CHAPTER 119
The rest of the trip was very quiet in our car. I didn’t want to look at the picture of my father anymore, so I put Harry’s phone down and I refused to even look at Harry.
I wasn’t sure of what happened, but when he said that he found the beach house I knew that he went there looking for the man that killed his family.
That meant that because of whatever he did, he led those men back to us and almost got the whole lot of us killed.
And I don’t even know what happened to Lucas while they were at the beach house. But Harry was the only one with proof that my dad was alive. So he managed to get close enough.
I can’t imagine the guards would have let them get close enough without a fight. But Harry managed to and probably left Lucas in a really horrible position when he did it.
To be honest, I don’t even know if I’m happy or not to know that my father is alive. But now I know that I’m on the run with Lucas and Jax all because Harry couldn’t wait to get his payback.
He wanted that bastard dead, so now he’s dead. And it almost got all of us killed in the process.
We finally arrived in a strange city near dusk and I was happy to finally get out of this car.
Lucas was in the lead car and he took us to an apartment building that had a doorman and everything, but we parked the cars underneath the building and we got out of them and stretched our legs.
When we got in the elevator Lucas had to scan a keycard for the elevator to take us up to the penthouse.
“Are you sure they won’t find us here?” Jax asked.
“It belonged to my mother. Dad thinks I sold it. I told him that I sold it for this very reason. It’s under a different name and everything. They won’t look for us here.” Lucas said.
“Are you alright?” Jax asked, grabbing my arm.
I just nodded my head as I put my bag down and I started looking around the penthouse.
There were rooms everywhere and even upstairs to the penthouse that I went and checked out.
I walked over to a sitting area upstairs and I looked out the window as it was getting dark and I looked over the city with all the lights coming on.
Lucas came upstairs to see me standing by the window looking out and he leaned on the armrest of one of the chairs behind me.
“Harry told me everything that he told you. And right now is the first that I’ve heard about your father.” Lucas said.
“He didn’t tell you in the car coming back?”
“I was too busy trying to lose them.” He said, and I just nodded my head. Not even turning to look at him. “He told me what you said. And that the rest of the trip was silent. He was acting on impulse but can you honestly say that you wouldn’t do the same thing?” He asked.
“I just found out that my father is alive and your father knew about it. You don’t see me racing back there to finish them off, do you?” I asked.
“Good point.” He said.
I turned around to look at Lucas but I didn’t have anything to say right now.
I saw that the penthouse had a personal gym and everything, so that was going to come in handy.
I looked around to see how many bedrooms it had. I knew that I just needed to be alone right now.
There were too many thoughts going through my head and none of the guys should be around me right now.
So I found a room that had a bathroom across the hall from me and I put my suitcase against the wall.
I sat on the bed looking out of the large windows that gave me a great view of the city, but I used a remote control to close the blinds and I sat in my room in the dark.
I keep thinking back to that photo of my dad. He was just sitting there as Harry took the photo. I could see William in the side of the photo and he looked like he was screaming at Harry. But my father was just sitting there like he didn’t have a care in the world. Like he wanted me to find out.
I didn’t know how long I had been sitting in my room but I heard something being pushed under my door. So I turned the lamp on next to my bed and I walked over to pick up the envelope.
*These are the photos that Harry took outside the beach house. Maybe you might know some of the people.*
*Lucas.*
So I sat at the desk and I took the photos out of the envelope and I put them down flat on the desk.
As soon as I recognized someone in the photo I grabbed a marker from the drawer and I wrote their name on the back of the photo.
It actually worried me because I knew most of them. Including the man that was responsible for killing Harry’s family and his girlfriend. I knew him the whole time.
I put them back in the envelope and I stuck them to my door in the hallway as I walked across the hall to the bathroom.
I had a quick shower and I got dressed in a shirt and shorts before I went back to my bedroom and I closed the door again.
I sat on the side of the bed just staring off into space. I think I was in shock. I definitely wasn’t expecting Harry to tell me that my father was still alive.
I didn’t understand how he managed to get out of that car. I was right there. I was there until paramedics arrived.
How could he have survived that? It didn’t make any sense to me.
He must have had help to get out of the car, but again, I was right there.
But someone was also taking photos and I didn’t know that they were there.
Did they sneak over and get him out of the car when I went to meet the paramedics at the road? Does he have a guilty conscience or something? Is that why he is trying to tell me that my father is still alive?
I was trying to piece that whole night together, but it was so hectic that I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t remember the details that I needed right now.
All I knew was that he got out of that car and if he finds me now, I know that he’s going to finish the job that he started. It’s never going to be over with him.
I was much happier thinking that he was dead.
