CHAPTER 65

JAX POV - FLASHBACK

After seeing the way Skylar’s father was at the hospital, I wasn’t able to stop thinking about her. I wasn’t sure if she was safe or not.
He looked really intimidating and he wasn’t fooling anyone with that fake smile of his.
Who the hell knows what he would have done to her because he looked pissed when he barged into the hospital room.
He only stopped when he saw me standing there.
So I managed to track down where she went to school and I stood out the front of the building waiting for the school day to be over and for her to come outside.
I only had to wait for a couple of minutes before the bell went off and kids were starting to spill out of the building with their friends.
But then I saw one girl that was all by herself, getting knocked around by the kids that were passing her but she just kept her head down and walked down the stairs.
When she got to the grassy area she finally put her head up and she saw me standing there.
I smiled at her but her eyes went wide and I knew that something was wrong.
“What are you doing here?” She asked, sounding almost panicked. I looked around and there were a lot of kids watching us. Especially the ones that were knocking her around.
“I came to make sure that you’re alright.” I said.
“I’m fine. But you can’t be here.” She said.
“Skylar. I know that your father scares you. It was pretty obvious from the hospital.” I said.
I saw her looking around everywhere and she started moving backwards when her eyes fixed on something behind me.
I turned around and I saw a black SUV on the road with a man in the front seat staring at us.
“Does he work for your father?” I asked.
“I have to go. I’m sorry. Please just stay away. It’s not safe for you to be near me.” She said, racing past me and she got to the SUV and jumped in the backseat.
I saw the guy in the front say something to her but I didn’t hear what it was.
They started driving down the road and I got in a different car that was parked further up the road and I told the driver to go. To follow the SUV so the driver did as I said.
We followed them through town until we got to the more expensive part of the city and we pulled up on the side of the road as we saw that car go into a driveway.
I got out and walked down the road to where the car had gone in and I hid behind the hedges that lined the street as a second guy got out of the backseat that I hadn’t seen before.
He pulled Skylar out by her arm and dragged her inside and slammed the door.
As soon as they were inside I checked out the perimeter to check for camera’s or any sort of security.
Once I spotted the cameras I stayed in their blind spots until I got to the house and I looked through a window next to the door.
Skylar looked like she was trying to run past her father, but he grabbed her by the arm and pushed her back through the living room and forced her to sit on the couch.
He had weird dark stains all over his white shirt, so he was unbuttoning it while Skylar was staring at him with fear filled eyes.
“So, they tell me that Jax was at school this afternoon.” Her father said.
“I didn’t know that he was going to be there. He was just checking on me. I promise. I told him to go away and leave me alone. You don’t have to hurt him.” Skylar started pleading.
I knew that her dad was scary, but this was unbelievable. She was really scared that he was going to hurt me.
“Why the hell do you have to make everything so fucking difficult?” He yelled out of nowhere, even causing me to jump and I wasn’t even in the house. The guards were standing at all doorways to the house and the two that had picked Skylar up were just a couple of the guards that he kept in the house.
“I’m sorry dad.” She said, looking down. But I could tell that she was trying to hold back her emotions.
“I don’t give a shit if you’re fucking sorry. Jax is the one that’s going to be sorry now. You should have just listened to me. He’s the one that’s going to pay for what you did. If you weren’t in that park then that bastard wouldn’t be in our lives. Do you ever think you bitch? Do you ever think about other people? What you’re actions are doing to other people?” He ranted at her. But she just kept her head down and didn’t say anything to him.
I could see that she was starting to shake and she was really scared.
There were so many men in that room and none of them were doing anything about what her father was doing. I knew she was in a bad place. I knew that she couldn’t stay with her father. I didn’t want to leave her with him.
“You know where that kid Jax lives. Go and pay him a visit.” Her dad ordered and several men headed for the front door, so I crept down behind the trees in the gardens that were near the door.
As soon as the cars took off from the property, I looked back up into the window and there were more men in the living room.
Where the hell did they come from? They just appeared out of nowhere.
Does he have a group of guards on standby or something?
Her father had finally put on another shirt and buttoned it up and he walked over and grabbed Skylar roughly by the arm.
“Get to your fucking room. I don’t want to see you again tonight.” He yelled in her face.
So she got up and ran through the doorway and disappeared into a different room.
I was about to go around to the back of the house to try and find Skylar’s bedroom when I saw two more men walking backwards into the room dragging a woman’s body who had been badly beaten.
It was blood on that prick's shirt.
The woman was wearing a maid’s uniform and she was dumped in the middle of the living room.
She wasn’t dead but she had been beaten really severely.
“Get up and get back to work. Start with cleaning up that blood.” He said as he walked out of the room.
That’s what Skylar was trying to run to when she got home. She was trying to get to the maid that was being abused.
I snuck around the back of the house and I saw Skylar sitting on her bed next to the window on the second floor.
She was crying, but she was trying really hard not to cry. I could tell that she was trying to control herself.
But lucky for me, there were vines climbing up the side of the house. So I started climbing them until I got to Skylar’s room and I pushed open the windows that weren’t closed all the way and she jumped up off her bed as I climbed in the window.
