CHAPTER 14
I was sitting on my bed anxiously waiting for the guys to come back to the hospital. I was trying to figure out what I was going to say to them, but I didn’t know how they were going to react. I knew what I wanted to say, but I was scared that they would think that I was crazy. I was scared that they would abandon me and think that I was just as bad as my father.
I didn’t want them to turn their backs on me, but I knew that there was only one way for me to get on with my life without looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life.
When the guys arrived back into my room, Jax sat on the same seat right next to my bed that he had basically claimed as his and the other two were standing on the other side of the bed.
“You’re looking straight at me. Is your eyesight getting better?” Jax asked.
“It’s getting a little clearer.” I said.
“That’s great. Is everything alright? You sounded a little worried on the phone.” Jax said.
“I’ve decided what I want to do. I need your help but I don’t know if you guys will be willing to help me with it.” I said.
“What is it?” Lucas asked. So I looked at all three of them before I took a deep breath and I calmed myself down a little.
“I will live with you. I’ll move into your house. But I want you to help me get my father out of my life forever.” I said.
“He’s going to go to jail. You don’t have to worry about him.” Jax said. But I started shaking my head.
“You don’t know him like I do. And you definitely don’t know the lawyers that he has. He’s not going to go to jail for anything he’s done to me. He’ll get away with it.” I said.
I knew that for a fact. I always knew. That’s why I told them that he wasn’t going to stop until he killed me.
He knows that I’m talking to people now and that his secrets are getting out there. His reputation will take a hit, but that’s about all. And that’s all he’s going to need to get rid of me. That’s the excuse that he will need to make sure that he can live with himself for killing me.
The guys looked a little skeptical about my father getting away with it, but I knew that he would. They needed to trust me here.
“He will get away with it. Trust me. I don’t want to end his life. I want to destroy him. Everything he has. His company, his money, his so-called perfect life. I want to take it all away from him until he has nothing left. And when he has nothing, I’ll let him choose if he wants to live or die and I will have complete control over his life for a change.” I explained.
The guys all looked at each other with indecipherable looks on their faces at first.
Suddenly I saw a smile start to creep on Harry’s face, followed by Lucas and Jax.
“I think we can get on board with that.” Jax said.
“You don’t think I’m crazy?” I asked.
“No. I think you’re actually going easy on him. If it were me, I’d hire a hit man and get him taken out before anything else.” Lucas said. But I shook my head.
“I want to see him suffer.” I said, adamantly. And they agreed. He should suffer.
Jax was looking down at the ground and I was afraid of what he was thinking. Like he might try to stop me or something.
But when he looked back up at me, he was still smiling.
“I think this is going to be fun. Who knew you had such a dark side. It’s pretty hot.” Jax smirked, winking at me. But I looked away, embarrassed and he started laughing.
“You can count on us.” Harry said.
Lucas slapped his hands together, causing me to jump with a really thrilled look on his face and he grabbed one of the other chairs and pulled it up to the bed.
“Alright. We’ll provide you with protection and all the assistance that you will need. You don’t need to worry about a thing. We’ll be by your side the whole way.” Lucas said, holding my hand. And I couldn’t help but smile at him.
Once they got the discharge papers and the home care advice for me from the doctor and he gave me the all clear to leave the hospital.
I was still wearing a hospital gown and I looked around, but my eyesight was still blurry and I couldn’t see around my room too well.
“I don’t have any clothes.” I said, managing to finally get out of bed.
“Oh. That’s alright. There’s a store down the road. We’ll go and get you something.” Lucas said.
“You don’t know my size.” I said. And he leaned over to me, a lot closer than usual.
“I’ve known your size since the moment I saw you.” He winked at me with a cheeky grin on his face and Jax pushed him away.
“Would you get out of here? Go and get her some clothes.” Jax said. So Lucas left while laughing and Harry followed him.
“Sorry about him. He thinks he’s funny. He just does it at the wrong time.” Jax said. But I smiled at him and I sat back on the side of the bed.
“It’s alright.” I said.
I sat there looking out the blurred window trying to make out what was going on outside. But I knew that I was up high, so I wouldn’t be able to see much even if I could see.
I could probably see trees and birds. That sort of crap. Nothing too interesting.
I started wondering if I was doing the right thing here. I knew that destroying dad was the right thing. I knew taking everything away from him was the right thing. At least it was for me.
But I started wondering if getting the guys involved was right? What if things went bad? What if the guys got busted or in trouble for something that they were doing to help me.
I was scared of how far I was willing to go because I didn’t want to take them down with me. Even if they were willing to help me. I’m not sure that they know what they're in for yet.
