Chapter 67 The Person Who Volunteered to Help
"Bella, if Alice comes looking for you again, just send her upstairs to see me, okay?"
John patted Bella's head and sent her back home.
When he got home, he casually tossed Alice's bag aside.
If the police came looking for it, he would return it, but reporting it or checking surveillance would be a hassle.
John had his own ways of dealing with bad people.
He went back to his bedroom and summoned the golden Slime.
After completing the previous task, he had successfully advanced to a Level 6 Beast Tamer, and the Slime's attributes increased significantly. Even its snoring was louder than before!
What surprised him the most was that the Slime's 'Charge' skill had automatically leveled up.
Each breakthrough gave the contract spirit the chance to learn new skills or upgrade existing ones.
Although the chance of upgrading skills was slightly higher than learning new ones, both probabilities were quite low, especially for an F-level contract spirit.
John said to Slime, "You have to work hard and become really powerful!"
John patted the Slime's head and started preparing medicinal herbs.
It wasn't until the next afternoon that the Slime finally absorbed the potion, significantly increasing its defense and size.
If the Slime utilized its gigantification ability, it could reach a daunting size of nearly 33 feet. This was a size that most Black Iron-level contract spirits simply couldn't achieve.
Although its strength was far from Black Iron level, at least the Slime was very intimidating!
John thought, 'My contract spirit is huge. The opponent might not be able to handle it.'
In the afternoon, John and David lay on the couch playing games.
"David, your suck."
John couldn't help but complain. They had played all afternoon and had only won one game.
"No, I'm pretty good," David retorted.
John took a deep breath and said, "Quit it. You suck."
David was silent for a long time, and then said, "But you can't just throw that to my face."
Something seemed to strike John. "I'm going to see Uriah tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?"
David replied, "Nah, I'll pass. I have to attend culinary training."
"You don't think you can do it?" John asked.
David's cooking skills were excellent, but culinary training involved handling beast meat, which was more challenging.
"I can probably get first place." David shook his head, looking dissatisfied with himself.
"By the way, when are your parents coming back? I'm a bit hungry."
John said, "You want to eat at my place again?"
Just then, the door opened.
John's parents came homewith a police officer and a girl.
The police asked, "Are you sure this is your lost bag?"
John immediately recognized the girl; it was Alice from yesterday.
"John, language!" Sebastian scolded.
"Hello, sir!"
John stood up and smiled, ignoring Alice.
Alice no longer had her arrogant demeanor from yesterday. She even felt scared when she saw John.
The police officer said, "John, the investigation is over. Alice made a mistake by putting the Stellar Coin inside, and the phone was broken by accident. If possible, please return the bag to her."
John nodded, took the bag from beside the trash can, and said, "I will, but you need to go downstairs and apologize to Bella again!
"You caused Bella a lot of harm, Alice!" John said sternly.
Alice remained silent and nodded.
John couldn't be bothered to argue with her and returned the bag.
After they left, David immediately asked John what had happened.
After John explained, David slammed the table. "She's really awful."
John looked over and agreed with David.
The next morning, John went to Rainflower Street to deal with the fake medicine seller.
As he reached the intersection, a voice suddenly called out.
"John!"
A pretty girl ran over.
"Fiona?" John looked at his former Class Representative and immediately recognized her.
John said, "What a coincidence! What are you doing here?"
"I live around here," Fiona explained. "I still owe you Stellar Coin, and I was planning to return it today."
"There's no need to rush. I'm using Stellar Coins now anyway!" John said generously.
"By the way, how are you planning to return it?"
Fiona felt helpless. She thought, 'I thought you weren't in a rush. Besides, it's not that I'm eager to repay but that the interest is accruing daily.'
"Bank transfer," Fiona said. "I borrowed 120,000 Stellar Coins from you, and with double the bank interest, that would be..."
"There's no need for the interest!" John said generously.
Fiona looked John up and down. She thought, 'Did you really say that? Are you really John?'
"Please give me a hand!" John grinned, looking sly.
Fiona felt uneasy. "I have a feeling this isn't going to be simple."
John said righteously, "It's not. Just help me catch a scammer! It's our duty since we're good and young citizens of the new era!"
Fiona hesitated for a moment and then agreed. "Alright, consider it a thank you for lending me the Stellar Coin."
John thought that Jacob was definitely not the mastermind. Someone selling mud wouldn't have the guts to do this.
There must be someone else involved, possibly even a Beast Tamer. Ordinary people wouldn't dare to scam millions of Stellar Coin.
John might not be able to handle it alone, but it was different with Fiona.
Her contract spirit was an Ice Wolf, capable of both attack and control.
If they really couldn't win, the Ice Wolf could hold them off while he escaped.
John thought, 'It's nice to have someone to help.'
