Chapter 66 The Wicked Were Punished by Their Own Deeds
John strode away, leaving only a dashing figure behind.
"John is really something." Henry shook his head and went back to sleep.
John stopped by a pharmacy and bought the remaining ingredients. His Stellar Coins were quickly used up.
He returned to the neighborhood, ready to finish preparing the potion.
John asked, "What happened up ahead?"
John saw more than a dozen people gathered at the neighborhood's entrance and decided to investigate.
"Excuse me, why is there a thousand Stellar Coins missing from my bag? And why is my phone broken?"
A girl with delicate makeup but a harsh expression on her face questioned.
Opposite her was a little girl with slightly red eyes, crying loudly.
The onlookers were all talking, but no one stepped forward to help.
John pushed through the crowd and came to the little girl.
John asked, "Bella, what happened?"
John picked Bella up. Bella was the daughter of John's downstairs neighbor.
"John..."
Bella, who was very cute, felt very wronged when she saw John and started crying even harder.
"Are you her guardian?" Alice said impatiently as she frowned.
"Bella, tell me what happened," John gently asked, ignoring Alice.
Bella stopped crying and recounted what had happened.
She had been playing at the neighborhood entrance when she found a small bag. Not knowing who lost it, she waited at the spot for two hours until the owner finally came.
Bella, who had been happy to do a good deed, hadn't expected the owner to blame her.
Instead of thanking her, the owner had accused Bella of taking the Stellar Coins from the bag and breaking her phone.
"John, did I do something wrong?" Bella asked, full of grievance.
In her child's mind, she couldn't understand why doing a good deed would lead to such a result.
John clenched his fists, barely restraining himself from attacking Alice.
At this moment, Alice, who was extremely impatient, said, "How do you plan to resolve this? I don't have all day!"
John's expression turned angry, and options appeared before him.
[Option 1: Return the Stellar Coins Alice lost. Reward: Title 'Legendary Sucker,' Effect: Increased chance of encountering bad luck.]
[Option 2: Ignore Alice and leave with Bella. Reward: Mid-grade Frost Potion.]
[Option 3: Argue with Alice and, if necessary, use special means to make her apologize. Reward: Significant Beast-Taming power.]
John picked up Bella and sneered. "How do you want to handle this?"
Alice's impatient expression turned greedy. "Return my Stellar Coins and replace my phone and bag with new ones."
John grinned. "That's not going to happen."
"If you don't compensate me, I'll call the police," Alice threatened, taking out her phone.
John looked at Alice disdainfully and said, "You said your bag had a thousand Stellar Coins and a good phone. This bag has nothing, so it's obviously not yours. I don't need to compensate you."
The onlookers felt that what John said made sense.
With that, John suddenly reached out and took the bag.
John said, "This isn't your bag."
Alice had been unprepared for John's sudden move and was furious when she saw her bag being taken. "That bag is mine!"
John shook the bag and said, "How can you prove it? The contents don't match what you said."
Alice said, "My passport is inside. My name is Alice. You can check it!"
John took out a passport and compared it with her.
John said, "Are you serious? The photo on this passport doesn't look like you."
The photo on the passport looked completely different from Alice's.
Alice felt embarrassed, knowing John was mocking her.
Alice shouted, "Look at the name!"
John retorted, "Even if the name matches, it doesn't prove the bag is yours."
John remained calm and suddenly thought of something.
John said, "How about this? I'll ask you one more question. If you get it right, I'll admit the bag is yours."
Alice asked, "What question?"
John took Alice's passport out, covered it with both hands and said, "Which side is the front?"
Alice was furious. Alice thought, 'What kind of question is this? It has nothing to do with proving my identity.'
"You're not answering? Then there's nothing I can do."
John shrugged and prepared to leave with the bag.
"Wait!" Alice gritted her teeth and guessed, "The top side is the front!"
John nodded, flipped his hands, and revealed the back of the passport.
"You're messing with me." Alice glared at him, feeling like she had been tricked.
John nodded seriously. "You're smart to figure that out!"
The onlookers burst into laughter. John had a knack for infuriating people.
In the City of Wisdom, no one was better at it than John.
Alice asked, "Why are you, a guy, bullying me?"
"I'm just a student," John said. "You weren't like this when you were bullying others."
"What do you want?" Alice felt scared. She hadn't expected John to be so difficult.
John said casually, "It's pretty straightforward. Start with an apology to Bella. Then we can take it from there!"
Alice lowered her head, fell silent, and after a while, said softly, "I'm sorry."
John said, "Bella can't hear you without her glasses."
Alice was very angry, but she took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry!"
"That's better." John looked at Bella in his arms and asked, "Do you forgive her?"
Bella said, "I forgive her."
Bella wasa child with a good heart and didn't wish to put Alice in an overly difficult position.
"Reward: Significant Beast-Taming power!"
John nodded and said, "Bella didn't forgive you, so I'll keep the bag."
With that, he carried Bella into the neighborhood.
Alice was furious.
"You misheard! Bella forgave me!"
Alice pointed at John, her hand trembling with anger.
"You can't prove the bag is yours. Call the police and let them help you prove it!"
John didn't care about Alice and left with the bag and Bella.
"Bastard," Alice panted, her body trembling as if she were ill.
The surrounding crowd discussed the situation, feeling happy with John's actions.
