Chapter 13 The Protagonist's Worth
John nodded slightly and removed the bag, revealing Dominic's face.
"I know this guy. He's a wanted criminal online."
Soon, the crowd recognized Dominic.
Everyone quickly checked online and found out he was indeed a dangerous wanted criminal.
However, John immediately noticed the bounty amount listed above. It was a staggering one hundred thousand Stellar Coins.
Soon, people from the Spirit Control Bureau arrived; they specialized in handling Beast Tamer criminals.
The Black Market crowd was dispersed, and John, David, and Ava also left Oakwood Terrace.
"Thank you guys for your help this time."
John, David, and Ava walked onto the street. John left his phone number, and if verified, he would receive the reward.
As for David, he didn't care about the reward.
In his words, he didn't need compensation.
John said, "No problem. I love helping others the most!"
The two of them seemed very righteous, always helping the weak.
Completely forgetting how they ran away earlier.
Ava said, "I'll remember this favor. If you need anything, just let me know."
Ava looked serious, clearly not liking to owe favors.
John said, "Ava, we didn't help you for a favor."
John also looked serious, then suddenly changed the topic.
"By the way, I'm looking for a job this summer."
David's body shook. He thought, 'Didn't you just say it wasn't for a favor?'
Ava inquired, "What sort of work are you seeking? I might be able to suggest something appropriate."
Ava brushed her hair aside as the night breeze blew, making her look particularly charming.
But unfortunately, her beauty did not affect them.
David said, "Ava, my requirements are not high. I just want a job that's easy, close to home, and pays well."
David didn't hesitate and spoke decisively.
Everyone hoped for such a job.
"David, your demands are too much!" John immediately spoke, his tone reproachful. He turned to Ava,
John said, "Ava, I just want a job where I don't have to work but still get paid."
Ava forced a smile. 'You two really have some ideas,' she thought helplessly.
Ava said, "My company happens to be short of people. If you need, you can give it a try."
John asked, "What kind of job?"
Ava looked a bit embarrassed and replied, "Mainly patrolling the company and providing security services."
John said, "Security guard."
John frowned. He actually wanted a job related to being an alchemist.
Just as he was about to refuse, David's expression changed dramatically, looking excited.
David said, "Really, a security guard job."
A security guard job shouldn't be this exciting.
John said, "David, are you okay? If your parents, who are Black Iron Beast Tamers, found out, they'd surely give you a beating."
David was, after all, from a well-off family, considered middle class in the City of Wisdom.
Was he really getting this excited over a security guard job?
"John, you don't get it. If you haven't worked as a security guard this year, you're outdated." David looked proud.
John sighed and shook his head. He thought, 'When will David act normal?'
John said, "Ava, I can mix potions. Do you have anything more suitable?"
Ave asked, "You know how to concoct potions?"
Ava's eyebrows shot up in disbelief.
Mixing potions was very difficult.
To become an alchemist, one needed to master various complex pharmacological knowledge, and only graduates from excellent universities might pursue this profession.
A high school student shouldn't be able to mix potions.
Ava said, "I'm not sure about that. If you really want to try, you can check out my company."
Ava didn't immediately accept his proposal. Her family's company mainly produced various kinds of potions, which was the core of their business. It was not something she could decide on her own.
Ava added. "But if you want to be a security guard, just say you're my classmate."
Both of them were tall enough to be security guards.
"Thanks again this time." Ava slightly bowed to the two of them.
They added each other on Facebook and then went home.
David said, "Didn't expect we'd save a top student just by helping out."
David couldn't help but sigh.
David asked, "John, do you think we're the main characters?"
John replied, "I'm not. You probably are."
David asked again, "Why do you say that?"
John replied, "You have the qualities of a main character!"
David was shocked, eyes wide, feeling like he had met a kindred spirit.
David said, "I've hidden it for seventeen years; I didn't expect you to see through it! John, your insight is extraordinary!"
John's mouth twitched. "You're really shameless."
David said, "You just said I have the qualities of a main character."
John said, "Yes, most main characters start as losers, and you fit that perfectly."
"You're really mean!" David raised his middle finger, despising John.
The two of them joked and returned to the neighborhood.
John went home, tidied up, and soon prepared to sleep.
Suddenly, options appeared before his eyes again.
[Option 1: Train all night to absorb spiritual power. Reward: Title 'Diligent Talent', Effect: Training efficiency increased by 10%]
[Option 2: Go straight to sleep. Reward: A small amount of Beast-Taming power]
John didn't expect the system to trigger options before sleeping.
He didn't hesitate and went straight to sleep.
People without a system need to train hard, but if you have a system and still need to train hard, then what was the point of having a system?
The next day.
As soon as John stepped into the classroom, he saw many admiring looks.
"Jonah, you're amazing. While others rely on contract spirits to fight, you fought with your bare hands, truly pioneering a new combat path."
"Of course, Jonah's reputation in the regular class is even bigger than Ava's. Just the style of fighting with a bag is enough for us to learn for a lifetime."
"Jonah, do you have any more bags at home? Please give me one. I want to hang it on the wall as a memento!"
John waved his hand, tilted his head slightly, and closed his eyes, looking like he couldn't bear the praise.
John said, "Everyone, keep it low-key, keep it low-key. It was mainly Ethan's cooperation."
Just as he was recounting the story to everyone, a sharp voice suddenly rang out, "Move! Don't block the way! Who the hell is John?"
A skinny but sharp-eyed student appeared at the classroom door.
Liam asked, "Oliver from senior year. What are you doing here?"
Liam was the first to step up, blocking John.
"What? Am I not welcome here?"
Oliver sneered, crossing his arms.
Oliver said, "I heard that someone in the second year of high school has been bullying Ethan, causing my family to lose forty thousand Stellar Coins for nothing. As his older brother, I must help him. Are you afraid to admit it now??"
