Chapter 97 Do You Think This Is Normal?
"Mr. Alexander! I want out of this special training class!"
"Me too!"
"Count me in!"
Hands shot up all over the place, everyone desperate to bail on the special training class. This wasn't your average class.
Zane had a headache. As the head teacher, he thought he had it all under control. Turns out, he was way off.
In the back, John stared blankly as options popped up.
[Option 1: Stand up and say, "As a normal person, I'm the first to quit!" Reward: Disguise Potion]
[Option 2: Stay silent and see what the teacher says. Reward: Moderate Beast-Taming Power]
[Option 3: Stand up and comfort classmates while packing their things into a big bag. Reward: Skill 'Wind Breath' +1]
John sighed and pulled a big bag from his backpack.
"Guys, chill. I can prove they just had summer jobs, not the thugs you think."
John's voice was strong and reassuring.
Everyone turned to see who was talking.
They saw John, hands behind his back, smiling. His sunny grin put everyone at ease.
"Pack up your stuff and don't make a scene." John held a big bag, packing up knives and psychiatric uniforms.
"Why do you carry a big bag?"
"They're together. I saw them in the bathroom this morning, all using the toilets in some weird way!"
"Yeah, they insisted it was a new method for better flow."
A classmate said, "I tried it and fell in. My clothes are still wet."
People around looked horrified and stepped back.
"You three, come with me!" Zane took a deep breath. This was way harder than he thought. He was already considering running away.
[Skill 'Wind Breath' +1]
John and the other two followed Zane out of the classroom.
"What is going on with you three?!"
Zane looked serious. He'd seen crazy students before, but never a group like this!
"One carries a knife, one wears a psychiatric suit, and one has a big bag! Do you think this is normal?"
"Mr. Alexander, I sold beef over the summer!"
"Mr. Alexander, I was a patient in a psychiatric hospital!"
"Mr. Alexander, I'm a Beast Tamer!"
They explained confidently.
Zane just felt his headache worsen. Where did these three come from? "Listen! I know you all have talents, but can you act a bit more normal? At least on the surface, so you don't scare your classmates?"
After half an hour of persuasion, they finally agreed.
Watching them return to the classroom, Zane shook his head and followed.
"Alright, everyone, John and the others were just trying to liven things up for the start of school. Don't worry about it!" Zane grinned. "We've got an opening ceremony later. Make sure you show up. After that, the afternoon's all yours."
"Oh, and because this class is special, everyone has to stay in the dorms. You'll get your dorm assignments this afternoon, so get your stuff ready."
As soon as Zane said that, the students started whispering. A lot of them lived at home and didn't expect to be stuck in dorms.
"Also, there's a Beast Taming competition tomorrow to set the initial rankings! Your rank will affect the resources you get, so be ready!"
John's heart raced at the mention of the Beast Taming competition. He couldn't wait to see how strong his Slime had gotten.
"Alright, everyone, head to the opening ceremony!"
The classmates all moved towards the playground, while John and the other two headed to the lake by the school.
"Who would've thought the three of us would end up in the same class," John said, sipping a can of Coke, looking totally relaxed.
Joshua nodded, "Yeah, I didn't see that coming either."
"By the way, Joshua, which school were you from before?"
"I was from Celestial Heights School of Magic, and I was top of my grade."
"The school leaders didn't hold back, directly recruiting the top student! And they succeeded!" John sighed, then looked at Uriah. "Uriah, what about you?"
"I never went to school," Uriah shook his head.
"No way, is your family that poor?" John raised an eyebrow, ready to return yesterday's payment to Uriah.
"No, the teachers' stuff was too basic. I wasn't interested in learning it," Uriah replied.
John chuckled awkwardly, realizing it was a misunderstanding.
"Because exams were coming up, I came to City of Wisdom High School. Since I have a support-type contract spirit, I became a student in the special training class," Uriah added.
John nodded. According to the exam system, support-type contract spirits had a bonus mechanism.
There were many types of Beast Tamers now, but support-type contract spirits were still rare.
"What about the competition tomorrow? You guys don't have any fight capacity."
"We have our own way of fighting," Uriah smiled meaningfully.
Joshua nodded and smiled shyly. "By the way, is it okay for us to skip the opening ceremony?"
"It should be fine. Absence of three people, Zane won't even notice!"
In fact, even if there were a thousand people in the class, Zane could spot the three of them in an instant.
Some people could make a mess by merely standing there.
