CHAPTER 104
We all walked inside together and I was the last one to enter the office as William and Joseph were both there staring at me.
Jax still had a hold of my hand and he wasn’t even loosening his grip, no matter how much I tried to get him too.
“I said that I only needed to talk to you three.” William snarled at them.
“Well, where we go she goes. Otherwise one of us would have stayed home with her.” Lucas said.
“She’s not that damn important.” Joseph said.
“Then why did your daughter’s best friend just conspire in her kidnapping?” Jax asked.
“Grace knew nothing about that.” Joseph said, turning his back to us.
So Harry and Lucas sat at two of the chairs that were in there but Jax sat on the couch with me, protectively putting his arm around my shoulders.
“Well, we need to talk about business.” William said.
“Yeah. Talk. We don’t have any secrets from Skylar. She knows what we do.” Harry said.
William turned to look at me with a really dirty look on his face, but Jax just pulled himself towards me even more so he would look even more protective.
“Fine. Ashby. We need you three to send him a message.” William said.
“What sort of a message?” Lucas asked.
“He turned down our business proposal. You have to make him change his mind.” Joseph said.
“Alright. Don’t kill. Just hurt him. Is that all?” Lucas asked.
“We wanted to talk to you three about the kidnapping.” William said.
“What about it?” Jax asked.
“We think that having attention on Skylar while she’s living at your house is too risky.” William said.
“No one has their eye on Skylar. She’s not on anyone’s radar.” Jax said.
“There will be evidence in the house.” Joseph snapped.
“I got rid of all the evidence. And we made sure that nothing would tie back to Skylar. She’s clean. It’s as if she was never even in the house.” Lucas said.
“It was her father’s house.” Joseph yelled.
“Yeah. It was her father’s house. But everyone knows that they hate each other. And Skylar didn’t even know that it was her father’s house when she was first there.” Harry said.
“The cops will question her about the house.” William said.
“Well, she doesn’t know anything.” Lucas snapped.
“If the cops come here looking for answers then all of you are going to pay.” William snapped.
So Jax stood up while still holding my hand and the other two stood up as well.
We all walked out of the office and Jucas slammed the front door closed as we left.
“Let’s just go and take care of Ashby. Skylar can come and observe what we do to scare someone.” Lucas said.
So we all got back in the car and we drove to another house that wasn’t too far from William’s house.
It was in the same neighborhood, but Ashby’s house was smaller. Not much smaller, but it was still smaller.
There were definitely going to be servants inside so we snuck around the outside of the house and Harry cut the power and the security alarm before Lucas picked the lock and we all went inside.
It was only a matter of seconds before we encountered a butler and two maids.
The guys locked them in a closet and we continued through the house.
There weren’t any guards. Just people who worked there as cleaners and whatever else their jobs entailed.
I was told to stay back, and that’s exactly what I did.
I stood back and watched how they took out everyone that would set off an alarm to us being there.
And then, we sat in the living room and waited.
“This is always the worst part of the job.” Lucas said.
“Waiting for them to come home? How do you know that he’s not going to be working late?” I asked.
“That’s usually a risk that we have to take. We sit here for as long as we have to.” Harry said.
“Harry. Change seats with me.” I said.
“Why?”
“If he walks through that door and sees you, he’ll run in the other direction. But if he walks through the door and sees me, he might have a different reaction.” I said.
All the guys looked at each other strangely before Harry stood up off the chair that he was on.
“You’re going to use yourself to lure him in?” Lucas asked.
“Yeah. Is there something wrong with that?” I asked.
“No. The opposite actually. I’m surprised that we didn’t think of it. Since we’re all here to make sure that you don’t get hurt.” Lucas said.
“Okay.” I said.
We didn’t have to wait too long before we heard a car pulling into the driveway.
The power had been cut so no lights were working and I made sure I was sitting near the window so the light from outside was illuminating off of me.
We heard Ashby unlock the front door and he tried to turn on the light, but when it didn’t work he started yelling for his butler.
He walked further into the house and stopped in front of the living room, looking down the hall while I was watching him from the chair.
The guys were on either side of the door frame, inside the living room, so Ashby had no idea that they were here.
He was yelling for his butler and getting no response before he turned to see me sitting in the living room.
“I’m sorry. I had to get rid of your butler for a little while.” I said.
“And who might you be?” He asked, grinning widely as he walked into the living room.
So I crossed my legs as he started walking closer into the living room and suddenly Harry threw a baseball bat out from behind the door frame and he knocked Ashby’s legs out from underneath him.
Suddenly the three guys were standing over him.
Harry with the baseball bat, Lucas with brass knuckles on and Jax with a thick chain that would do a lot of damage when it actually hit someone.
“Do you know why we’re here?” Lucas asked as I stood up and walked towards them.
“Because of Jack.” Ashby said.
“Jack who?” I asked, cautiously.
“Jack Mitchell.”
Everyone turned to look at me and I froze where I was standing.
“Jack’s dead.” I said.
“I know he is. I assume that you’re here trying to get me to give your father his shares in Lagoon stocks. The stocks that I am now controlling since Jack died.” Ashby said.
“Jack gave you his stock?” I asked.
“Not exactly. Everything was up for grabs because he wanted everything to be auctioned after his death. He didn’t want his daughter to get her hands on any of his money.” Ashby explained.
So all the guys looked at me again and I took a step bath, trying to control my emotions.
I started taking deep breaths when I nodded at the guys.
“Well, you really should have given William the stock. Because then we wouldn’t be here. But now you’ve just pissed all of us off by telling us the truth.” Lucas said.
They all started using their various weapons to start beating Ashby. He was getting beaten so badly that he was bleeding from everywhere and when they were finished, they turned to look at me.
I just stepped over his body on the ground and walked out the front door.
The guys followed me and Lucas called an ambulance as we got in the car and left.
The goal was to hurt him, not kill him. And they beat him to within an inch of his life.
It was a quiet drive home. None of the guys wanted to talk to me, because I didn’t know what the hell I was going to say to them.
My father auctioned everything just so I wouldn’t get my hands on them. But then that got me wondering, where the hell did all that money go.
