman standing in front of her was related to her.
"Are you okay, Granny Penelope?" Jacqueline asked worriedly when the older woman remained motionless.
"I'm fine, just remembered something." She said, smiling awkwardly.
"Get some rest, Granny." Jacqueline said, turning to leave.
"Should I have a dinner set, my child?" She asked.
Jacqueline shook her head "I'm going out with the boss." She answered.
"Is everything alright?" Penelope asked in concern.
"Why did you ask?" Jacqueline asked back, she regretted replying like that immediately because it was disrespectful, but she wasn't in the mood.
"You're back to addressing him as 'boss' and your nose is a deep shade of red. No matter how you use powder or concealer on your face, it won't conceal the fact that you cried. Is everything alright, my child? " Penelope asked. She shouldn't know these details about her, but she had no choice.
Jacqueline's eyes turned red, tears threatening to fall. She looked away, blinking hard. The last thing she wanted was to start another round of tears.
"My sweet child." Penelope cooed, hugging her.
"What if I ruined our relationship because of my insecurities?" Jacqueline asked, the tears falling again and wetting Penelope's dress.
"If he loves you deeply, no matter what you did, he will always come back for you. Love isn't for the weak, my love, my dear child." She said, patting Jacqueline affectionately.
"Do you think he loves me that deeply? I can't lose him, he's the only good thing left in my life, grandma." Jacqueline cried hugging Penelope.
Penelope smiled, the girl acted mature and brave, but deep down she was a kid who was forced to grow up because of hardship.
"There's only one way to know. Wipe your tears, baby girl. Alexander doesn't like whiny girls." She said, Bringing out a towel, she dabbed the tears out of her face.
Jacqueline sniffed, nodding her head.
"Ma'am, the boss is waiting downstairs." Santos informed them, disrupting their moment.
Chapter 86
Jacqueline sniffed, nodding her head.
"Ma'am, the boss is waiting downstairs." Santos informed them, disrupting their moment.
Jacqueline turned back to stare, bursting into another round of tears.
"What is it?" Penelope asked.
Santos shrunk back in fear, the boss would have his head if he knew his woman cried because of him.
"He didn't come to get me, he sent his guard. Granny,he doesn't love me anymore." Jacqueline wailed.
Penelope sighed in exhaustion. Love is no one's mate.
"Tell your boss I asked for his presence." She said to Santos, who hurried off in fear,
"You should stop the tears, I don't want you passing out from exhaustion." Penelope scolded, leading her to a couch. They both sat down and Jacqueline placed her head on Penelope's lap. The older woman smiled at the action, rubbing her hair.
"I don't want him to stop loving me, I'm scared." Jacqueline muttered.
"I know, my dear. As far as I'm here, he won't. " Penelope reassured and Jacqueline nodded her head repeatedly.
Alexander showed up minutes later.
"You called for me." He sighed, rubbing his temple. His eyes met Jacqueline who had dozed off.
"You both are heading out?" Penelope asked and he nodded.
"And you sent Santos to come get her? I almost thought she was going out with him." She scolded, covering Jacqueline's ears.
"She's sorry, you are free to get angry at her, but don't let it go on for a long while, as it is, she can't bear it. " Penelope whispered slowly.
Alexander chuckled, nodding his head. The truth was, he was angry that she didn't trust him and she believed Greta's words over his. Other than that, he was cool. He was still going to punish her for her foreplay earlier, but let them face the issue at hand.
"You can take her." Penelope said, resting her back on the couch and shutting her eyes closed.
Alexander chuckled again at the older woman's action, she's playing pretend sleep.
He crouched to the floor, tapping Jacqueline awake.
"Baby girl." He said.
Jacqueline opened her eyes, closing it immediately.
"Come on, we have somewhere to go remember?" He said.
Jacqueline lifted her head off Penelope's lap. Staring at the old woman "Penelope slept off, did I sleep for long?" She asked drowsily.
