Chapter 27 I Didn't See
"John!" Harper shouted angrily.
John spoke, his tone apologetic, "Forget I said anything, Mr. Adams. Please continue."
John fell silent and turned to discuss history with Mr. Stern.
Harper sighed, feeling his confidence wane. He sighed again and continued.
"You three still have a chance. There are twenty days left until the final exams. Your academic scores are fine. The only issue is your Beast Taming grades. During this time, try to buy some potions. If you can afford it, check the Black Market for any Beast Taming Orbs."
In the entire City of Wisdom, only one shop had the privilege to sell Beast Taming Orbs.
The force behind it was naturally the official government, but the price was extremely high. At the same time, there was more demand than supply, making it virtually impossible to purchase one.
Harper could only hope they would try the Black Market, as anything could appear there.
Harper said, "Improving your Beast Taming grades will significantly boost your class ranking."
Despite the hefty expense, their family was relatively wealthy and could afford it for the time being.
Aside from these three, the other top students in their grades were also frantically improving themselves, hoping to achieve good results in the final exams and secure a spot in the special training class for the third year of high school.
At this moment, Fiona found herself in a difficult position and chose to remain silent, not uttering a word.
"Fiona, do you have any questions?" Harper asked with concern. As the top student in the class, she naturally received special attention. Fiona shook her head and said nothing more.
"Alright, you all have a chance to get into the senior year special training class. I have high hopes for you," Harper said, letting them return to the classroom.
John had just finished his conversation with the history teacher. Seeing Mr. Stern's satisfied expression, it was clear he believed him.
"Mr. Adams, don't you have faith in me?" John asked.
"Just maintain your ranking," Harper replied, shaking his head as if he suddenly remembered something. "Don't embarrass us too much in the final exams. The school leadership is very upset about the poor performance in the last test. They might take serious action against students who perform poorly, possibly sending you back to the regular class to avoid lowering the college entrance rate of the Beast Tamer Class."
"Got it," John said, waving his hand as he returned to the classroom.
John thought, 'Bottom of the class? That will never happen to me again.'
John returned to the classroom and began to absorb the new Beast Taming knowledge in his mind.
The various rare materials from the Alternate Dimension, their appearances, characteristics, growth environments, and effects all surfaced in his mind.
John said, "This world is even more amazing than I imagined."
The rare materials and herbs in his mind opened his eyes, and this was just high school knowledge.
Soon, the bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. John stretched lazily, ready to go home and rest.
"John!" David called out to him as he walked in from outside.
"Aren't you going to study in the evening?" John asked, puzzled, as regular class students had evening study sessions.
"No, I'm too hungry. Treat me to dinner tonight," David said.
"Perfect, let's go." John nodded.
John still had the 100,000 Stellar Coin bonus from the Spirit Control Bureau, which he kept in his bag.
The two left the school with their arms around each other's shoulders and headed to the snack street in the City of Wisdom.
After dinner, it was already 7 PM.
"Let's head back."
They happily rode their bikes back to the neighborhood.
As they passed a shop called 'Beast Mastery Family,' John suddenly stopped.
Such shops existed in almost every city, primarily to customize growth plans for contract spirits, including suitable diets and potions to maximize their abilities.
The staff inside were called trainers, and their fees were high, attracting only wealthy clients.
Not far from the shop, a few people were gathered.
Two men in black suits surrounded a beautiful girl.
"Ms. Garcia, when will you repay the money you owe us?" one man asked, arms crossed, with a hostile tone.
Evelyn Garcia remained silent. She owed them 100,000 Stellar Coins, and repaying her debt was normal.
Evelyn replied, "I don't have that much right now, but I'll repay it all soon."
At that moment, a little girl with a backpack ran over.
"Sis, I finished my homework. When are we going home?"
The girl was about ten years old and looked very cute.
Evelyn was an intern at 'Beast Mastery Family.' Her salary wasn't low, but she had spent all her savings and incurred debt to afford her sister's awakening ceremony.
The ceremony was expensive, even at the lowest tier, and beyond the reach of ordinary people.
The ceremony's purpose was to increase the chances of awakening a high-potential contract spirit.
The two men's eyes turned to the girl behind Evelyn.
"Such a cute little girl. Is she your sister?"
One man reached out to touch the girl's head, but Evelyn blocked him.
"This has nothing to do with her. Don't you dare touch my sister," Evelyn warned coldly.
"Now you're scared," the man said menacingly. If you don't repay the money soon, I'll erase all your sister's homework with an eraser."
Evelyn was stunned.
Not far away, a man with a buzz cut under a tree cursed while smoking, "Two bastards."
He walked over and smacked the two men on the head.
"Useless idiots can't even collect a debt."
The buzz-cut man cursed and turned to Evelyn.
"With the principal and interest, you now owe 200,000 Stellar Coins. I expect 30,000 Stellar Coins every month. As an employee of the Beast Mastery Family, you earn at least 30,000 Stellar Coins a month," the man said firmly.
In the distance, John and David parked their shared bikes.
John saw options appear before him.
[Option 1: Cover your eyes and walk past, repeatedly saying, "I didn't see anything, I didn't see anything." Reward: Skill book: Violent Sit Kill]
[Option 2: Step in and help the girl out of her predicament. Reward: Moderate amount of Beast-Taming power]
[Option 3: Join the thugs and force the girl to repay the money. Reward: Title: Corrupted, Effect: Your contract spirit's personality becomes evil and cruel]
John hesitated for a moment, then walked forward resolutely.
"John, those three don't look like good people. Don't get involved," David said.
If they were dealing with regular students, they could help. But facing these people required careful consideration.
John remained silent and kept walking forward.
"Let's go crazy together!" David rolled up his sleeves, ready to act.
The buzz-cut man noticed the two approaching.
They looked ready for a fight.
Just as they were about to act, John suddenly covered his eyes and repeatedly said, "I didn't see anything, I didn't see anything."
