Mafia’s possession:chapter 25
Jacqueline's eyes felt so heavy and it took her 10 minutes to open them. Anytime she cries, her eyes get swollen and this time, it seemed a bit worse.
She heard a knock on the door and for a moment, she wondered if it was Alexander. She remained quiet for sometime, but when the person kept persistently knocking, she lazily got down from the bed and she forced herself towards the door. She opened it and her eyes softened a bit when she saw granny Penelope.
"Granny" Jacqueline called softly and the elderly lady fully entered the room and she shut the door behind her.
"Oh dear" Penelope gasped when she saw Jacqueline's swollen eyes. "Come sit" She led Jacqueline to the bed and they both sat down.
To Jacqueline's surprise, the elderly lady pulled her into a warm hug and she couldn't help but to bask in her warmness. Somehow, she smelt like home and the hug made her feel better.
"What's wrong my dear?" Penelope asked worriedly but Jacqueline just shook her head. What could she say? How would she explain what really happened? It was both embarrassing and awkward for her. She took in a deep breath and she calmed herself down.
"Mr Vladimir…changed my clothes when I was unconscious and now I feel…..I just feel like quitting this job" Jacqueline blurted and Penelope frowned a bit. Jacqueline hoped Penelope didn't plan to beat Alexander with a stick, she didn't want anymore drama.
"My dear" Penelope said softly and she held Jacqueline's hands with both her hands and she looked into Jacqueline's black eyes. "I don't know what that brat told you but I was the one who changed your clothes. Alexander had instructed me to change your clothes and immediately I came into the room, he immediately stepped out. I know he can be a bit odd and…crazy but he really has good intentions for you. When you were unconscious, he watched over you closely and I even had to double-check to make sure it's the same Alexander I know. This is the first time I'm seeing him depict such emotions for an outsider so please, go easy on him a bit" Penelope said.
Jacqueline parted and closed her mouth so many times, like a fish out of water. She was left speechless and she didn't know what to say anymore. Alexander hadn't changed her clothes? Why on earth did he not tell her? She had said those words to him because she had thought he had changed her clothes but he hadn't and now she felt extremely stupid. The hell!!!! She had foolishly talked about quitting her job, despite knowing the consequences it would have on her and her sister, Jennie.
"I..I don't know what to say anymore. Granny, I had told him I wanted to quit my job because I thought he had changed my clothes" Jacqueline said with slight panic and she facepalmed herself.
"This girl," Penelope sighed. "I don't mean to side with Alexander but the doctor specifically instructed him to change your clothes to a more free outfit and so, even if he had done it, I guess it was for your own good Jacqueline" Penelope said.
Jacqueline didn't know what to do anymore, everything was Alexander's fault. If Alexander hadn't brought up that game, then none of this would have happened. But then again, it was her who had lied about being sick and she had also brought the punishment upon herself.
"What am I going to do now?" Jacqueline asked Penelope earnestly.
Penelope gave her a reassuring smile, "All you have to do is to apologize to Alexander" Penelope said and her eyes widened, how could she apologize to Alexander?
She knew it was the logical thing to do but she didn't know how she was actually going to do it, she couldn't imagine herself apologizing to Alex.
"I..I don't know how to apologize to him, granny please help me apologize to him" Jacqueline begged and Penelope giggled.
"I can't help you with that but there's someone who can help you with a few tips on how to apologize to that brat of mine" Penelope said.
"Who?" Jacqueline asked curiously.
"Romano" Penelope said and Jacqueline's lips twisted in distaste, she wasn't particularly fond of him. Up until yesterday, he had only glared at her anytime they met. Why would Romano help her out? He had no reason to.
"Where is Alexander?" Jacqueline asked.
"Alexander is on a trip to Verona and honestly, I don't know when he will be back. However, Romano will return later today to pick up a few things and that's your chance" Penelope said and Jacqueline nodded.
Penelope left her room after some few minutes but not before giving her some medications for her swollen eye. Jacqueline took the medications and she had her bath afterwards. Her eyes came back to normal after some few hours and she began waiting for Romano to return.
After a few more hours, Romano finally arrived at the mansion. Penelope informed her he was at the study on the second floor. Jacqueline hesitated a bit and then she made her way to the study.
Her feet came to a halt in front of the door which was left slightly ajar. She could see Romano backing her as he faced the window. She almost backed out and left but that was when Romano spoke to her.
"You don't have to stand there like an extra decoration for the hallway" Romano said and Jacqueline wondered how he knew she was standing there when he clearly had his back facing her.
Jacqueline took her lips in and she fully entered the study. Romano turned towards her and she gave him a slight bow.
"What do you want?" Romano asked calmly and Jacqueline fidgeted a bit before making up her mind to tell him what she wanted.
"I made Alexander upset and I..I don't know how to apologize to him. Well, granny said I could come to you for help" she said and Romano kept his eyes fixed on hers, making her feel even more nervous.
"Apologize huh?" Romano asked and a smirk crept to his lips. "Do you really want my advice?" Romano asked her and Jacqueline gingerly nodded.
"Seduce him" Romano said and for a moment, Jacqueline felt her hearing might have glitched or something.
"If you really want to apologize, then seduce him" Romano said, leaving Jacqueline gobsmacked.
