CHAPTER 117

LUCAS POV

Jax and Skylar are hard at work in the training room again. Watching Skylar from the window, I couldn’t help but feel proud of her. She’s really getting it together and learning how to take care of herself.

It was something that we weren’t expecting to happen for a long time yet. But she’s been really dedicated to her training. She’s always said that she doesn’t want to be a burden on us or too dependent on us. She doesn’t want us to get hurt because she can’t take care of herself.

Watching the way she keeps knocking Jax down, I’d have to say that she’s getting really good at that goal. But that doesn’t mean I am leaving her alone as long as my father knows that she’s here.

If he ever finds out that it’s her in that photo, he will come at her with everything he’s got. He has such a strange fetish and to know that one of the objects of his infatuation is living with his own son would be like a dream come true for him. And I am never going to give him that chance.

“Lucas. Where’s Jax?” Harry asked, coming to the kitchen.

“Training with Skylar. Why?” I asked.

“Because I think I have an address for that beach house. I’m going. You can come or you can stay. But I’m leaving now.” Harry insisted from the doorway.

“Well, Jax won’t want us to leave him out of it.” I said.

“He’s busy. I told you. I’m leaving now.” He said, leaving the room.

So I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote a note for Jax before I ran after Harry and caught him as he was getting in his car.

We left the house and he started heading straight out of the city towards the ocean.

We drove along the highway near the ocean for about an hour in complete silence. Harry wasn’t saying a damn word or telling me anything.

I wanted to know how the hell he found out about this beach house and who owns it and everything, but he wasn’t telling me anything.

I was getting really nervous the longer we were on the road but we finally got to a house that was right on the side of the ocean and we stayed parked across the street when Harry pulled out a massive camera so he could look through the lens and so he could take pictures of everyone coming and going.

We saw a lot of people coming to the house and some looked somewhat familiar to us but not really. Not until my father pulled up out the front and we looked at each other.

He now officially had my attention. But I knew that Harry was looking for the bastard that killed his parents, so he was going to take photos of everyone that pulled up outside of this house.

I looked around the neighborhood, and it couldn’t even be called a neighborhood. The house we were looking at was a massive white house set on the beach and it looked like it fit right where it was.

But there were no houses around it. There were open fields around the house and the nearest neighbor was barely visible from where we were.

I felt like we were sitting ducks out here and I knew that we had to find somewhere to hide before someone saw us.

I really thought Harry was smarter than this, but he was being fueled by blind rage right now.

I was looking around frantically to make sure that no one was approaching the car. Making sure that no one spotted us. It was worrying me a lot.

I wanted to see who was going inside the house as well but I couldn’t. I had to watch our back and make sure that we weren’t made.

Another car pulled up outside the house and it looked like it might be the last car, but we couldn’t be too sure.

Harry took photos of the car, the license plate and then of the man that got out of the car.

He quickly put the camera down and threw it on to the backseat of the car.

“What?” I asked.

“That’s him.” Harry said, getting out of the car.

“Wait. What the hell are you doing?” I asked, but he didn’t answer me or turn around to look at me.

I opened the glove box and grabbed a gun that we had stashed in there and I got out and went after Harry.

He ran straight up to the house and the front door was still open, so he snuck inside the door.

I caught up to him and I stopped him in the entrance of the house.

“What the fuck are you doing? Did you look for security or cameras or anything?” I asked.

“I want that asshole.” Harry said.

“Do you want to die because of him? Do you want to leave Skylar alone?” I asked.

“She’s got Jax with her. And you can leave at any time.” Harry said.

I saw that he had pure determination in his eyes and nothing I said was going to stop him from going after what he wanted.

I had no choice but to have his back. I wasn’t going to let him die because of this.

We walked through the bottom floor of the house, clearing each room as we passed it and we came to a much larger room at the back of the house.

We looked out the back to see a whole group of people sitting under a gazebo that was at the end of a wooden walkway towards the ocean.

Harry and I suddenly heard a gun cocking behind us. So we turned around and there was a guard standing there pointing his gun at us.

“Now do you see why we check for guards?” I asked.

“Shut up. There were none out the front.” Harry said.

“Outside.” The guard ordered. So we looked at each other and shrugged.

He didn’t tell us to put our guns down. Did he not see them or was he just an incredibly stupid guard?

We walked out the back door of the house until we were on the patio of the house and he started pushing us towards the wooden footpath.

Harry then turned around and pulled his gun up from his side and shot the guard in the chest, causing him to fall straight back.

We then heard shots coming from another direction and I looked to the side of the path where more guards were running at us with guns.

I started shooting back while trying to hide behind a section of the wall that would keep me safe, but Harry didn’t care.

He ran straight down towards the gazebo. None of them seemed to have guns and the women were screaming while the men were looking really pissed about the intrusion.

I could just imagine the look on my father’s face right now as he saw Harry.

But I was holding off the guards that were coming towards us. There was a lot more than we realized.

I looked up and Harry had made it to the gazebo, holding a man by the collar and I saw him shoot him straight in the head. And that man fell to the ground.

That was the last guy that arrived at the gathering. But then he turned around and he froze where he was.

I was still trying to hold off these guards and Harry was just standing there staring at someone while my dad was screaming at him and the women were fleeing across the beach.

I didn’t know what was wrong with him, but I saw him pull his phone out at one point.

What the fuck was he doing?

When he managed to shoot his way back to the house, we ran through the main house and out the front door.

We got in his car and got the hell out of there.

We saw guards coming after us and my phone started ringing with my dad’s name on the screen. So I kept rejecting it.

The same men got in their car and started following us. Shooting at our car and Harry was trying to avoid being shot at all times while I was shooting out the back window and the side of the car where I was sitting.

“You are such a fucking idiot.” I yelled.

“Just get rid of them.” Harry yelled.

“They know where we live. I don’t think it really matters anymore.” I yelled.

We took every shortcut that we could possibly imagine until we got home and we never managed to get rid of them. So we pulled up right out the front of the house and ran inside the house and slammed the door shut.

Skylar and Jax came to the living room to see what the hell was going on when a bullet came straight through the window and I saw Skylar fall behind the couch.

What the fuck has he done?
