CHAPTER 101
I woke up while it was still dark and I was facing Harry while Jax was pressed up behind me and my arm was across Harry’s waist and holding on to Lucas’ hand on the other side.
I laid there for a while trying to go back to sleep but when I realized that it was useless, I carefully got out of bed without waking the guys.
I could see that they were really tired as well. I don’t think they got any sleep while they were looking for me.
So I let them rest and I went downstairs to the kitchen to get a coffee.
I sat at the kitchen island drinking it but I saw the backdoor right in front of me so I got up and made sure that it was locked before I went back to the kitchen island where my coffee was.
I saw a pamphlet sitting on the counter so I grabbed it and started looking through it.
It was for motion senses to be installed and there was a time and date written on the top of it, which was today’s date.
I was assuming that the guys were getting motion senses put in around the house in case something like this happened again.
My stomach started growling and I knew that I was starving. I needed something to eat but I was still having trouble swallowing. So I started looking through the fridge and cupboards for whatever ingredients I could find.
I finally found some berries and ice cream, some ice and to top it off a little bit of vodka.
I pulled out the blender and I started making myself a smoothie for breakfast.
I didn’t think I was being that noisy but Jax came downstairs and he looked a little panicked at first until he saw me in the kitchen.
“Sorry. Couldn’t sleep.” I said.
“That’s alright. At least you’re trying to eat something.” He said, walking into the kitchen. But he stopped when he saw the vodka bottle.
“Don’t judge. This shit actually helps with the pain.” I said.
“You’ve done this before?” He asked, holding up the bottle.
“For years. One of dad’s old cook’s gave me the recipe. I thought I’d get in trouble for getting into dad’s alcohol but if I use just a little then he never knew.”
“Fair enough. I’m not going to tell you what to do here. If this stuff works for the pain then do it…what made him go off and try to choke you?”
“You. And Harry and Lucas. When he found out that we were more than just friends.”
“Oh. I guess I can understand that. He was pretty fucked up in the head.”
“Yeah. He kept saying that he could give me a better life than you could. He could keep me safer than you could.” I said.
“Do you believe that?”
“I called you didn’t I? I didn’t care about any of that. I might not have been gone for too long but I missed you guys. I missed this house. I may have been kidnapped from here, but this house is the one place in my life where I have ever felt safe. I wasn’t going to give that up.” I explained.
So Jax walked over and stood behind me while I was making my smoothie and he wrapped his arms around my waist.
He rested his chin on my shoulder and he kissed the side of my neck occasionally.
I wanted to put the vodka bottle away before the others saw it. It’s not something I wanted them to worry about with me.
So when I finished the smoothie, Jax actually said that it looked pretty good so he started making other smoothies as well. Enough for the guys to have cause we heard them moving around upstairs.
“You don’t have to have a smoothie just because I do. If you want real food then eat real food.” I said.
When Harry and Lucas came downstairs, they didn’t argue about the smoothies either. Jax put a bit of vodka in theirs as well but I don’t think they could even taste it.
It might not have been as much as I put in. But mine was just to numb my throat for the time being.
“Did you guys call anyone to clean up the mess at the house?” I asked.
“No. We left everything as it was. In the house because it is now owned by Kayden. He’s gonna have a lot of questions to answer. And it might keep him away from us for a while.” Harry said. And I nodded my head.
“Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.” I said, sarcastically.
“We did call the police though and said that we heard gunshots. So, the police have already found the bodies.”
“How did you stage it? You killed everyone and then committed suicide?” I asked.
“Alora. We were thinking about Bentley but he took two bullets to his rib cage and in his back. So that wasn’t going to work. Alora’s bullet went through her temple.” Lucas explained. And I nodded my head.
“You don’t need to know so many details. Just know that it was a murder suicide. We didn’t have to mess with the scene except give Alora one of our guns. It wasn’t registered and the serial number was filed off of it. So, you don’t have to worry.” Jax said.
“I know. But I kind of feel like we’re in this together. If anyone figures it out, we should all go down for it together.” I said.
“No one is going to figure it out. We know what we’re doing.” Harry said.
“I know.” I said.
“What do you want to do today?” Lucas asked.
“Honestly, I just want to stay home. I’m gonna email all my teachers and get them to send through the assignments that I’ve been missing. I can’t keep missing school otherwise I won’t graduate.” I said.
“Are you planning on going to college in town here?” Lucas asked.
“I don’t know where I plan on going to college. It’s not something I’ve really had the time to look into. But you guys can’t leave because of William and your obligation towards him so it’ll probably have to be here.” I said.
“Well, we’ll work something out.” Jax said.
“I want to learn how to drive. And not just drive. I want to learn defensive driving. How to get out of bad situations if I have to.” I said.
“Alright. You do know how to drive. Don’t you?” Lucas asked.
“Yeah. But not defensive driving. I want to be able to take care of myself if I have to go out. I mean, I don’t expect you guys to drive me everywhere. You have your own shit to do. And I don’t want to be cooped up in the house all day every day while you’re out doing whatever it is that you do.” I explained.
“We’re upping your training first.” Harry insisted. And I nodded my head.
I was definitely all for that. But I knew that I needed a few days to rest before we could start training again.
But it looked like they were on board. They were going to teach me how to drive defensively in case I get into a sticky situation while I’m out. And I was glad that they weren’t giving me too much resistance.
After what just happened I was assuming that they were going to give me 24-hour protection.
And honestly, even with this defensive driving and all that other crap, I wasn’t entirely convinced that they weren’t going to give me freedom to do whatever I wanted.
I had a feeling that they were still going to be watching everything I did. And those motion senses that they were getting installed was my first clue.
