Chapter 61 This Time He Felt Sad

"Owen! Long time no see."

Caspar looked at Owen. It was clear they were friends.

"Caspar, are the Power Potions sold in the Black Market produced by your company?" Owen asked.

Caspar nodded and explained, "John is a summer intern at my company, working as a potion assistant. He knows a bit about potion-making. I'll show you the relevant contract tomorrow."

Caspar didn't think much of it, assuming John had just sold a few potions. If he knew John had made a million Stellar Coins in just ten days, he probably wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

Owen nodded. "Alright then, no problem."

Now that it was confirmed John had no connection with the fake potion seller and his potions were genuine with a legitimate source, there was no need to detain him.

Owen said, "You are all victims here. Do you have anything else to add?"

Although Owen knew them, he still had to handle things by the book, especially since the hall was being monitored.

The young man leading the group was about to speak when his phone suddenly rang.

"Hello, my contract spirit is sick again."

The young man shivered, put away his phone, and said, "If he's not in cahoots with the fake potion seller, then forget it. Please catch the real scammer as soon as possible."

The group left the Spirit Control Bureau.

David took a deep breath and said, "John, I suddenly feel very relaxed."

John nodded. "Actually, I feel the same way."

Outside the Spirit Control Bureau, they breathed in the free air wildly, spreading their arms as if embracing a beautiful tomorrow.

Caspar came out and saw them acting like they were sick, so he asked, "Are you two feeling unwell?"

"Mr. Kane, you don't understand!" John said with emotion, "We're not like you. We're good, law-abiding people who don't often visit the Spirit Control Bureau."

Caspar thought, 'Why does it sound like I'm a criminal?'

Caspar felt angry. He thought to himself, 'I helped you prove it, but I ended up being the criminal.'

Casper said,"By the way, the Beast Guard is having a dinner party. Are you coming?"

John looked at David, seeking his opinion.

David said, "I won't go. I need to go home and record this important day!"

John said, "Maybe next time, Mr. Kane. I need to take a break, too."

They took a cab home.

David said, "John, this isn't like you. You're not going to the dinner party?"

John explained, "You're so naive. Caspar probably wants me to pay the bill. I'm not falling for that."

David said, "Good point! You're smart."

David suddenly asked, "By the way, John, were you framed?"

John replied, "Of course I was. I was just worried about having nothing to do during the summer. I must catch that fake potion seller and make him pay!"

Now John couldn't continue his summer job and was idle.

As for summer homework, he would deal with it later.

David nodded, "John, I support you!"

John patted David on the shoulder, "That's good. You're a true friend. I need your dad Carter's help."

David felt helpless.

John said, "I'm worried it might be dangerous. After all, we're dealing with a criminal, possibly a Beast Tamer. With Carter protecting me, I won't be afraid."

David said, "My parents are traveling out of town and don't have time to help you."

David shook his head, suddenly remembering something.

"But I have a friend who might be able to help you!"

John asked, "What kind of friend?"

David seriously boasted, "He's very powerful."

John said incredulously, "You have such a powerful friend besides me?"

John asked, "What does he do?"

David replied, "He sells beef on Rainflower Street."

John remained silent, looking at him with a strange expression.

"John, believe me, I'm telling the truth."

David felt uncomfortable under John's gaze.

John looked at David as if he were an idiot.

They returned to the neighborhood, and David covered John's eyes with his hand the whole way, not wanting to see that look anymore.

"Tomorrow morning, I'll come see you and introduce you to some of the upper-class people in the City of Wisdom."

With that, David ran all the way home.

John muttered, "He's getting a butcher to help me investigate a counterfeit medicine dealer? Am I crazy, or has the world gone mad?"

John returned home, washed up, and prepared for bed. Today's experience had just been too interesting.

Just then, his phone rang.

"Someone sent a message in the group."

He tapped into the South River High School's group chat, which was entirely populated by Beast Tamers, with not a single teacher in sight.

Ethan: [Mr. Mille, thank you for your guidance. My contract spirit has really learned a new skill!]

Ethan: [Sorry, I sent that to the wrong group by mistake.]

How fake. John immediately saw through Ethan's bragging!

Isaiah: [Is it a combat skill? That's a big improvement!]

Jaxon: [It's hard for a Black Iron-level contract spirit to learn a skill. Congratulations, Ethan.]

Everyone in the group congratulated him. The importance of skills was obvious. If measured in Stellar Coins, it would be worth millions.

Skills they learned themselves were especially important, since they usually fit their combat characteristics very well and greatly enhances their strength.

Just then, a message appeared in the group chat.

John: [Congratulations on four combat skills, Ethan ]

Ethan, who was excited, was instantly stunned and a bit surprised.

Ethan: [Thanks!]

John: [Everyone should learn from Ethan since he'sabout to enter the senior year special training class]

Ethan felt helpless.

John: [Any study tips to share? Yourcultural subject score is396, after all.]

Liam: [Why did Ethan's profile picture turn gray? Did he go offline?]

John lay on his bed, feeling very happy.

John hummed a tune and turned off his phone.

At this moment, Ethan clenched his fists, muttering under his breath as his body trembled.

"It's fake! It must all be fake!"

He had been so proud of how much he had improved, but it didn't matter to John at all.
