CHAPTER 72
I sat there frozen as I stared at Kitty and all of her friends that I recognised because they used to come to the house all the time. They used to watch dad beat me. Some of them would egg him on. Some of them would encourage it. And if that wasn’t working, they would make up lies about me to piss dad off so that he would beat me.
It was all for entertainment and none of them had a soul. They were heartless emotionless monsters and when dad finally got rid of Kitty I was happy. But she was determined that I was the reason why dad got rid of her.
She didn’t realize that she was just one in a long line of women that he dated and he never kept them around for very long.
After my mother, I think his longest relationship was only about 6 months.
“Well, if it isn’t the little bitch herself. I wouldn’t bother showing her all these makeup tips, lady. It’s not like she can afford anything that you’re selling.” Kitty said, rather loudly and causing a bit of a scene.
I saw strangers staring at us as they were walking past and I put my head down, trying to hide the embarrassment.
“Actually, she can afford to buy this entire fucking store if she wants to. So, keep going.” Harry said to the lady that was helping me. She smiled at me and she pulled out some more samples.
“And who the hell are you? You look a little too important to be hanging around with this piece of trash?” Kitty asked, walking closer to us.
“I generally have a rule of not hitting women. But if you call her trash again, I’m very willing to forget that rule.” Harry said, folding his arms across his chest.
I could feel my heart start to speed up and my breathing was getting heavier.
The lady that was helping just looked at me like she felt sorry for me, but she also looked really pissed off about what this woman was saying about me.
“You got a great guy there.” She whispered to me. And I smiled at her.
I knew that I had a great guy. I was a little afraid of what was going to happen if Lucas and Jax showed up though. That would be a fight that I didn’t want to see. So I just took a deep breath and I controlled my breathing before I put my head back up to look at her.
“Kitty. Aren’t you meant to be trolling the mall for other rich men that like heartless women who encourage them to beat their own kids?” I asked. And Harry looked at me in shock.
“She did what?” Harry asked.
“Her and her friends. They got pleasure out of it. And if dad wasn’t in the mood to beat me, then they would make up lies about me so he would.” I said.
“I think it’s time for you women to leave.” Harry said, turning back to face them.
But the look on Kitty’s face was almost priceless. She looked livid and humiliated since people were now staring at her.
“And what do you think you are? You killed your father.” Kitty said. But I stared at her, confused.
“It was a car accident.” Harry said.
“She was driving.” Kitty yelled.
“It was still an accident. It’s not her fault that he was drunk and he didn’t have a seatbelt on.” Harry yelled back at her.
She looked at me even more disdainful and she was ready to say something else when Jax and Lucas showed up.
They got everyone’s attention and they walked straight past Kitty and stood next to me and Harry.
“Wow. You really are a little slut. I thought your dad was kidding. I never thought you’d end up with three boyfriends.” Kitty said.
“You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about Kitty. So why don’t you just fuck off.” I said.
“Wow. You’re finally sticking up for yourself. When the hell did that happen?”
“I guess I’m not that same pathetic little kid that you used to know when I was 13.” I spat at her.
“Speaking of you being 13, my brother really misses you. I’ll be sure to tell him that I saw you. And that you say hi.” She smirked at me before she turned around and walked away.
I grabbed a hold of Harry’s arm as I started having trouble breathing again but he just stood in front of me and did everything he could to calm me down.
“What did she mean by that?” Lucas asked.
“It’s nothing. Can we just go home?” I asked.
“No. We’re not letting a little tramp like that ruin our day.” Harry insisted. But I looked at him with pleading eyes, but I knew that he wasn’t going to budge on this.
He wasn’t going to let her ruin the day that they had planned and we weren’t done shopping yet. He insisted that we were going to stay and have a good time.
“I used to have a sister in law like that. Luckily my brother was smart enough to get rid of her.” The lady at the cosmetic counter said to me.
“Well, my dad got rid of her. She obviously heard that he died.” I said.
“It was pretty hot news. I mean, your dad was well known in this city.” Jax said.
“Yeah. I know.” I said.
“Look at me. It was an accident. We know that you didn’t kill your father.” Harry said, looking me in the eye. And I nodded my head.
We knew that we could have done more to help him, but we didn’t. He had a gun on me the whole time and I deliberately drove the car into the lake so I could get away.
I didn’t think it would kill him while I was coming up with the plan, it just did.
The lady at the cosmetic counter was really great and she showed her hatred towards Kitty for attacking a teenage girl who wasn’t doing anything to her. And after she started attacking me, the lady saw how I first responded and knew that I didn’t deserve it.
So she kept helping me and we found a lot of different shades of makeup that I liked and I had bought a hell of a lot of different products from her. Including skin care.
Afterwards, we went to a hairdresser and I got to choose what style I wanted and the color and everything.
The guys were being great, just standing back and watching. They were doing everything to please me today. And it felt really weird.
No one ever asked my opinion before but today was all about me and it didn’t feel right to me.
We spent the whole day shopping and then Jax and Lucas had to go and see William so Harry took me home.
