Chapter 81: Mafia’s possession
"I've got to meet that Lady." Silas whistles and immediately the grin on Alexander's face disappears.
"What reason?" He asked, frowning.
"Just to know her, nothing else." Silas replied.
"No!" Alexander said.
"Jeez, much protective." Silas muttered.
Romano chuckled at their banter. It's been a long time since he saw Alexander this carefree and settled. Ever since he met Jacqueline, he's been moody and ruthless. The previous Alexander wouldn't have thought twice before shooting Sally. I mean the girl has got guts in her, something that was going to send her to her grave.
"I told you. Stay away from her, Silas." Romano whispered.
"Why are you both even having a conversation about my woman?" Alexander asked, a deep frown plastered on his face.
Both guys whispered, taking a sip of their drinks.
"Let's get back to business, shall we." Romano cleared his throat, placing the glass cup back on the table.
"Joy kills." Silas muttered at Alexander.
"Get serious." Romano urged immediately.
"Three shipments have gone missing in the past three weeks." Romano broke the news.
"Three what?" Alexander asked.
"Shipment." Silas answered immediately before Romano could stop him. Romano hissed, bracing himself for Alexander's burst out.
He knew Alexander better than anyone, that question was an exclamation, it wasn't meant to be answered, but the big mouth Silas just couldn't shut up and answered.
"In the past three weeks, have I just been getting the news?" Alexander asked, throwing Silas a hard stare.
"I asked a question and you had the effrontery to repeat it, like I didn't hear the first time."
"My apo-"
Silas was beginning to say when Alexander interrupted. "Don't you dare say that word. Your apologies mean nothing to me, because there's a probability another shipment will go missing. Dude, do you think my smiles mean I'm nice? Or do you mean I won't kill you if you mess up?" Alexander asked, getting on his feet, sending his hands to his back. He's been losing money and he had no idea. He was angry and full of rage, to think they were all smiles when he came in.
"Alexander, calm down." Romano interjected. He knew better than anyone what his best friend was planning.
"Don't fucking tell me to calm down. Three shipments is over a billion dollars and I lost it because of his carelessness." Alexander thundered, withdrawing his gun from his back pocket.
Terrified screams rented the club immediately, everyone present seeking for shelter. They knew Alexander and what happened whenever he was angry.
"Calm down, Alex and listen." Romano got on his feet, coming face to face with Alex. Silas had his hands up in surrender.
"Boss, it's the same people who have been after you and remember, you said not to disturb unless it was getting out of hand." Silas was able to muster in a shaky voice.
"Then you waited till it was three, you couldn't alert me when it was two?" Alexander asked. His gun was still pointed at Silas.
"Bring down the gun, Alex and we can talk about this. There's no need to get violent." Romano said, stepping closer to Alex.
As careful as he could, he took the gun from him and placed it on the table.
"Good, now let's all take our seat and converse like adults." Romano added.
Alexander took a calming breath, before sitting down.
Romano nodded, going back to his own seat, while Silas breathed out in relief.
"I've been trying to get a lead on them for the past two weeks and nothing came up. It's always a dead end." Silas spoke up a minute later, his voice was shaky, evidence that he's scared.
"He came to me for help and nothing yet, but I believe there will be something by the end of the week. My people are walking around the clock to see that we at least get a name. " Romano said, patting the scared Silas on the back.
Alexander nodded, relaxing on the chair. "I'm close to knowing who they are, I feel like they're closer than I might want to let on." He said, his thoughts driving off towards the CCTV footage in his house. Who said stealing or being a spy is easy, try stealing from a thief or spying on a spy, it's never easy. The thought of her betrayal should hurt, but it doesn't because he understands why she's doing it.
"Alright. I guess we are done here." Romano stated, getting on his feet.
"Looks like someone has somewhere to be. You're in a hurry." Alexander teased, getting on his feet.
Romano shrugged "don't you have a woman to get to? I have mine too." He said, concealing a smile.
Alexander whistled as they both made their way out of the club, after bidding Silas who was still scared goodbye.
"That's hot and nice." He said.
"You should tone down your anger sometimes, so you won't do something easy and harm someone you're not to." Romano advised. This wasn't the first time he's said the exact same words to Alexander, the guy doesn't just listen.
"My temper is fine, the guy got on my nerves." He answered.
"Why? Because he said he wanted to meet Jacqueline?" Romano asked.
"Yessss! I mean, what audacity. Why would he want to see my woman? My own woman, if you weren't present someone's burial would have started being planned. I hate nonsense." Alexander scoffed, to the amazement only Romano.
"Jeez, so it had nothing to do with the shipment?" He shook his head. Alexander has fallen hard into the trap of a woman. He's happy about it though, that's the exact same thing he needed after his father assassinated his twin brother thinking it was him, someone to love and cherish him.
"Ehn, the shipment was part of it. The fact he wanted to see Jacqueline was most of it." Alexander replied.
Romano shook his head at his friend's craziness.
"Protect her at all cost, brother. You know the threat on your life." Romano warned, getting into his car.
"Will do, brother." Alexander replied, entering his own car. And just like that, the two friends parted ways.
