Chapter 74 No One More Outrageous Than You
They quickly boarded the train to Skylight City. The journey would take about eight hours.
They would arrive in the evening.
Around noon, David rubbed his stomach and said, "Hey, John, did you bring any food?"
"No, you're the chef. You should have brought some," John said, eyes wide. "Then why is your bag so full?"
He opened David's backpack and was instantly shocked, exclaiming, "You brought so much useless stuff!"
David carefully took it back and said, "I'm a chef; of course I need to bring these."
John rubbed his forehead. "I've never met anyone more ridiculous than you."
"Of course there are!" David nodded seriously.
The other passengers looked on curiously.
David pulled out a large bag from John's backpack.
"You brought out the secret weapon." John quickly stuffed it back and said, "I'm a Beast Tamer. Of course I need this!"
Their conversation left the entire carriage confused.
Fortunately, the train had lunch service. After they ate, David started to sleep.
John muttered, "Looks like there won't be any options today."
John yawned. One of the main reasons he had bought the train ticket was to trigger the system's options.
Since there were none, he also started to nap.
"The train is about to arrive at Digital City."
"Someone took my bag! Someone took my bag! Everyone, stop him!"
At that moment, a woman's shout rang out.
John, who had been resting with his eyes closed, woke up immediately, and options appeared before him.
[Option 1: Stop the criminal, reward: Medium Beast-Taming power!]
[Option 2: Continue sleeping, ignore it, reward: Basic Speed Potion]
John's spirits lifted, and he made a choice instantly.
Nick was pushing through the passengers, trying to escape the train.
John whispered, "You're really stupid. Even if you take the bag, you can't leave the train station."
John shook his head and pulled out the large bag from his backpack without hesitation.
Nick was running when he suddenly felt a shadow looming over him.
"Huh? Who is it?"
Nick struggled, but John hit him.
A crisp sound echoed, and Nick passed out immediately.
"Nice teamwork!"
David was holding a frying pan. It was clearly the 'weapon' that had knocked Nick out.
Their seamless operation stunned everyone.
They had seemed like two ordinary people, but they had turned out to be hiding their true strength!
The seemingly ordinary bag and frying pan were actually very powerful!
Soon, the train police arrived, thanked them, and took Nick away.
But they looked at them strangely as they departed.
John said, "It's just basic operations. We were just doing what we should have done!"
John clasped his hands in response when he saw the other passengers looking at them with admiration.
"Is it you guys?" a sweet-looking girl said in surprise.
John looked at her and said, "I know I'm charming, but you don't have to pretend to know me."
David's eyes widened as he remembered something. He pulled John aside and whispered, "That's the person who borrowed the high-interest loan."
John said, "Someone borrowed a high-interest loan from me? I forgot."
John still looked puzzled. He had no recollection of this.
David reminded him, "It's that person from last time."
John finally remembered who it was and said, "So it's you!"
Evelyn asked, "Don't you remember me?"
Evelyn's eyes widened. She hadn't expected him to have no memory of her.
John explained firmly, "I said I didn't see it, so I didn't see it!"
Evelyn snorted, "You two are so tall, but you just walked away back then."
John blinked and said, "We couldn't help you!"
Evelyn said, "But it was a high-interest loan."
"That's still something you borrowed," John retorted confidently, especially since the system's 'violent sit-kill' reward was too tempting.
Evelyn said a little more. It was normal for them not to help her since they didn't know each other.
Evelyn asked, "By the way, are you going to Skylight City?"
David put away the frying pan and answered, "Yes, I'm going to take the Spirit Chef University exam."
"No wonder you're so well-prepared!" Evelyn smiled.
John suddenly thought of something and said cautiously, "You're going to Skylight City to avoid debt, aren't you?"
Evelyn said, "I've already paid off my debt!"
John asked, "Then what are you going to Skylight City for? You didn't even bring your sister."
Evelyn clearly didn't want to say any more and mumbled, "I'm traveling."
John added, "You better not drag us into trouble."
The three of them chatted along the way, getting to know each other better.
By evening, they arrived at Skylight City East Station.
Following the bustling crowd, the three of them left the train station.
"Let's meet again if we have the chance!"
John clasped his hands and started to part ways with Evelyn.
"It would be cheaper to share a cab," David whispered.
John also whispered, "You're really stupid. What if she drags us into trouble?"
"Goodbye!"
John and David grabbed their bags and turned to leave.
At that moment, a sharp voice rang out.
John and David looked around, searching for the source.
In an instant, a figure appeared behind them,
Someone kicked John and he almost fell.
"There's a thug!" John shouted, wondering who would be so bold to kick him in public.
Before he could finish shouting, someone slapped him on the back of his head.
John angrily said, "Let me tell you, you're messing with a tough guy right now."
Someone hit him again.
"Mia, I was wrong."
John held his head with both hands, finally giving in.
A beautiful girl stood with her arms crossed, a joyful smile on her lips.
Mia said, "John, looks like you know you were wrong. You were so arrogant online."
