CHAPTER 54
As I stood there staring at Grace walked up to me like nothing had happened.
“Hi Harry.” She smiled. But I stood there and glared at her. I had nothing nice to say to her after what she did to Skylar on that last day that we saw her. “Listen, I know that we ended things on a bad note. But I am back now and there are things that we need to discuss.” She said.
“We don’t have anything to discuss.” I said.
“My father would like to talk to you and Lucas and Jax.” She said, smiling sweetly while reaching out and moving her hand up and down my arm.
I looked over at her hand and I grabbed a hold of it and pushed her backwards.
“Don’t touch me.” I demanded.
“Don’t be like that. We’ve both had our differences in the past, but I thought that we could get past all of that.” She said.
I just rolled my eyes and I was about to walk away when she stepped in front of me, not letting me walk away unless I knocked her to the ground. And believe me, I was getting ready to.
“You’re not still hung up on Skylar, are you?” She asked.
“Get the fuck away from me Grace. That’s the last time I’m going to warn you. And if you go near Skylar again, I won’t be asking a friend to take care of you. I’ll do it myself.” I threatened.
Grace stared at me and her face started changing red as her temper started to appear. The Grace that we really know and I looked down the hallway to see Madison standing there looking really nervously down at us.
She’d stayed right the hell away from us while Grace was gone, which had me wondering about the whole dynamic of their group and if Madison really was in charge or if Grace was giving the orders and Madison was carrying them out.
But without any warning Grace leaps forward and embraces me in a really tight hug like her life depended on it.
“Don’t forget Harry. We have private things to discuss later.” Grace said. But I stood there with my hands out to the side wondering what the hell was wrong with her and why she was touching me.
I hated having her near me, let alone touching me but I wanted to adhere to my unspoken rule of never hitting a woman so I pushed her off of me and she stumbled back a couple of steps and that’s when I saw Skylar standing at the door of the classroom.
And then it all made sense. That’s why she hugged me.
She saw Skylar so she hugged me and said that shit to me to put me in a bad situation.
Grace regained her balance and composure and she looked at Skylar with a wry smile on her face. But Skylar just smiled back at her with a lot of disdain in it.
Skylar was looking at her like she was a complete fucking freak or a clown or something. Which is not the reaction Grace was expecting from Skylar.
So she looked at me who was just standing there, trying to look as innocent as possible to Skylar, but Grace seemed to snap at that moment and she lunged for Skylar. So I grabbed Grace around her waist and I threw her to the ground and stood over her.
“I warned you not to go near her. You’re not just dealing with her anymore. Us three will kill you or anyone else that tries to hurt her.” I threatened her.
I then felt something on my arm and I turned to look and Skylar was standing there, holding my arm and making sure that I didn’t go any further or hurt Grace.
I looked at her face and she looked completely calm and fine. She didn’t seem angry or anything. Once again, taking me by surprise by how far she’s come since we first met her.
I wanted so badly to tell her how much I loved her. Right here and now, on the spot. But I stopped myself. This wasn’t the place and if I was going to say that to someone, I was going to make it a hell of a lot more special than this.
When school was over that day we all gathered together out the front of the school and started walking towards the car in the parking lot.
We were talking about everything that had happened today and I told them all about Grace and what happened this morning.
I didn’t want to tell them while we were still in the building, especially at lunch time, otherwise they thought it would be a good idea to go looking for her.
But they were definitely interested in her father wanting to talk to us. We could only start to imagine what the hell he has to say.
As we were walking towards the car we all started joking around and messing with each other. Lightly teasing each other and Skylar went running after Lucas because he was teasing her so he started running while she went running after him.
Jax had to get involved as well but as we were getting closer to the car I noticed another car parked over the road.
It was a familiar looking car but I couldn’t quite remember where I had seen it from before. It was parked up the road a little bit, near the corner, but I know that I knew it from somewhere.
Oh well, there’s no point dwelling on it. It’s actually a pretty popular car so I just walked on to where the others were.
I saw that Jax and Skylar had ganged up on Lucas and had pinned him to the ground in front of the car.
I just laughed at them before I opened the car and they finally let go of Lucas and we all got in and we drove away from school.
I was choosing to enjoy the cheerful atmosphere at the moment. Something that I had missed so much this past month.
I didn’t want anything to ruin it for me and I wasn’t going to ruin it for the others. Especially not Skylar who was actually laughing and having a good time again.
