Chapter 71 Five! Five Criminals in Total
"Frost Wolf, attack!"
The power of a contract spirit was something a human body simply could not contend with. A small knife wasn't enough; and even if one had a handgun, they wouldn't have stood a chance.
Unless they had a missile.
Moments later.
"Owen, come to the west side of the city. I've captured the Black Market scammer!"
John took out his phone and called Owen from the Spirit Control Bureau.
Soon, everyone arrived at the abandoned factory on the west side of the city.
"Are they really Black Market scammers?"
Owen immediately recognized Jacob from the Black Market.
In addition, the other three people had all fallen into unconsciousness. George, in particular, was very hurt. His face was covered in bruises, clearly indicating he had been severely beaten.
John crossed his arms and said, "Of course, I won't let anyone who tarnishes my reputation get away!"
"Impressive, you're really impressive!" Owen nodded. He hadn't expected John to catch the scammers in just a few days.
John pulled Owen aside and whispered, "Owen, I killed one of the scammers."
Owen said, "No problem, it'll be fine as long as we can confirm they were accomplices. Anyway, this group will be detained for a long time."
Owen waved his hand. Anyone wanted by the Spirit Control Bureau was definitely a highly dangerous criminal.
Owen thought, 'This wasn't murder. It was self-defense!'
"Owen, do you think the Spirit Control Bureau will thank me for my contribution?"
John rubbed his hands together and raised an eyebrow.
"By the way, there's a task at the Beast Tamer Association with a reward of 100,000 Stellar Coins. I'll give it to you later," Owen said.
"I'm not catching criminals just for the Stellar Coins."
John shook his head, looking very noble.
Owen asked, "Then what are you doing it for? Do you want to be a hero of justice?"
Owen looked at John curiously, wondering what he would say.
John grinned and said, "I'm doing it partly for justice and partly to restore my reputation."
"You don't have a reputation, do you?" Owen was taken aback, looking closely at John.
John spread his hands and said emotionally, "Of course I do! In the Black Market, everyone knows my name. Because of these criminals, my reputation was ruined, and I can't even sell medicine."
Owen asked, "So what do you want to do?"
John's eyes darted around, and he said with a grin, "It's simple. Just sign a statement as the captain of the Spirit Control Bureau explaining my situation."
Owen thought for a moment and nodded.
John immediately said, "That's good. And of course. I still want that 100,000 Stellar Coin reward!"
Owen shook his head. Owen thought, 'You really don't want to lose out on anything.'
The Spirit Control Bureau took Jacob and the other three criminals away.
John and Fiona also returned to the city.
"Thank you so much, Fiona!" John looked at Fiona sincerely.
Fiona shook her head and said, "Consider it a thank you for your help before. Without your help, I might not have gotten into the special training class."
"That's good. We're still classmates in senior year. If you need anything, just come to me."
John patted his chest, looking very generous.
Fiona said, "Classmates? You got into the special training class, too?"
Fiona's eyes widened in disbelief.
John said, "The special training class recruits skilled people. Of course I got in."
Fiona forced a smile but thought to herself, 'This is completely abnormal!'
Everyone had worked hard for two years to get into the special training class. He had joined the Beast Tamer for just a month and had gotten in.
There must be another reason.
John ignored Fiona and suddenly said, "By the way, Fiona, the essay you gave me last time has some issues. Can you revise it when you have time?"
"Essay? What essay?" Fiona looked confused.
John said, "The 2,000-word essay praising me. I feel it's not heartfelt enough. You focused too much on my appearance and didn't delve into my inner qualities."
John shook his head, talking to himself.
When he looked up, Fiona was already gone.
John nodded happily and muttered, "Looks like she understood few of my inner qualities. She went home to write it down."
John said to himself, "Let's turn in the task first."
John stretched and headed to the Beast Tamer Association.
When he arrived at the Beast Tamer Association, he ran into an acquaintance.
John called out, "Uriah!"
It was Uriah, the beef stall owner. He wasn't wearing his butcher's outfit or holding a cleaver but was dressed casually. He looked much younger, like he was only in his forties.
Uriah turned around and saw John, too.
John asked, "Are you here to sell beef at the Beast Tamer Association?"
Uriah said, "I'm here to check out the tasks!"
John asked, "Are you a Beast Tamer?"
Uriah nodded. "Yes."
Uriah crossed his arms, his beard very noticeable, and said, "As a Beast Tamer, it makes sense that Isell beef too."
John's mouth twitched and he went to the counter.
"I'm here to turn in a task."
John took out the proof Owen had given him.
"One moment, please!"
The staff smiled and quickly verified it, saying, "Sir, your task to investigate the fake medicine seller is complete! The reward of 100,000 Stellar Coins has been transferred to your bank account!"
"Thank you!" John nodded with a smile.
"Your task was worth 100,000 Stellar Coins?" Uriah leaned in and said, "That's a lot of money."
"Do you know what I went through?"
John's eyes widened, and he said excitedly, "There were five criminals in total! I went through a lot of danger to complete this task."
For a moment, all the Beast Tamers in the hall looked over.
Uriah's mouth twitched. Uriah thought, 'John, can you stop being so dramatic?'
"The reward was 100,000 Stellar Coins, and you charged me 40,000 Stellar Coins for information!" John crossed his arms and said, "At least refund me 10,000 Stellar Coins!"
Uriah said, "Without my information, you wouldn't have caught them. Only I could have found out where they were."
Uriah pouted. He had no intention of refunding the information fee.
John thought for a moment and didn't push it. If he pushed too hard, Uriah might take out his butcher's knife and hurt him.
