Chapter 99 I Shouldn't Have Offended You

In the evening, in boys' dorm 102.

John and his two buddies had already taken off to grab some essentials from home, like blankets.

But the dorm was still echoing with some "beautiful" singing.

Brady and his friends were facing the wall, their voices hoarse, but they kept at it. Now that's some dedication!

Students passing by gave them weird looks, some even thought the place was haunted.

"Brady, are we done singing yet?"

"Yeah, we should be."

Even though John and the others had left, they didn't dare leave on their own. The knife was still stuck in the door.

That was the kind of fear John instilled in them!

"Let's go! It should be safe now."

They were so exhausted they had to support each other as they left John's dorm.

As soon as they opened the door, passing students stared.

Vaughn was shirtless, pale, and hoarse, looking super weak.

The other students had strange expressions, with weird smiles on their faces.

"What are you looking at? Want a beating?"

Brady shouted and headed back to his own dorm with Vaughn.

Just then, Karl returned to school from home. Karl was tall and handsome, but his eyes were dark, like a villain.

He asked, "Did you warn John?"

As soon as they saw Mr. Ward, Brady and the others started crying, full of grievances.

Brady sobbed and stuttered, "Mr. Ward! He humiliated us."

Karl frowned, "What did he do?!"

"He crushed our spirits!"

Meanwhile, John was riding his bike, whistling, in a great mood.

He didn't expect to be classmates with Uriah and Joshua, which meant he wouldn't be lonely in senior year.

"I need to bring more big bags for protection," John thought, speeding up on the way home.

Just as he was about to enter a dark street, options appeared again.

[Option 1: You're in danger. Take a risk and counter attack to show your power. Reward: Beast Tamer level +1]

[Option 2: Smartly escape. Reward: Invisibility Potion]

[Option 3: Stand on the street and shout, "I want to fight ten people! Come to me if you dare!" Reward: Massive Beast-Taming power]

John's expression froze. Danger again.

There was something wrong with this street. The first time here, he saw someone getting robbed, the second time he was attacked sneakily by Oliver's followers.

This must be the legendary street of crime.

John was still hesitating; he wanted to complete the first option. After all, it was a Beast Tamer level up.

Once he became an eighth-level Beast Tamer, he'd surpass Ava and become the top genius in the class.

"Let me check the situation first." John threw his bike on the street and sneaked ahead.

Under the dim streetlights, there were no pedestrians around, which seemed unusual.

Suddenly, John heard strange noises from the tree above him.

He raised an eyebrow, and silently climbed up in curiosity.

On the tree, two mysterious men were squatting on the branches.

"Mr. Sims, can we really ambush that student?" A skinny young man, Grant Murphy, asked while constantly slapping his exposed body to drive away the summer mosquitoes.

Adrian Sims nodded confidently, "Of course! I've got it all figured out. This street is his only way home!"

"But Mr. Sims, we've been squatting here for half a month, and the mosquitoes are getting worse."

Adrian touched his chin, frowning, "It shouldn't be. As long as he goes home from school, he has to take this road."

"School?" Grant's eyes widened, "Mr. Sims, isn't it vacation time right now?"

"Vacation? What vacation? I never have one."

Grant felt helpless and weakly asked, "Mr. Sims, have you never been to school?"

Adrian's breath hitched, feeling exposed. "Who said that? I'm a college student."

Grant's mouth twitched, "College student? Which college?"

Adrian randomly blurted out a name.

"Don't lie to me." Grant rubbed his temples and slapped his arm again, killing a blood-filled mosquito.

"Mr. Sims, why aren't mosquitoes biting you?"

"Of course! I used mosquito repellent perfume."

Grant frowned, "What is that?"

Adrian was about to speak when a strange voice sounded in their ears.

"It's mosquito repellent! Idiot!" John chimed in.

"See, even others know." Adrian nodded immediately.

After a moment, they suddenly realized.

They turned their heads in unison, looking at the stranger beside them.

Adrian, with a face full of uncertainty, asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm John!" With that, John swiftly kicked them both. "Both of you get down!"

They lost balance and fell from the tree, crashing to the ground.

John instantly summoned a golden Slime, which grew massively, like a small mountain, pressing down on them.

If it crushed them, they would surely die.

John looked down from above, not expecting someone would take revenge on him.

Just as he was waiting to see their painful expressions, the rapidly falling Slime suddenly bounced back up.

The Slime's big eyes opened, constantly gasping.

John was shocked, realizing there was trouble. He also jumped down from the branch, coming to the Slime.

He saw a wound on the Slime's rear, with colorless liquid flowing out, clearly injured.

"The Slime is hurt." John immediately put away his joyful expression.

Under the dim streetlights, they slowly got up, and beside them was a terrifying black scorpion.

"Black-tailed scorpion?" John was secretly shocked. It was a C-level contract spirit, specialized in attack, extremely dangerous.

More importantly, the contract spirit had reached level nine!

These two seemingly unintelligent people were actually ninth-level Beast Tamers!

"They summoned ninth-level Beast Tamers to get revenge on me?"

John frowned, already thinking of escaping.

If it was just one ninth-level contract spirit, he could still fight, as the Slime had been strengthened for several times.

But Grant didn't fight. If they could cooperate, their strength must be similar.

John asked, "Honestly, I'm a kind and justicial person, always willing to help others, and a model youth of the new era. I shouldn't have offended you, right?"
