Chapter 104

"Really, without your men, I'm sure you're nothing." Amara scoffed, she was clearly unmatched but she won't back down.

"Just so you know, one is my husband, the older man is my overprotective father in law"

"But, you're screwing both dicks." Amara said, laughing mockingly.

Jacqueline squeezed her fist in anger, she's never been a violent person, but this girl was sending over an edge and if she acts on it, she will end up doing something she regrets.

"Walk away, Amara. We've never met before, you sure as hell have no reason to gaslight me or be rude to me." Jacqueline said, taking deep breaths and trying to reason with her.

"Is that a cry for help? Someone finally realized her 'dicks' are laying immobile on the bed and she had no help." Amara smirked, folding her arms.

"Walk away and watch your mouth, Amara. I'm standing on what I said earlier, I have the resources to fvck your life pretty badly." Jacqueline warned. The insultive remarks she was leaving on Alexander and Vincenzo was annoying.

"Bluff." Amara chuckled.

"I dare you to make one insultive remark to her again, and you just might see what she's talking about." A voice said from behind.

"What? She's bluffing and can do nothing to me." Amara chuckled, turning to see who it was. Her eyes widen in shock on seeing the older woman.

"Grandma Penelope." Jacqueline smiled, running to hug the woman.

Amara's eyes widened in shock again. Did the nobody she just insulted call the owner of half of the hospital in Rome, including this one 'grandma'

"My sweet child. " Grandma Penelope hugged her back, patting her hair softly.

Penelope's eyes went back on Amara "I'm still waiting." She said, her authoritative voice booming. Jacqueline had to raise her head to make sure she didn't hug the wrong person. The Penelope she left at home and this one right here, felt like two different person. The one at home was a caretaker, a maid. This one here sounded like a boss lady who knew what she was doing.

"I'm sorry, ma'am." Amara bowed her head, shaking visibly.

"You're fired." Penelope said, pulling Jacqueline to sit down.

"No, I'm sorry, ma'am. This is the only job I have to sustain myself and my family." Amara went on her knees immediately.

"I hate it when they pull up this line. I mean, you should have thought about that before disrespecting someone, not just anyone, my granddaughter." Penelope shrugged, still hugging Jacqueline whose eyes were as wide as saucers.

"I had no idea she was your granddaughter, please pardon me." A crying Amara begged, groveling on the floor.

"Even though she wasn't my daughter, I would still have fired you. I'm not forgiving the mess you made, Amara. Get out or I'll have security throw you out!" Penelope ordered sternly. Amara raised her head to stare at the woman, cursing herself and her disrespectful mouth. Who didn't know Penelope Douglas, the ruthless heiress. She disappeared with her daughter after the death of her husband and no one had heard of her since then, until today and that was over thirty something years ago.

Amara got on her feet, still crying as she left the scene.

"What just happened? And what are you wearing? You look like a fvcking boss lady." Jacqueline asked when it was clear Amara was out of earshot.

She stared at Penelope who was in suit pants, a black long sleeve shirt and a blazer over it.

"Just playing the part, baby girl." She smiled, engulfing Jacqueline in another bone crushing hug. She didn't plan on showing her status to Jacqueline, at least not now, but soon.

"They're some things you don't know, Jackie." Romano said, coming out from an intersection. He had come with Penelope, but decided to stay back and watch the drama. He knew about Penelope's status, not even Alexander did and he had no idea why she wanted to keep it hidden from them both, but he respected her decision.

"You're here too? " Jacqueline asked, disengaging from the hug with Penelope.

"Nah, you're just seeing a mirror version of me." Romano said, chuckling.

Jacqueline shook her head, smiling at his remark.

"It's been what? An hour after I left you both and this happened? I told him he can't survive without me, he wouldn't believe, now look at it." Romano sighed.

"This past few days, be so dramatic and scary. I can't count how many times I felt my heart will give out from the shock." Jacqueline shook her head.

"I'm glad you both are alive, an old friend of mine is here, I'll go stop by and see them, I'll be back." Penelope smiled, fondling Jacqueline's cheek. She stood up and left, after instructing Romano not to leave Jacqueline's side.

"Did he tell you?" Jacqueline asked, once Penelope left.

"What?" Romano asked back, feigning ignorance.

"That he's Alessandro and not Alexander?"

"Yep." He shrugged.

"Fvcking Christ." Jacqueline exclaimed.

"Are you sure you should be using those two terms together? I mean one is sin and the other holy, they don't go together." Romano said, squeezing his face in disgust.

Jacqueline palmed her forehead at the guys craziness and his ability to always ease the tension around.

"I was friends with both of them. Growing up in the mafia and all, we were all expected to be strong and brave and heartless, to always think with our head, make grave decisions not caring for the repercussions. I always loved Alessandro more, his withdrawal to everything, always hiding behind his numerous hoodies. When you see the both of them, you won't believe they're actually siblings, twins even. You would think me being the son to a ruthless mafia I would hate to associate with him...i didn't."

Jacqueline remained quiet, listening to his tales, but lost in her own thoughts.

"My dad didn't tell me to detach myself, he said to do the opposite. I think one of the reasons why Alexander didn't like Alessandro that much was because I preferred Sandro to Xander."
