Chapter 120 This Is Your Own Choice!
The unique cries of vendors echoed through the Black Market.
Passersby stopped and checked out John's shop.
Outside, a wooden sign read: [Premium Power Potion: only 28,888 Stellar Coins per bottle! Limited to ten bottles per day!]
Soon, a crowd gathered.
Someone asked, "Is this really a premium Power Potion?"
John shouted, "Absolutely! If it's fake, I'll give you ten bottles for free."
"You wouldn't just give me eleven fake bottles, would you?"
"Of course not! Owen from the Spirit Control Bureau guarantees it!"
John had roped Owen into being his free spokesperson. If it was fake, people could report it to the Spirit Control Bureau.
Plus, having a shop made him more credible than a street vendor.
But even though people believed him, not many bought the potion.
The reason was simple: they didn't have Stellar Coins!
To get the full boost from the premium Power Potion, you'd need forty bottles, costing over a million Stellar Coins. Most people couldn't afford it.
And those who could afford it preferred buying from a legitimate store in the city, where it's guaranteed to be genuine.
In one night, John only sold one bottle.
"My plan has a flaw," John muttered. He had expected the potions to sell out quickly, but his approach was wrong.
"Tomorrow, I'll lower the price to 25,000 Stellar Coins per bottle! Only five bottles!"
John took out a new wooden sign and wrote two lines. The handwriting was sloppy but legible.
[Smashing Offer: Premium Power Potion, 25,000 Stellar Coins per bottle, only five bottles!]
John nodded in satisfaction, believing this would attract people.
Being a small shop, he couldn't compete with the big stores, so he had to lower the price.
Releasing five bottles of potion each day shouldn't cause any issues to the market.
"For now, let's do this. Once the shop's reputation improves, I'll increase the quantity and raise the price!"
First, attract customers with discounts, and then raise the price—a common business tactic.
In the City of Wisdom High School, Dorm 102
Uriah said, "John, what have you been doing at night lately? You always come back exhausted."
"Of course, I went to..." John paused, then continued, "I went to earn Stellar Coins!"
Joshua advised, "We're in our senior year of high school. Beast Taming grades are the most important."
John pouted, "Don't talk to me about Beast-Taming power. Right now, I just want to earn Stellar Coins!"
With that, John washed up and went straight to bed.
Uriah said, "John is wasting his talent."
Joshua sighed, "Yeah, at this rate, in less than a month, everyone in the class will surpass him."
"Looks like we're the only ones with both talent and hard work." They exchanged a smile and prepared to practice their Beast-Taming power.
Just then, a sudden aura appeared around the sleeping John, making him seem a bit different.
The other two widened their eyes in disbelief.
Joshua swallowed and said, "Uriah, I think John just had a breakthrough."
Uriah was equally surprised, "It seems so."
John was already a Level 7 Beast Tamer. This breakthrough would make him Level 8, putting him at the top of the special training class.
"But he's sleeping right now?!" Their shock turned to despair. Their passion for training was crushed.
It was nothing to be outdone by someone more talented and hardworking.
But it's a real bummer to be outdone by someone who didn't even try!
Joshua asked, "Uriah, should we keep training?"
Uriah replied, "Nah, let's sleep! I want a breakthrough too!" He went to bed, feeling defeated by John.
Joshua, equally bummed out, looked out at the moonlight from the balcony, filled with sadness.
He even considered asking his family to spend a couple of million Stellar Coins to force a breakthrough.
The next morning
"That was refreshing!" John felt invigorated and full of energy.
"What are you guys doing?" John immediately noticed Uriah and Joshua, who had dark circles under their eyes and looked sleep-deprived.
Although they had gone to bed, they hadn't slept a wink all night.
They just couldn't shake off the frustration. And the more they think about it, the harder to let go.
Uriah said expressionlessly, "Do you know what happened last night?"
John looked around the dorm and said, "What? Did that Giant Python come back?!"
Joshua sighed and shook his head, "Did you have a breakthrough?"
John felt it and immediately knew he had successfully reached Level 8 Beast Tamer.
He said as a matter of course, "Yeah, I had a breakthrough. So what?"
"Aren't you surprised?" Their eyes widened, feeling another blow to their spirits.
John pouted, "What's the big deal? It's just Level 8 Beast Tamer. It's easy."
They looked up and sighed in despair. The effect of their daily training was no match for that of John's sleep.
John said seriously, "I told you, sleeping and even sitting on the toilet are forms of training. Do you believe me now?"
The three of them headed to the Beast Manor.
Uriah and Joshua looked exhausted, their eyes filled with resentment as they glanced at John, drawing strange looks from others.
Zane came forward, about to speak, when someone suddenly raised their hand.
"Xavier, what is it?" Zane asked.
"Zane! Today, I want to challenge John!" Xavier replied.
Xavier's eyes were full of confidence as he provocatively looked at John below.
"Since you said the strongest person should be the class monitor, I believe I've got that spot locked down!"
Xavier instantly summoned his Earth Dragon, looking majestic.
"John, what do you think?" Zane looked at John with a faint smile.
The special training class should be full of competition to better unleash the students' potential.
John raised eyebrows. Someone wanted to challenge him right after his breakthrough!
"I can accept, but there should be some conditions. Otherwise, everyone will want to challenge me." John spread his hands and sighed, "I need to study too, Zane!"
"Fair enough." Zane nodded, "Then let's use a Beast Taming Orb as a wager. How about that?"
Each student in the special training class received a premium Beast Taming Orb every month to speed up their training.
"I have no objections!" Xavier nodded slightly, his eyes full of confidence.
Although it had only been a week, his understanding of skills had made a qualitative leap.
Options appeared before John's eyes.
[Option 1: Refuse the challenge and say seriously, "You're not worthy." Reward: Moderate amount of Beast-Taming power]
[Option 2: Accept the challenge and beat the Earth Dragon thoroughly! Reward: Five Power Flowers]
[Option 3: Pretend to refuse and then launch a sneak attack, showing the strength of a bandit! Reward: Skill 'Rebound Force' +1]
