Chapter 19 The Interview at SourceLife Pharmaceuticals

John and Mia chatted for a bit before ending the conversation.

Although he had plenty of free time, Mia's schedule was extremely tight.

Quantum Academy of Techno-Magic, being the top-tier Beast Taming university, was fiercely competitive.

John pulled up Ava's contact information.

John: [Ava, I've got an interview lined up for tomorrow. Any insider tips you could share with me?]

After a long wait with no response, an impatient John asked again.

John: [Ava, are you busy?]

Ava: [I'm eating cantaloupe.]

John's face showed interest. Was there some interesting news on the internet again?

John: [Is there something interesting happening lately?]

To his surprise, Ava quickly replied. Ava: [No.]

John felt helpless.

A few minutes later, Ava started replying.

Ava: [A pharmacist position. If you're really good at high school-level materials science, you might become a pharmacist's assistant.]

Ava was clear in her response, saying that it was simply impossible for a high school student to become a pharmacist.

Ava: [And don't call me 'sis,' just call me Ava. I just turned sixteen.]

For most people, the awakening ceremony took place in the third year of junior high school. However, Ava didn't awaken until her first year of high school, at which point she was transferred into Beast Taming Class 1.

John: [What if I can proficiently brew a potion?]

John said his proficiency in potion-making, especially the Power Potion, was at a master level. Not only was his success rate 100%, but he could also reduce the materials needed by 30%.

Ava: [What kind of potion?]

John: [Anyway, just give it a try. Maybe a pharmacist will take notice of you.]

Ava lay on her bed with a strange expression on her face.

Ava thought, 'Can a high school student proficiently concoct a potion?'

If it were that easy, everyone would have Beast Tamer potions by now.

Ava, familiar with John's jokes, turned off her phone and focused on training her Beast-Taming power.

"Looks like she doesn't believe me." John shook his head, turned off the light, and started reading a novel.

At 1 AM, John was ready to sleep when options appeared before him again.

[Option 1: Train all night, absorbing the energy of the universe. Reward: Title 'Super Diligent Talent,' Effect: Training efficiency increased by 20%]

[Option 2: Sleep, give up. Reward: A small amount of Beast-Taming power]

Without hesitation, John chose to sleep. Suddenly, a surge of Beast-Taming power appeared within him, roughly equivalent to two days' worth of training for a highly talented Beast Tamer.

The next day arrived quickly.

The bright sunlight pierced through the curtains.

John, still groggy, instinctively reached for his phone to check the time.

12:07 PM.

Still early.

John, in a daze, was about to fall back asleep.

Suddenly, he jolted awake. How could there be sunlight at midnight?

John's eyes snapped open, and he checked his phone again.

"Damn, I slept until noon!" He exclaimed, surprised at how late it was.

No wonder the holiday seemed to fly by; he had no mornings.

John quickly freshened up. His parents had already left for work.

He arrived outside David's house.

John called out, "David! David!"

After a long wait with no response, John shouted loudly, "Fire! Fire!"

Soon, a group of people, holding fire extinguishers and looking panicked, rushed over.

"Where's the fire? Where?"

John was startled, not expecting to attract so many people.

"Owen, Ms. Everhart, I was just joking," John said awkwardly.

"This boy is so naughty!" The group sighed in relief, scolded John a bit, and then left.

After a while, a sleepy David appeared at the door.

David said, "John, what are you shouting about in the middle of the night? The moon is so big, but why is it so bright?"

David shielded his eyes from the sunlight.

"It's already noon!" John looked exasperated, realizing he wasn't the only one who thought it was midnight.

John asked, "Why is your house so dark?"

He glanced into David's house, which was pitch black with no sunlight.

David replied, "My dad's contract spirit skill. I think it's called 'Nightfall', which can improve sleep quality. Pretty cool, right?"

David stretched and turned on the lights in the house.

David said, "Give me a minute to get ready."

Ten minutes later, the two left the neighborhood and headed to SourceLife Pharmaceuticals.

In the City of Wisdom's Verdant Valley, many major companies were located there.

SourceLife Pharmaceuticals was one of the top companies specializing in various Beast Tamer potions.

They splurged on a cab ride to Verdant Valley.

John said, "Let's grab some food first, get some energy, and then go for the interview."

They arrived at a western restaurant that wasn't very crowded, where they ordered a few dishes at random.

"What's the specialty here?" David asked.

David was about to dig in when his face suddenly fell.

"The pan-fried steak, that's it!" a waiter approached them.

"Where's the steak?" David poked around with his cutlery.

"The steak is in there," the waiter said with a straight face.

John and David both reacted at the same time, feeling helpless.

"Are you joking with me?" The corners of their mouths twitched slightly, feeling as if they were being toyed with.

"We just want customers to order this dish," the waiter said honestly.

John said, "Forget it. Let's eat."

John shook his head, not wanting to argue. Despite the small issue, the steak tasted pretty good.

After their meal, the two arrived at the entrance of SourceLife Pharmaceuticals.

Looking at the imposing office building, they confidently walked in.

"May I ask who you are looking for?" the security guard at the entrance asked politely.

"Sir, I'm Ava's classmate David. I'm here to apply for a security job," David said.

"So it's you guys. Ava already informed us." The security captain said with a smile, not making things difficult for them.

Clearly, Ava had mentioned them beforehand. After all, they had saved her life, so she would make sure everything went smoothly.

"Mason, take this student to the pharmacy department."

A security guard named Mason came out and led John into the company.

Meanwhile, David stayed in the security department.

With Ava's connections, David was sure to get the security job. John's employment would depend on his luck.

Mason said, "Becoming a pharmacist's assistant won't be easy."

Mason looked at John with some doubt, as it was unusual for a high school student to apply for such a position.

"I'm not here to be an assistant. I'm here to make potions," John said casually, admiring the office's exquisite decor.

"Making potions. You're funny," Mason chuckled dryly.

They took the elevator to the tenth floor.

A sturdy glass door opened, revealing a series of small labs inside, each staffed by several people in white lab coats.

"Do you want to become a pharmacist?"
