Chapter 67
Chapter 67-The mafia's possession
Jacqueline's face burned with fury as she glared at Alexander. Ignoring his question, she tried walking away but Alexander held her hand, drawing her closer.
"Don't walk out on me, Jacqueline," he said in a clipped tone. "
Waow, look who is getting angry for being insensitive. Standing close to him, she jabbed her finger in his chest. "You have no right or whatsoever to tell me what to do," she snapped.
He looked at the finger she had pointed at him and a smirk appeared on his face as he held her finger and brushed it off like it was a peck of dust. "Just tell me why you're angry. Don't I have the right to know why?"
"You, Alexander, are the cause of it."
His eyebrow raised to his hairline in surprise. " Me? What did I do wrong?"
She laughed hysterically and Alexander stood watching her shake with laughter, his cool gaze never leaving her face.
Jacqueline stopped laughing, becoming serious again as she spoke in a low tone. "We are just a few days into what we have and you're already making an announcement of it. You shouldn't have told her."
Alexander was taken aback by her outburst. He regained his composure and ran his fingers through his hair. Trying to stay calm. "I did nothing wrong. I have genuine interest towards you Jacqueline. Why will I hide it from Penelope?," he spoke with a hint of annoyance.
"That's because I don't want the world to know about it," she said sarcastically.
His eyes narrowed to a slit. "Granny Penelope means a lot to me. There is nothing wrong about informing her of our relationship," he retorted sharply.
"I just want it to be kept private."
"Is there something you're hiding?
Her eyes widened in shock. "Me?, hid anything from you? How is that even possible? I am not hiding anything from you," she struggled to maintain a cool facade.
He must have seen right through her with what she said. Deep down, she knew he was right. She averted her gaze from his piercing grey orbs that seemed to search through her mind.
"Yes, Jacqueline, you're hiding something. All the women I've been with would do anything to let others know of our relationship."
There was a sudden flash of anger. "Other women, huh?," she scoffed. "Go be with them and leave me the hell alone." The moment the words came out, her hands flew to her mouth.
His wistful eyes rove through her, lingering on the slight swell of her breasts underneath his shirt which she had on. God! He was clearly distracted in the middle of a heated argument.
He had to drag his eyes back to her face. Alexander, stay focused. He chided himself. "Alright," he said in a tone of finality. Without arguing further, he walked away leaving a stunned Jacqueline behind.
She opened her mouth in shock and snapped it close immediately. Did he just say, 'Alright' ?
Like all she just said means nothing to him. She glared at his retreating form and that moment the only strong will in her, was to throw something at him.
She stomped away and when she got to her room, she yanked the door open, got in and slammed the door. She ran to her bed, dropped her gown and started hitting her bed, a wave of anger washed over her.
That nutjob walked away with reaching an agreement with her. How many people are aware of their relationship? Just how many? She shuddered. It would have been better if no one knew.
She just doesn't want to make things difficult for them. What if Chain decides to call the whole thing off and instructs her to leave? She knew that she had little say in her life. That would mean leaving Alexander behind without a clue. He will definitely feel betrayed.
Argh!
Her life is such a mess.
As she got up and sat down on the bed from the corner of her eyes, something bounced off the bed and fell on the floor. It got her attention and she quickly picked it.
It was a written note. She read it.
I had alll the messages you sent to me wiped out of your phone. And your contacts too. Call me. From Chain.
She sighed. For the first time, she felt relieved reading a message from Chain. It would have been a disaster if Alexander had found out. Being a notorious mafia, she shuddered at the thought of what he would do to her.
She tore the note and threw it in the trash can at the corner of her room. Then she headed to the bathroom. Naked and under the shower head, water blasted from it and cascaded down her black hair to her smooth skin. Her nipples were swollen from the gentle bites from Alexander.
She could still feel her legs wobble, surprisingly, during her argument with him, she felt no pain. Could it be that her anger made her forget about her wobbly legs.
When she got out, she rummaged through the closet and brought out a neatly folded uniform. She is back at her job again, working as a maid and sleeping with Alexander.
Wow. Quite a combination. She wasn't even sure of her job description any more. She'd have to ask granny Penelope later.
She brought out a small notepad where she had written Chain's number and that of Aries. She punched Chain's number in her phone.
It rang repeatedly but her call was not answered. That was a first. He always answered her calls. He might be busy, she thought to herself.
She decided to call Aries. And she answered immediately.
"My goodness, Jacqueline, you got us worried. I have been trying to reach you for days. What happened?," her voice was laced with concern. It was as if she could see Aries' forehead creased in worry.
Jacqueline sighed. "I will tell you all about it later. How are you doing?"
"The reason I have been trying to reach you is because of jennie."
Her heart skipped a beat and fear engulfed her. "What happened to her? Is she alright?"
