Chapter 109 Never Felt This Helpless in Their Life

"Karl wins!" Zane shouted, giving Karl a pat on the back like he was trying to cheer him up.

Meanwhile, Joshua was bouncing around, grinning like a Cheshire cat, and bragging to everyone in sight.

It was like the roles of winner and loser had flipped. Even though Karl won, it didn't feel like a total victory.

Zane went on, "Alright, here are the top three: John, Ava, and Karl!"

After what felt like forever, the competition was finally winding down.

Zane said, "You three, draw lots!"

Since they were all pretty evenly matched, Zane figured a draw would decide who'd get a bye.

"Push me up there!" Brady and Vaughn shoved Karl to the front, and he picked a piece of paper.

He opened it and grinned, "It's blank! It's blank!"

John rolled his eyes, "Don't shout, that's the bye!" He showed his paper, which had "bye" written on it.

Karl's face fell. A blank paper meant he had to fight.

"Ava versus Karl!" Zane announced.

It was another showdown between two powerful A-grade contract spirits.

They were old rivals from Beast Taming Class One, always battling for the top spots.

"Ava, to beat John, I gotta take you down first! Sorry!" Karl said, looking all emotional but kinda funny.

Ava, unfazed, summoned her Firebird.

Remembering something, Karl trembled and quickly said, "Quick! Push me away!"

Brady and the others pushed Karl to the far end of the platform.

He sighed in relief.

If he caught fire again during the fight, it would be a nightmare.

To be safe, Karl added, "Get some water ready, just in case!"

John, watching from the side, said, "Ava, go all out. If both of your spirits get wrecked, that's perfect—leaving me to finish the job!"

Ava felt helpless and thought, 'Your game is so transparent. Why not just cut to the chase and take the trophy without any competition, huh?'

The battle between the Firebird and the Wind Beast erupted instantly!

One was a fire-type A-grade contract spirit, the other a wind-type A-grade contract spirit. Both had similar potential and potion boosts, with no clear advantage.

The battle was intense from the start, but the audience wasn't too interested, chatting among themselves.

The most anticipated battles were those involving John and the other two. Whether it was Uriah's green light skill, Joshua's mutated bird, or John's giant Slime, they all offered a sense of wonder and curiosity.

The audience's taste in battles had shifted.

At this moment, the Firebird used a new skill. It spat out fist-sized fireballs.

But the Wind Beast was equally impressive, dodging with extraordinary speed. The clash was visually stunning.

After ten minutes of fierce fighting, Karl narrowly won.

Ava was usually a bit stronger than Karl, consistently holding the top spot.

John wasn't surprised. Ava had fought Evelyn earlier and was still exhausted.

Karl, on the other hand, had fought Joshua, and while his Wind Beast had some mental trauma, its physical state was fine.

"We'll take a break before the final match!" Zane announced, giving Karl some time to recover after his fight with Ava's Firebird.

The school nurse treated both Karl and his Wind Beast right there on the spot.

They lay on the ground while two doctors applied ointments. Their injuries were surprisingly similar.

A crowd gathered to watch, and Karl swore this was the most torturous treatment he'd ever experienced.

An hour later, the special potion's healing power kicked in. Karl could stand up slowly, and the Wind Beast seemed to recover well too.

"Zane, let's start!" Karl stood up straight, eyes filled with newfound confidence.

He endured humiliation not out of weakness or helplessness, but because he was waiting for the right moment to strike back at those who had wronged him with greater force!

The Wind Beast flapped its wings, eyes filled with ferocity and anger.

As the atmosphere of the impending fight grew more intense, everyone doubted John's chances.

If both were ground-based contract spirits, the outcome would be uncertain, but the Wind Beast was a flying type and incredibly fast.

Although John's Slime had a falling-from-the-sky skill, it's not doing much against the speedy Wind Beast.

John calmly approached the battle platform.

Suddenly, his eyes widened as he looked at Karl and exclaimed, "Mr. Ward, your crotch is on fire again!"

Karl instinctively jolted and looked down. At that moment, the giant Slime suddenly dropped, trying to crush the Wind Beast beneath it.

"You're really sneaky!" Everyone's lips twitched. They hadn't expected John to be so cunning. The Beast Manor people had all looked at Karl, not paying attention to the platform.

Although he caught them off guard, the Wind Beast was too fast and quickly dodged the move.

"I really underestimated you!" Karl broke into a cold sweat, grateful for the Wind Beast's vigilance.

If the Slime had landed on it, it would have been disastrous.

The Slime continued to bounce around cutely, looking very adorable.

Only those whose sprites had been crushed by it knew the true meaning of despair.

Watching the Slime bounce around, Karl felt relieved but also very angry.

The long-held grudge was finally about to be avenged!

"You're not the only ones who can humiliate others." Karl smirked, looking like a villain. The Wind Beast hovered above the Slime, shaking its rear provocatively.

Karl thought, 'Today, my Wind Beast will not only humiliate you but also defeat you!'

John was momentarily stunned, then his expression turned to one of anger. "Karl, you're shameless! Using such despicable tactics is a disgrace to our City of Wisdom High School!"

In an instant, the Beast Manor people fell silent, feeling more helpless than ever.

They thought, 'You were the founder of despicable tactics.'