"Nope.i think you both shut your eyes at the same time." Alexander said, getting on his feet.
Jacqueline nodded, rubbing her eyes as she stood up.
"Let's go." She said, walking past Alexander, still scratching her eyes.
"Careful-" Alexander warned and before he could complete his statement, she slipped, falling to the floor.
Alexander took heavy strides towards her, grabbing her by the waist before she could fall.
Jacqueline yelped in shock, clearly startled.
Penelope opened one eye to stare, seeing their position she couldn't help but coo "awwwn."
"You're almost twenty six, but you still act like a baby." Alexander scolded, setting her on her feet.
"If I have your baby, you'll have two to take care of. " Jacqueline muttered.
"Huh?" Alexander said, pretending like he didn't hear what she said, when he did.
"Let's go." He said, pulling her along.
They both got into the car, driving off to the club.
"Where are we going?" Jacqueline asked.
"Where I was." Alexander answered, more like muttering.
"Where you got the lipstick stain." Jacqueline muttered, shutting her eyes closed.
Alexander spared her a glance, he wanted to say something, but decided not to. There was no choice in trying to change her mind when she already believed it.
"I wonder who got you this messed up, Jacqueline." He said after a while.
"No one, it's you making believe what's not there." She answered with her eyes still closed.
Alexander decided to keep quiet, he messed up. How could he not tell Sally's aim when she hugged him.
Picking up his phone, he called the manager in charge of the club.
"Yes boss." The man answered.
"Keep Sally in the club and make sure she doesn't leave." Alexander answered.
"Boss, she left immediately you did."
"Then get her back before I arrive. If you don't, there's a risk of you losing your head." Alexander threatened coldly. Jacqueline had to open her eyes to look at him, was this the same person who was talking to her with a cool voice a moment ago.
"Yes, boss." The manager stuttered, ending the call.
"Fvcking Sally." Jacqueline hissed. If she gets a hold of her, she will regret showing off her caked up face.
A moment later, they got to the club. Jacqueline was the first to alight, slamming the door behind her.
"Take out your anger on her and leave my car out of it." Alexander frowned.
"You can just get another one if this one winds up damaged." Jacqueline shrugged.
"Heyyy, this happens to be my favourite."
"You said that about your Rolls Royce, the bugatti and the other car that I can't remember the name of." She smirked, staring at him. They were standing side by side, their backs to the car.
Alexander ordered the closing of the club with immediate effect. They were currently waiting for Sally.
"I'm whipped." He muttered, rubbing his forehead.
"What are you both doing back here?" Someone asked, and they turned to see Romano.
"I should ask you the same question." Alexander rolled his eyes.
"Did you happen to see him with a woman?" Jacqueline walked up to Romano, pointing at Alexander as she spoke.
"Talking about the lipstick mark on his shirt? " Romano asked.
"You saw that, and didn't think to tell me?" Alexander asked in anger.
"If I wasn't up to mischief once in a while, we wouldn't be best friends." Romano shrugged, making his way in.
Jacqueline and Alexander followed suit, Sally made her way in a few seconds ago.
Alexander hastened his steps, smacking his best friend on the head.
"I hate you." He said.
"Heyyyyyy, I love you too." Romano replied.
Jacqueline shook her head at their craziness. Her mind was at peace, but she still had Sally to deal with. There was no letting her go. Sally hated her, the hate only intensified when she got together with Alexander.
They entered the club and everywhere was silent, except for the cleaners doing their work.
"What am I doing back here?" Sally asked, more like yelling at the manager.
"Someone asked for your presence." He replied, going back to his business.
"I told you, I'm done for the day, you just couldn't tell them that?" She asked.
"It was someone I couldn't say no to." The manager replied, rubbing his forehead.
"A whole you. You're a man who acts like it. What do you mean you couldn't say no to him? Is he God, or Alexander?"
The manager stared at her "you're best at what you do Sally, but what did you do to piss off Alexander?" He couldn't help but ask.
