CHANGED 105
When we got back to the house I walked inside and went to the kitchen to get something to eat.
I stood in the kitchen thinking about how I stood there watching those three beat down on Ashby and it didn’t even make me flinch.
Stuff like that, hurting another person, used to make me freak out. But now, it didn’t worry me at all.
Probably because my dad’s name came up. That’s always been a problem with me.
I decided to cook up something for everyone to eat and we all just went on like nothing was wrong. When really, we were all just avoiding the fact that we don’t know where my father’s money has disappeared to.
“So, what have we got planned for tomorrow?” I asked.
“School.” Jax said.
“Do we have to?” I asked, rolling my eyes.
They just chuckled at me as Lucas walked up and wrapped his arms around my waist.
“I think we should attend occasionally.” Lucas said.
“And I already told you that I was happy doing it online. I’ll still get my diploma. I just won’t have to go to school every day.” I said.
“Honestly, that does seem like a better option.” Harry said.
“That way I can train more and you guys can take me on more jobs with you. To find out who else has bought my fathers belongings and possibly find out where all the fucking money went.” I said.
They all looked at each other for a moment before they all decided that it would be a good idea.
So the guys went to clean up since they were all covered in blood and when they came back downstairs, dinner was ready.
We all ate together, talking about anything and everything. Trying to pretend like nothing was bothering me or the guys. But I knew they were also bothered by the money disappearing into thin air.
It had to be going somewhere.
And our main thoughts were thinking that the money that has been profited from his death may have gone to a hit squad. A hit squad that’s tasked to take out whoever killed him if it’s under suspicious circumstances. Or possibly it was just to kill me if I was still alive once he was dead.
I knew that his lawyer would have to know all about it. Now, only to get a way to make that prick talk. He would tell us everything that we needed to know.
The only problem is, we don’t know where he is. Since dad died, he somehow disappeared. I’ve been trying to look for him but he hasn’t been seen in weeks.
Not under suspicious circumstances. But he did pack up his house and leave. Which gave me reason to believe he has something to hide from.
Possibly the guys if he knew about them before dad died. Which is highly likely.
After dinner I went to have a shower and get dressed while the guys stayed downstairs.
I decided to go and look for them and I found them in the surveillance room.
“What’s going on?” I asked, going inside.
“We’re trying to see if there’s been any weird activity on the camera’s. People hanging around a lot more than usual or people that we don’t recognise at all. That sort of thing.” Jax explained.
“Anything?” I asked.
“No. Nothing yet. There’s nothing here that we’ve been able to find.” Harry said.
“Well, that’s a good thing. It means that maybe the money didn’t go to a hit squad.” I said.
“Do you really believe that?” Jax asked.
“Not one word.” I said, sitting in the chair and looking at the camera’s as well.
I wasn’t sure how late we stayed up that night reviewing the recordings for the last few weeks, but it was pretty late.
So when we finally went to bed, we all crashed.
When we got up the next morning we barely even had a chance to wake up properly before we left and went to school.
I talked to the principal about doing all of my classes online because there’s too much going on in my life and he gave me the appropriate information I needed so that I could do home schooling and the guys got the same information. Because they are also meant to be at school as well. But all of our lives have gotten way too complicated at the moment.
As soon as we walked out of school, we started heading back to the car when I saw that same strange car parked over the road.
“What is it?” Harry asked.
“That car. I’ve been seeing it a lot lately.” I said.
“So have I.” Lucas said.
So Harry and Jax left me alone with Lucas and they both started approaching the car.
As soon as they started getting close enough, the car started to move away.
Harry and Jax started running after it and it peeled into the street and disappeared around the corner.
They couldn’t catch the car and they stopped at the corner before they came back to where we were.
“The hit squad.” I said.
“Did you get the plate?” Lucas asked.
“It didn’t have any. Not at the back.” Jax said.
“So, we can’t trace it.”
I knew that he was a determined man, but to hire people to kill me after he died was a little extreme. Even for him.
It didn’t make any sense. I mean, it really did look like an accident. So either someone else was there who knew that it wasn’t an accident or dad had this planned all along. And both just seemed absurd to me.
But then again I was even surprising myself. Why wouldn’t dad do something like this? I mean, he was a sadistic control freak. Of course he’s still controlling things now that he’s dead.
As soon as we got to the house we saw a car parked out the front of the house so we pulled up next to it and got out cautiously.
The guys telling me to stay behind them.
But when a couple in their 60’s got out of the car, I moved around to be in front of the guys.
“Nan and pop?” I asked, surprised.
