Chapter 17 Unlikely Heroes
Liam and the others were discussing and planning their holiday arrangements.
They were all top students, and even a three-day holiday meant burying their heads in their studies.
Beast Training Academy was one of the educational institutions in society.
Because it had a high concentration of spiritual energy, countless students competed to get in, all wanting to improve their Beast Taming levels quickly.
Liam asked, "John, what about you? Do you have any plans?"
John replied, "I'm planning to interview for a summer job."
John thought for a moment and decided to take these three days to check out Ava's family business.
"You've got quite the attitude," Liam said.
John's academic performance was undoubtedly the worst in the class.
His Beast Taming skills were also at the bottom of the class.
This was essentially giving up on himself.
John yawned and didn't explain much.
He was naturally laid-back, and now, with the system, he cared even less.
The world didn't need him to save it, and he had no one to avenge. He could take things slowly.
Wesley called out, "John!"
Wesley, with his dark skin, suddenly appeared at the door of Beast Taming Class 5.
John was taken aback, not expecting his former homeroom teacher to come looking for him.
"Mr. Hughes, what's up?" John crossed his arms behind his head and spoke nonchalantly.
He was now in Beast Taming Class 5, and Wesley didn't have any control over him anymore.
"You're quite the troublemaker!" Wesley gave John a hard slap on the head, not having time to argue much.
He asked seriously, "Did you get into trouble? The Spirit Control Bureau is here specifically looking for you."
"Spirit Control Bureau." John shivered. The Spirit Control Bureau was far more intimidating than the old police department.
Wesley said, "They're in my office right now."
The two hurried to the office.
They saw David and a man in a black short-sleeve shirt sitting and chatting happily.
As soon as John arrived, David stood up and said, "Mr. Jensen, this is my buddy John I was telling you about. You can call him John. You didn't see what happened that day. It was extremely dangerous. The fugitive was fierce, and his contract spirit was even more brutal, but John and I weren't afraid at all. We don't have many strengths, but we are brave! Without any hesitation, we went up and beat the guy up. It was a bloody scene."
David was excited, spitting as he spoke, occasionally twitching.
"Alright, alright!" Owen shook his head, looking exasperated.
Owen said, "I watched you grow up. I know your personality very well."
He looked at John with admiration in his eyes. "It must have been this young hero leading the way."
John saw options appear before him again.
[Option 1: Lower your head and respond humbly. Reward: A small amount of Beast-Taming power]
[Option 2: Recall the event arrogantly. Reward: Randomly enhance a skill or talent of the contract spirit]
[Option 3: "Mr. Jensen, you're amazing. It's exactly as you said." Reward: All attributes of the golden Slime increase by 10%]
John thought for a moment and decisively chose the third option.
Although the rewards for the first and second options were good, they paled in comparison to the third.
John looked at Owen, suddenly turned around, and looked out the window.
John said, "Mr. Jensen, you're amazing. It's exactly as you said."
John recalled the day, his tone full of excitement.
John said, "That thug was so arrogant, daring to bully people in public. I took out a bag, put it over his head, and started attacking him."
Owen said, "Stop! Stop!"
Owen's expression was strange, and he couldn't help but laugh.
Owen said, "You two have been playing together since you were kids."
They loved to make up stories, almost as if they were crazy.
The reward of 100,000 Stellar Coins should be enough for them to get checked out at a big hospital.
Owen said, "I wanted to ask you, how did you find his location that day?"
The fugitive had only summoned his contract spirit and was hiding in the crowd.
Even experienced Beast Tamers couldn't quickly identify him,
Unless the contract spirit had some related detection skills.
"I saw his evil face and knew he wasn't a good person, " John said sincerely.
He couldn't reveal that it was the system's guidance.
"Is this your justification?" Owen's eyes widened in disbelief.
Owen asked, "What if it wasn't him? You would have attacked the wrong person."
John replied, "No worries, we put a bag over his head. He couldn't see us."
Their actions were even more outrageous than they imagined. They were just guessing wildly.
Owen said, "Anyway, you saved Ava, the daughter of SourceLife Pharmaceuticals. If something had happened to her, the Spirit Control Bureau would have been very busy. Here's the one hundred thousand Stellar Coins reward from the Spirit Control Bureau."
Owen no longer had any intention of questioning them.
They were just lucky.
He initially thought John's contract spirit had learned some advanced detection skills,
But now it seemed that wasn't the case.
He also learned from Wesley that John's contract spirit was a Slime.
The chances of such a contract spirit learning high-level skills were extremely low.
David asked, "Mr. Jensen, will the news report this?"
David was disappointed. He had no interest in the reward of one hundred thousand Stellar Coins, but he was fixated on gaining recognition.
Owen said, "A level nine Beast Taming fugitive isn't worth it unless he's a black iron level. If you really want, you can pay for a media interview yourself."
Owen got up and left the office.
The exams were coming up, and to prevent any trouble, the Spirit Control Bureau would be busy.
Although the city seemed peaceful on the surface, it was because of the protection of various official agencies.
"Mr. Hughes, can you arrange a school-wide announcement?" David asked pitifully.
If he couldn't be famous city-wide, he at least wanted to be well-known in school.
Wesley asked, "Did you actually capture a wanted criminal?"
Wesley couldn't believe it. They had saved the top student, Ava, and captured a level nine Beast Tamer fugitive.
"Don't doubt it, Mr. Hughes. It wasn't a coincidence!" David said.
"What did you call me?" Wesley's expression suddenly became stern, and his fierce look scared David.
"Mr. Hughes." David lowered his head.
"You don't need to take the three-day exam break. Go back and copy the history notes ten times!" Wesley said sternly.
He couldn't control John, but he could still discipline David.
David felt miserable.
