Chapter 115 Serving My Classmates Is My Duty
John could bridge the gap between the Beast-Taming Orb and the Beast-Taming Pearl with just a good night's sleep. He always gets a new option before hitting the sack.
He could either crash or meditate. Sleeping does a better job at fixing things up.
"Don't worry about it. My family has connections for obtaining Beast Taming Pearls," Joshua chimed in.
John and Uriah both turned to Joshua.
"What's the deal?" Joshua grinned sheepishly.
John quickly asked, "What kind of business is your family in?"
"Just a regular family, doing some business," Joshua scratched his head.
John and Uriah exchanged looks, their mouths twitching. Regular family, huh?
A basic Beast Taming Pearl costs 150,000 Stellar Coins, and an iron-level one goes for 600,000 Stellar Coins. That's far from ordinary.
"Alright, students, let's keep handing out the rewards." Zane walked in and started distributing the prizes.
John figured the total value of the awards was around five million Stellar Coins.
"In the future, this competition will be held monthly! The rewards will only get better!" Zane's announcement got everyone pumped.
Not every family had great resources, so they worked their butts off to get into the special training class for these rewards.
With ten months until the exam, the school would shell out fifty million Stellar Coins on competition rewards, and the total might hit over a hundred million.
For high-level Beast Tamers, Stellar Coins weren't that big of a deal. Beast-Taming resources were.
It cost only a hundred million Stellar Coins to nurture two iron-level contract spirits to their full potential.
"Now let's start today's lesson. Follow me to the Beast Manor!" Zane left the classroom.
Ten minutes later, the special training class arrived at the Beast Manor.
"In the first month, you need to learn how to use skills flexibly!" Zane summoned his contract spirit, a massive snake over ten meters long.
Its scales were black and white, and its eyes were fierce. It was the A-level Black and White Python!
Its innate skill, 'Scale Conversion,' let it change the color of its scales.
Black scales had high resistance to physical attacks, while white scales had high resistance to elemental attacks.
Though it seemed like a combat-type spirit, it was more about defense.
"One of my Black and White Python's skills, 'Constriction,' can control the enemy and has some armor-breaking effect."
Zane patted the snake's head and spoke to the students, "John, summon your Slime."
John's mouth twitched, 'Using my Slime as a teaching tool?'
He stepped forward and said, "Classmates, I swear on Karl's life, this snake's constriction really does have an armor-breaking effect!"
Karl's mouth twitched, 'Are you nuts? What does this have to do with me?'
John then said to Zane, "No need to demonstrate. Everyone gets it."
Zane nodded and continued, "Constriction isn't just a control skill. It has other uses. Anyone know what they are?"
Zane looked around, and almost every student instinctively lowered their heads.
John suddenly saw options pop up in front of him.
[Option 1: As a student, lower your head. Reward: A small amount of Beast-Taming power]
[Option 2: As someone with a system, look up at the ceiling. Reward: High-grade Power Potion]
[Option 3: Meet Zane's gaze. Reward: Berserk Potion]
John touched his chin and decided to stare at Zane. He knew the berserk potion could come in handy later.
Zane was about to pick someone when he noticed John staring at him, John's gaze carrying more authority than his own.
For a moment, Zane felt like a student again and instinctively lowered his head. He quickly regained his composure and pointed at John, "John, you explain."
[Reward received: Berserk Potion]
John, happy with his reward, said, "The Constriction skill is fast, which could allow your Python to control the enemy quickly and serve as a protective skill."
"Go on," Zane nodded.
"If the tamer is in danger, the Black and White Python can quickly wrap around them to block attacks."
Zane's eyes showed approval. He had used this move to save his life in the Alternate Dimension.
The Python's speed, boosted by the skill, could protect him quickly.
John continued, "The third use is to shrink its body quickly to dodge attacks."
John added, "Of course, the use of any skill depends on the environment."
Zane asked, "Where did you learn this? Have you studied the constriction skill before?"
"No, it's common knowledge," John said innocently.
The students below twitched their mouths. 'So, we're not normal?'
"John is right. Skills aren't fixed. A damage skill can be protective or controlling, depending on how you use it," Zane agreed. John's understanding was clearly above the others.
"Ava, summon your contract spirit!" Zane said.
The Firebird appeared, emitting intense heat. Karl instinctively stepped back, looking traumatized.
John crossed his arms, "Karl, why are you stepping back?"
Seeing them about to argue, Zane said, "Alright, John, explain the flexibility of skills to the class, starting with Ava."
John said, "Zane, I'm still a student."
This means I have to explain to over twenty students, which will take a long time.
"From now on, you're the class monitor of the special training class!"
"I don't want to be! I'm not interested!" John refused before other classmates could name their objections.
"Two high-grade Beast Taming Orbs every month!"
"Serving my classmates is my duty!" John replied immediately.
