Chapter 90 Were You Here to Make a Joke
The three of them quietly left the place. As they were preparing to return to the hotel, a huge shadow loomed over them.
John's eyes widened as he looked up. It was a mighty eagle!
A person dressed in a black robe wason the eagle's back. He had a golden armband on his right shoulder, indicating he was from the Dragon Guard.
The Dragon Guard was on par with the Spirit Guard and primarily handled major incidents on Stellar Enigma.
Unlike the Spirit Guard, there were very few of them, and they operated solo. However, each Dragon Guard was extremely powerful, far surpassing others of the same rank.
"Are you Mia from the Quantum Academy of Techno-Magic?"
Curtis Griffin jumped from a height of 130 feet and touched down effortlessly.
Even Mia couldn't achieve such a feat, which indicated that he was at least a Silver-level Beast Tamer!
Mia opened her backpack and calmly said, "The Black Armored Beetle Lord is dead."
"Young people these days are really impressive," Curtis muttered as he looked at the materials from the Black Armored Beetle Lord's body.
Curtis said, "According to the intel, there should be another student from the Quantum Academy of Techno-Magic on Thunderclap Mountain."
John stepped forward and said, "Curtis, Thomas prefers to keep a low profile. After defeating it, he left Thunderclap Mountain."
Curtis didn't think much of it and left Thunderclap Mountain on the eagle.
Since the lord beast was dead, the crisis was naturally resolved.
The three of them returned to the hotel and rested for the night.
The nights on Thunderclap Mountain were particularly cold. Thomas's naked body was wrapped in a bag, and he shivered occasionally.
However, his body had been strengthened, so at most, he would just catch a cold.
The next morning.
"John, take this."
Mia tossed over a piece of blood-colored shell. If consumed, there was a chance to learn the Black Armored Beetle's skill, 'Black Light Shield.'
'Black Light Shield' was a highly versatile defensive skill that could block both Stellar Coin energy and physical attacks.
In terms of value alone, it was worth at least four million Stellar Coins.
John shook his head and said, "You keep it. My contract spirit is skilled enough."
Mia's two dragon contract spirits had average defense. If they could learn a defensive skill, it would be a good choice.
Mia nodded and put the shell away. Given their relationship, there was no need for too many polite words between them.
Although the Black Armored Beetle incident had occurred, it didn't affect their mood for sightseeing.
In three days, they had explored all of Thunderclap Mountain.
Then they headed to other tourist spots in Skylight City. Since it was rare for them to get together, they wanted to have a good time.
Mia felt incredibly relaxed. Ever since she entered the Quantum Academy of Techno-Magic, she had spent every day in intense competition.
She was either learning various knowledge or hunting beasts in the Alternate Dimension.
The immense pressure and competitive environment had greatly boosted her strength, but over time, the constant tension would inevitably affect her body.
For her, the happy time she was experiencing right now was extremely precious.
Time passed quietly, and soon it was the end of August.
The start of the school year was approaching, and it was time for the three of them to part ways.
When John and the others first arrived in Skylight City, they had dinner at Culinary Journey.
Now, as they were about to part, they came here again.
Initially, they had all disliked this place, but now they were eating happily.
With a look of reluctance in her eyes, Mia said, "John, you must make your way to Skylight City as soon as possible."
John smiled and said, "Of course, I'll come to the Quantum Academy of Techno-Magic after the exams next year."
He also felt a bit reluctant to leave, especially since they were all staying in Skylight City while he had to return alone to the City of Wisdom.
John asked, "David, are you really not going back to the City of Wisdom?"
David shook his head and said, "The school has something going on, seems like they're organizing some training for us."
John raised an eyebrow and said, "Aren't you a genius? You shouldn't need any training."
David smirked and said, "I'm only a genius compared to ordinary people like you. Among my peers, I'm not."
Mia sighed. "Who knows when we'll get to meet again?"
In the midst of their farewell melancholy, the three of them finally finished their dinner.
John returned to the hotel, booked his train ticket for the next day, and prepared to head back to the City of Wisdom.
He was now a Level 7 Beast Tamer, on par with Ava. With the boost from various skills and potions, he could even put up a fight against an A-level Flame bird.
Of course, whether he could win in a match would depend on the specific circumstances.
The next morning.
John packed his luggage and set off alone on his journey back.
"Sir, please go to the Skylight City train station!"
John got into the taxi with his backpack.
The driver smiled and said, "Perfect timing, you're all heading to the train station!"
John noticed a man wearing a hat sitting next to him, who looked somewhat mysterious.
The man's attire reminded him of Thomas from Thunderclap Mountain.
as John was about to rest for a while, he suddenly saw options appear before him.
[Option 1: Get out of the car and run away. Reward: A large amount of Beast-Taming power]
[Option 2: Find a way to negotiate with him and escape. Reward: Golden Slime size +5%]
[Option 3: Shout, "This isn't the way to the train station, let me out!" Reward: Purification potion]
Something was definitely wrong!
John remained calm, as his eyes darted around.
When he saw the first option, he initially thought the taxi might get into an accident. But now it seemed that either the passenger next to him or the driver, or both, were suspicious.
The first option was definitely out. Although the reward was tempting, jumping out of a moving car was extremely dangerous.
As for the third option, it would alert them.
John glanced at the man next to him, Floyd Ortega, and suddenly put his arm around his shoulder.
"Floyd! It's you!"
John smiled broadly, as if he had met an old friend.
Floyd coldly replied, "You've got the wrong person."
Floyd wondered if John had discovered him. But he hadn't shown any signs of suspicion before this.
"Sorry, sorry, my mistake!" John quickly let go.
With that simple action, he confirmed that the other man wasn't physically strong. He definitely wasn't an Iron-level Beast Tamer.
Someone who wasn't even an Iron-level Beast Tamer trying to ambush him.
John relaxed and looked at the driver.
"Sir, this isn't the way to the Skylight City train station. You're going the wrong way!"
The driver didn't respond and continued driving.
"Be quiet!"
Floyd raised his head, revealing a scar on his face. He looked extremely menacing and was clearly not a good person.
Without a word, John punched Floyd, quick and precise.
Floyd was perplexed. He thought to himself, 'This can't be a high school student, can it? How did he change so quickly?'
John kept punching, not holding back at all.
"Stop!" the driver shouted, but it had no effect.
The driver said, "Floyd, didn't you learn martial arts?"
Floyd, who was getting beaten up, covered his head, unable to fight back.
"I only learned some military boxing during training and performed it with my classmates."
The driver was speechless and said, "Then fight back!"
Floyd finally found an opportunity to strike and tried to use a military boxing move,
John punched him again, making his nose bleed.
John said, "Are you here to be a joke?"
