CHAPTER 62
LUCAS POV
To say that I was especially happy this morning would be an understatement. I don’t like that we had to leave Skylar alone at the house, but once we finished what we had to do, we’d be right back there.
I obviously wasn’t going to talk to the guys about it. And they weren’t asking me either. Although I could tell that they wanted to. But whatever happened last night and this morning, that’s between myself and Skylar.
I know that she would be mortified if I started talking to the others about this. And I didn’t miss the little sideways glances that they were giving me. But this wasn’t going to be a conversation. No matter how desperate they were for the details. I know that they weren’t pissed at me or at her. But they also had to understand that just because she had sex with me, doesn’t mean that it automatically gives them a right to sneak into her room tonight to expect the same thing.
We weren’t going to talk about this and I wasn’t going to talk about Skylar like I had talked about all the others I’d slept with in the past. And the point system we had, that was definitely out the window.
I wasn’t rating Skylar on any fucking point system.
I can’t believe that we used to do that. But to be fair, the others that we slept with her just meaningless conquested who we barely knew and never planned on seeing again.
“Alright. This is the address.” Jax said as he pulled up out the front of a really large iron gate.
We pulled off the road and hid the car behind a few trees so it wasn’t easily seen and we checked out the perimeter of the house.
We could see the large house way back in the distance and there were guards walking around the outside of the house. But there was no one checking the fence. So we found a secure spot and we grabbed our equipment from the car and pulled the masks down over our faces and we climbed the fence and landed on our feet on the other side.
We made our way through the trees on the property and we would point out guards or camera’s if we saw them.
The house was massive. Three stories and a lot of rooms on each floor.
We were going to have to split up for this. So Jax went one way and Harry went the other which meant I got the ground floor.
I grabbed the gun that I had in the back of my pants and I put the silencer on it and I double checked to make sure that it was fully loaded and I started making my way towards the house.
I ran across the field and raised my gun and shot the guards the second they saw me.
They barely even saw it coming.
I got up onto the back veranda and I looked inside the window to see no one hanging around just inside.
I opened the door and snuck inside.
I already had a photo of the target, so I knew who I was after. But anyone else that I saw was fair game.
There was a man starting to walk down the stairs but it wasn’t anyone I recognised and he was holding a rifle so I took him down quickly and I started clearing all the rooms on the first floor.
There wasn’t anyone else around but then I started getting a message in my ear piece.
“Lucas. Second floor.” Jax said. So I found my way to the stairs and started walking up them, keeping the gun in front of me the whole time and watching out for anyone else that might be a threat.
I reached the office on the second floor and Jax and Harry were already there.
They both stepped aside and I saw a man sitting behind the desk and I took my mask off when I saw him.
“Uncle Liam. You’re not the target.” I said.
“If your father sent you, then I am the target.” Liam said.
“I don’t understand.” I said.
“He’s been wanting to run me out of business for years. And he made me an offer that I refused because I am doing better than him. So he wants me dead, obviously.” Liam said.
I pulled out my phone and I showed him the picture that my father had sent to me of the man that we were meant to be looking for.
“That’s my husband.” Liam said. And I put the phone down.
“He wanted me to kill your husband?” I asked.
“Yeah. Because he’s the one that is currently running the business. Since I’ve been sick.” Liam said.
“What do you want us to do?” Harry asked.
So I looked at them and I went back downstairs.
I grabbed a few things from the kitchen and I went back up to the office.
“Get your husband here, now.” I demanded.
So Liam picked up the phone and called his husband and got him to come home straight away.
It took a while for him to get home, but I made sure that they were both in the office and I used whatever I could from the kitchen to make it look like blood and I squirted it on Liam and his husband.
I arranged them around the room so it looked like they were dead and then I took photos of them. I made sure that they really did look dead.
“Go and pack whatever you can. Get the hell out of town. Right now. Stay hidden. Don’t let dad know that you’re alive.” I ordered.
“We will. Thank you Lucas. I always knew you were my favorite nephew.” Liam said.
“Well, I’m not about to kill family. Especially when my father tricks me into doing it.” I said.
As soon as they were packed and they got in their car to leave, Liam says that he will stop by his lawyers office and change a few things. Then they’ll be gone. But dad would never know about it.
I told them just to hurry up and get the hell out of town before dad finds out that we didn’t kill them.
Otherwise he’ll have us killed. Or worse.
“That was a pretty decent thing to do.” Harry said as we got back in the car.
“I don’t know why the hell he would send me to kill his own brother. They’ve never been rivals before.” I said.
“Well, that’s something you’re gonna have to take up with him. We just go where we’re told.” Jax said.
“Let’s just hurry up and get home.” I said.
It took us another half an hour to get home but once we did we all sat in the car for a moment staring at the SUV in the driveway.
My heart sank when I saw it there and we got out of the car and walked up towards the front door.
We couldn’t hear any yelling or anything like that but as soon as we walked inside, we saw Skylar on the couch.
She had a gag in her mouth and her wrists and ankles were tied.
She had blood coming from her forehead and bruises that were already starting to show on her face and arms.
