Chapter 69 You Were Being Disrespectful

John tried his best to imitate Jacob, making himself look a bit sleazy.

"Hope I don't get found out," John sighed. Unfortunately, he had a natural air of elegance, making it hard to appear sleazy.

He carried two large bags of groceries and walked naturally into the abandoned factory.

Inside, it was a picture of desolation, with only a few rusty, dilapidated machines present. In the corner, several people were squatting, conversing with each other about something.

"Why are they all squatting there?" John slowly walked over.

"Jacob, you're back." Ivan looked over and said, "Perfect timing. We're discussing our next plan. Join us."

John nodded and squatted down.

Hugh frowned and said, "Ivan, we've alerted the Spirit Control Bureau. Things are really bad."

"Even if things are bad, we have to act," Ivan snorted, lighting a cigarette. "Think about the times we worked hard in the Alternate Dimension for just a few hundred thousand Stellar Coins!"

George nodded and said, "Yeah, this is about a million Stellar Coins! That's worth a lot of risk! Besides, our leader is dead now, and we can't enter the Alternate Dimension anymore."

"Just thinking about that lord-level Blue-Eyed Snake scares me."

John listened quietly to their conversation, finally understanding that the four people in front of him were once Beast Guards. Because their leader had died, they were now unemployed.

But training a contract spirit required a lot of Stellar Coins. Without access to the Alternate Dimension, they couldn't earn Stellar Coins and had to resort to risky scams.

"Leaving the city is definitely not an option now!" Ivan thought for a while and said, "I plan to hide in the countryside!"

The victims were all city dwellers, so the countryside would be much safer. Moreover, the four of them hadn't exposed their identities. If they hid, even the Spirit Control Bureau would have a hard time catching them.

"What about him?" George suddenly looked at John.

Among the five of them, only Jacob's identity had been exposed, which made him a well-known fugitive. Taking him along would only be a burden.

For a moment, the four of them looked at him in unison!

Their sharp gazes made John shudder.

John thought, 'I just infiltrated them, and now they're going to kill me.'

"How about we just bury him?" Hugh suggested, rubbing his chin.

The four of them were all Beast Tamers and could easily kill an ordinary person.

Options appeared before John's eyes.

[Option 1: Shout, "Don't kill me!" Reward: A small amount of Beast-Taming power]

[Option 2: Say in a deep voice, "Want to kill me? You can try!" Reward: Slime power +3%]

[Option 3: Pretend to be terrified, trying to gain the criminals' sympathy. Reward: Skill Violent Sit Kill +1]

John's expression froze, his eyes darting back and forth as he thought it over. He finally decided on Option 3. Compared to attributes, skills were clearly more advantageous.

"Hugh, you seem to have scared him silly," George laughed when he sawJohn's dazed look, which did make it seem like he was scared.

Ivan said, "Enough talk, let's do it. We're heading to the countryside this afternoon."

Ivan said, "Charles, you kill him!"

Charles was taken aback but nodded.

"Wait!" John exclaimed, "You can't kill me!"

"You've scared him," Hugh said mockingly. "Give us a reason not to kill you. You need to have some value."

"Because..." John said with a fearful face, "because killing is illegal."

The four of them burst into laughter like a pack of hungry wolves surrounding a little white rabbit.

"Charles, show him your uncivilized side!"

Charles stood up, his eyes filled with malice, a smile on his lips.

John trembled as he got up, stumbling toward the factory exit, acting perfectly like a terrified person.

"Jacob, don't run," Charles said, arms crossed, as if toying with John.

John finally reached the factory door but tripped and fell.

"Are you scared of such a large beetle?" Charles summoned his contracted spirit, a 1.6-foot-long black beetle with sharp mandibles and vibrating wings, its eyes filled with ferocity.

It was clearly a contract spirit with an evil disposition!

"You're killing him today," Charles said, stroking the beetle's back.

"Reward: Violent Sit Kill +1! Skill damage increased!"

John lay on the ground, looking panicked but actually feeling very calm inside.

A level five Beast Tamer was daring to be arrogant in front of him?

John said, "Your beetle is big, but my Slime is bigger!"

Before Charles could react, a huge shadow instantly enveloped him.

"What is that?" He instinctively looked up, only to see a round, yellow butt, which became the last thing he ever saw!

The enormous golden Slime, nearly 33 feet in size, plummeted down, instantly crushing him without a chance for a scream.

With the host's death, the black beetle also died instantly.

"What's going on?!" The other three felt the tremor and looked up to see a gigantic Slime leaping up.

"Violent Sit Kill activated!"

"What is that? It's terrifying!" The three of them were horrified, barely dodging the Slime's attack.

John thought it was a pity. If only he could kill one more.

"That's not Jacob!" Hugh cursed, instantly summoning his contract spirit.

A black wild boar appeared, snorting, its eyes full of rage.

The others reacted quickly, summoning their contract spirits.

A blue bird flew low, and a humanoid creature covered in flames stood up.

"Fire Elemental Spirit!" John looked at the flaming creature. It was a special type of Fire Elemental Spirit with a wide range of bloodlines from F to S rank.

Ivan's eyes were filled with killing intent. "A level six Beast Tamer dared to come here?"

"Ivan, are you sure he's only level six?" George stroked his blue bird, feeling that if the Slime crushed it, the consequences would be dire.

"Yes, he's reached level six!" Ivan was able to detect John's Beast-Taming prowess, but his gaze kept darting toward the colossal 33 feet Slime, his eyes betraying a touch of uncertainty.

"He should be level six!"
