CHAPTER 109
SKYLAR POV
I could tell that all the guys were worried about me and I didn’t blame them. A random girl that I went to middle school with just suddenly appears now. That’s not a coincidence. Not with everything else that was going on.
I wasn’t going to let it rattle me too much though. I don’t think Claire is too much of a threat, although I would like to know how she found out where I lived, but otherwise she was just a school bully.
There were a lot more dangerous people to deal with right now.
When I went to bed that night, I found it really hard to sleep. Even with the guys there with me and where I felt the safest. I just had this horrible feeling in my stomach that something was going to happen. I managed to sneak out of bed and I walked down to the kitchen to get a coffee.
I went to the living room and sat on the couch while I was thinking things over in my head when I saw that same car parked out the front of the house. The same one that we’ve seen hanging around outside school and around town.
I walked over to the window, without the lights on, so they wouldn’t be able to see me and I could vaguely make out two people in the front seat through their window tint. I walked over to the lamp table next to the couch and I reached underneath it to grab the gun that the guys kept tapped under there. We had weapons hidden everywhere around the house. I went out the door on the side of the house and I managed to sneak over to the garden that lined the driveway and I stood just inside the brick fence.
I peeked around the side of the fence and they were still sitting in the car. I could tell that they were watching the house but before I could do anything, someone grabbed me from behind and held his hand over my mouth. Forcing me against the fence so I was facing him.
“Harry. You scared the shit out of me.” I whispered.
“What the fuck are you doing?” He asked.
“That car has been following us. Don’t pretend like you haven’t seen it. I want to know who they hell they are.” I said.
“So do I. But you could have come to get us. You don’t know how to do this.” He said, grabbing the gun off of me.
“Well, they haven’t spotted me yet have they?” I asked.
“Just stay behind me.” He said.
“Fine.” I said.
So he walked in front of me, and I watched his every move to sneak out on the car.
They weren’t watching as Harry approached the car and he managed to smash the front window, causing them to panic because they weren’t watching and before Harry could even grab the guy in the passenger seat, the driver stepped on the pedal and took off.
They’d kept the engine running the whole time.
We heard them speed off and turn the corner. But Harry didn’t bother going after them. He came back to me and took me back inside.
“How the hell are we going to find out who they are?” I asked.
“I don’t know. But I don’t think that’s even going to scare them away. We’ve approached them before so they know that we know they’re watching. They’re not going to stop.” Harry said.
“Do you think they work for Lucas’ father?” I asked.
“It’s possible. I don’t know everyone that works for his dad. But I don’t know why William would have people watching us.” Harry said.
“It’s got something to do with me, obviously. You guys only started getting all of these problems when I showed up.” I said, sitting on the couch.
“Believe me. We had plenty of problems before you came into the mix.” He said.
We then heard a couple of loud footsteps come running down the stairs and I turned to look at Lucas and Jax.
Harry was taping the gun back to the lamp table.
“What happened?” Jax asked.
“It was just that same car that’s been following us. It was parked outside.” Harry said.
“Do you think it could be your dad behind it?” I asked, looking at Lucas.
“Honestly, I have no idea. Dad’s into all sorts of freaky stuff.” Lucas said.
“What does that mean?” I asked.
“Oh, nothing. It’s not important. I think he’s just a little worried because you’re here and he’s not sure if he can trust you to keep his secrets.”
“Well, if he knows anything about me then he would know that I’ll keep my mouth shut because I don’t want you guys to get into trouble.” I said.
“He’ll ease off eventually.” Lucas said, sitting next to me on the couch.
“Couldn’t you sleep?” Jax asked, looking at the coffee next to me.
“No. I was having trouble.” I said.
So Lucas grabbed the remote and turned the TV on so we could watch a movie until I started getting tired. And until I could get my mind off of everything off my mind.
A little while later when I was feeling pretty tired, we started walking upstairs when Lucas’ watch started making an alarm sound.
He stopped walking and looked at it quickly.
Without saying anything he grabbed me by the hand and pulled me back down the stairs with Jax and Harry right behind us. We went into the surveillance room, which was also a panic room, and Harry locked us in there. Lucas pulled up the camera’s to see which alarm had been set off and we saw a man wearing all black approaching the backdoor.
“How the hell did he get out the back? The other alarms would have gone off.” Jax said.
“I don’t know.” Lucas said.
So we stood there watching him.The guys looked straight up at the camera, almost like he knew that we were watching him, but he had a mask on as well so we couldn’t see who it was. He held up an envelop to show us and then placed it on the back doorstep before he turned around casually and disappeared into the darkness.
We didn’t have a clue where he went. So Harry told us all to stay here while he went to get the envelop. We watched him on the monitors to make sure that there wasn’t anyone else lurking around and when he grabbed the delivery, he brought it back into us.
“It just has your name on it.” Harry said, looking at me.
So I grabbed it and I opened it. I took out the photos that were inside and they were all photos of my dad’s smashed up car after it had been pulled from the lake. There were photos of the smashed up car being pulled from the lake and then there were photos of me driving and deliberately driving it straight into the lake with my father in the passenger seat.
But there was also a single piece of paper with it.
*There is always someone watching.*
