Chapter 51 As Expected of You

The massive, earthy-yellow rats, each about a foot long, emerged in a wave. Their onslaught caused the trees to tremble and the ground to shake violently.

Their mouths revealed two sharp teeth that gleamed with a metallic shine under the sunlight.

At the forefront of the rat swarm, two middle-aged men were fleeing in panic, their eyes filled with despair.

Ava's face showed a hint of compassion as she looked at Caspar.

Caspar, however, just shook his head coldly and made a gesture of silence.

John remained silent as well, tightly holding onto two Ice Rabbits to prevent them from falling.

To ensure a smooth takeoff, he had already given up two Ice Rabbits, and he couldn't afford to let go of these two.

One of the middle-aged men fell behind by half a step and was instantly devoured by the steel-toothed rats, turning into a pool of blood with no remains.

The other man took the opportunity to climb up a large tree, thinking he could catch his breath for a moment.

But the next scene made his heart pound with fear.

Circling the base of the tree were steel-toothed rats, opening their mouths wide and gnawing at the tree frantically.

It was as if chainsaws were continuously cutting through the tree, making it wobble instantly.

Caspar shouted, "Ava, get out of here!"

Caspar's sharp eyes noticed that the tree was likely to fall on the Fire Bird, and he immediately shouted.

The tree collapsed with a loud crash, and the Fire Bird quickly dodged out of the way.

But Caspar's voice also revealed his position.

"Please save me!" The middle-aged man clung to a branch, his eyes filled with despair, shouting hoarsely into the air.

However, no response came.

The middle-aged man was furious and shouted with resentment, "Even if I die, I won't let you off."

A green beetle appeared, viciously leaping toward Caspar.

As an experienced Beast Tamer, Caspar was naturally prepared and dodged in advance.

The man's expression turned to despair as he fell into the swarm of steel-toothed rats, with predictable results.

His body was devoured entirely, leaving only a golden fruit.

A giant steel-toothed rat stepped forward, its eyes fierce, clutching the fruit tightly and letting out a challenging roar.

"A lord-level steel-toothed rat!"

Caspar's expression changed in surprise, not expecting to encounter a lord-level beast on the first day, but he had no intention of engaging.

If they dared to land, the steel-toothed rats would devour them all.

Eventually, the leader of the steel-toothed rats let out a roar, and the swarm quickly dispersed, vanishing from sight.

A black crow appeared, scouting the surroundings. Once it was confirmed the rat swarm had left, they returned to the ground.

Ava's face looked heavy as she asked, "Uncle Caspar, why didn't you save him just now?"

Caspar replied sternly, "You saw it, too. He wanted to drag us into danger."

Morris sighed beside them, "Stellar Enigma is different from the world we live in. There, strict laws and powerful enforcement agencies exist, but here, it's a lawless land. Even if you're killed, no one will know."

Caspar gave Ava a deep look and advised, "I hope you won't be a bad person, but also not a good person. Learn to be an observer."

John clenched his fists slightly and couldn't help but say, "Damn it!"

Seeing John's expression, Caspar shook his head and said, "John, you need to get used to death."

"Those groundhogs ate my two Ice Hares!" John looked heartbroken.

Caspar's words of caution stopped abruptly. Caspar thought, 'It's just like you to think about food at a time like this. Besides, what is a groundhog? Can you stop giving wild beasts random nicknames?'"

"Let's go. I don't know if it's good luck or bad luck to encounter a lord-level creature on the first day."

If it were a one-on-one fight, Caspar could contend with a lord-level beast using his two black iron-level contract spirits,

But the sheer number of steel-toothed rats was overwhelming, and a single Claw Wolf couldn't handle so many.

To avoid encountering the rat swarm again, they changed direction.

Night quietly fell, and the starry sky adorned the clear night.

Even at night, Enigma Woods was as beautiful as a paradise, though the occasional roars of fierce beasts echoed around.

John set up a simple grill, skewering two giant ice rabbits with several iron skewers.

As the campfire burned, a layer of fragrant oil appeared, soaking into the ice rabbits and making them crispy.

Salt, cumin, and pepper were sprinkled on, and the flames made a tempting sound.

As the aroma spread, the driver, Ridley, swallowed hard.

Ridley said, "John, I was wrong. What you brought isn't useless."

Everyone, wearing heat-resistant gloves, quickly stepped forward and divided the ice rabbits.

As the tender meat entered their mouths, smiles appeared on everyone's faces.

Undoubtedly, at that moment, John had won over the entire Beast Guard, albeit with food.

John said, "It's a pity there's no sauce or red wine."

John shook his head, feeling a bit regretful.

In the Alternate Dimension, everyone could only eat compressed food, just enough to survive. No one would think of bringing a bunch of spices and a grill.

The two giant Ice Rabbits were quickly devoured, and Ava even patted her belly with a satisfied look.

After dinner, the Shadowstalkers Beast Guard arranged for night watch, and John and Ava were no exception.

They weren't brought here to enjoy themselves but to familiarize themselves with the survival rules of Alternate Dimension.

Caspar took out a bag of yellow powder and sprinkled it around them. It was the feces of a silver-level lord beast worth thousands for just a small bag, effectively deterring low-level beasts.

The clawed wolf was also not put away but lay by the campfire, eyes half-closed, alert to any potential danger.

The night passed peacefully.

The next morning, they set off again.

John, carrying his backpack, instinctively sat on the Fire Bird's back, causing it to let out a dissatisfied screech.

As they ventured deeper into Enigma Woods, they encountered more fierce beasts.

The Claw Wolf displayed its might, eradicating all the attacking beasts.

They successfully captured three green-eyed snakes, sealing them in special bags and stuffing them into their backpacks.

The group headed deeper into Enigma Woods, trying to find a second-level iron core fruit.

But even by the sixth day, they hadn't found it, though they had collected herbs worth over 200,000 Stellar Coins.

The entrance fee to Enigma Woods was 30,000 Stellar Coins per person, and they had almost earned it back.

"Mr. Kane, over there," John, sitting on the firebird, suddenly spoke.

In the distance, on a giant tree, were striking flags with the words "Spirit Town" written on them.

Caspar said, "It's an Alternate Dimension supply point."

Caspar also looked to the side. "We don't need supplies now. Let's move forward."

Since there were no herbs or fierce beasts around the supply point, they changed direction.

The next day, as they reached a fork in the road,

John's expression suddenly froze, and options appeared before his eyes again.
