CHAPTER 115

We sat there silently listening to the recording again to make sure that Harry was positive about the voice, but he knew who it was after the first time he heard it. He used to have nightmares about that voice. It was definitely the prick that killed his family and his girlfriend.

I now had a feeling that Lucas and his father showing up to save Harry wasn’t good timing after all. It was all set up. If William had this man’s phone number, then there’s no way he wasn’t behind it. Or at least knew about it.

He wanted Harry on his side so he had to get rid of Harry’s parents who he pretended to be friends with, and he was there for Harry as he grieved for his girlfriend, who he saw being killed right in front of him.

William had made himself out to be the good guy in all of this and didn’t really give Harry much of a choice but to work for him. He made Harry believe that he owed William.

He played him like a fucking fool but Harry knew the truth now.

“The beach house. Have you ever heard William talk about a beach house?” I asked Lucas.

“No. He’s never mentioned a beach house. But that doesn’t mean anything. If he doesn’t own it then I wouldn’t know about it.” Lucas said.

“He’s going to be there tomorrow. I need to know who that bastard is. I need a name.” Harry yelled, getting up so quickly that he knocked the chair over and caused me to jump. But I felt Jax’s hand on my shoulder to let me know that he was there.

“And I’ve got someone trying to track down names. But it’s going to take a while. Right now, we’re just listening to their conversations. I can’t do it from this end.” Lucas said.

“We have to find out where the hell they are meeting tomorrow. He’s going to be there. How many beach houses can be around here?” Harry asked.

“A lot. Especially if they’re willing to travel. We aren’t that far from the Hamptons.” Jax said.

“If you aren’t going to fucking help me, then I’ll do it myself.” Harry yelled, leaving the room. But before he did he punched a hole in the wall as he was leaving and we heard the front door slam shut.

“Are you alright?” Jax asked.

“Yeah.” I said.

Lucas shut his computer, knowing that it was a bad idea to listen to all of these conversations from so many phones, but he was still recording all of them so he could come back and listen to them while he was alone.

We heard Harry’s car speed away from the house and I walked towards the living room.

I looked out the front window and Harry was long gone, leaving me really worried.

I was scared that he was going to go off and get himself hurt.

“What if he goes to William’s house? That’s the only connection he has to the man that killed his parents?” I asked.

“Shit. I didn’t think of that.” Jax said.

“Let’s go. Skylar, you stay in the backseat of the car the whole time we’re there. Alright.” Lucas demanded. So I nodded my head and we all raced out of the house.

We got in Jax’s car and I sat in the backseat alone as he sped through the seats to get to William’s house, trying to cut Harry off.

But we weren’t that lucky.

When we got to William’s house, Harry’s car was already out the front. So Lucas turned around to look at me.

“We’re not under any lights or anything like that. So lie down on the seat and no one will see you. No matter what you hear, don’t get out of this car. I don’t want you going anywhere near my dad.” Lucas insisted.

“Alright.” I said.

So they got out of the car and locked the doors and I layed down on the backseat of the car.

I could hear yelling almost immediately and there were even a few guns that went off.

I almost jumped up when I heard that, but I knew that William couldn’t see me. We couldn’t risk that he would recognise me from those photos.

I was surprised that he hasn’t recognized me already. He’d seen me more than once and shown an interest in me. But I guess that was just him being a different kind of pig.

It seemed like I was in the car forever waiting for the guys to come back, hearing people running past the car making me hold my breath because I was afraid they would hear me.

But when Jax and Lucas got back to the car, they got in the front seat and drove off away from the house before I sat up.

I looked behind us and Harry was following in his car.

“What the hell were those gunshots?” I asked.

“Dad’s security team getting a little excited. They were already pointing them at Harry when we got there.” Lucas said.

“Did anyone get hurt?” I asked.

“No. I got Harry out of the way in time.” Lucas said.

“What’s your father going to do to Harry now that he knows that Harry knows the truth? He’s not going to leave him alone with that? I mean, Harry could tell anyone. William’s not gonna want that to get out.” I said.

“Don’t worry. I told dad that I would handle Harry. No one is going to find out.” Lucas said.

Jax’s phone started ringing so he put it on speaker.

“We’re being followed.” Harry said.

“Yeah. They’re probably making sure that we go home.” Lucas said.

“Or maybe they’re following us to kill us. We know too much.” Harry said.

“Trust me, dad isn’t going to hurt any of us.” Lucas said.

“You keep asking us to trust you but you never give us a reason. Tell me why I should fucking trust you?” Harry asked.

“Because I’ve got proof of every job dad has ever sent us on. I gave him copies of the proof and if anything happens to any of us then he’s going to go down harder than us.” Lucas said.

“Maybe you should just release it and get it over with. Then you three will be free.” I said. But Jax looked over at Lucas. “What am I missing?” I asked.

“We don’t actually have any money to run away with. Everything is on dad’s dime. We know that he has offshore accounts and as soon as I can get the account numbers then we can empty them and take off. New identities and everything. That’s been our endgame the whole time. But he keeps moving the money around so we haven’t been able to find it.” Lucas explained.

“And as soon as we get that money, the four of us are getting the hell out of here and never looking back.” Harry said.

I actually felt my heart swell a little when Harry said the ‘four’ of us. Which meant that they had no intention of leaving me behind.

I guess if they just wanted to get me away from my father then they would have already cut me loose. Dad’s dead and I’m not at risk of him anymore.

But they didn’t have any intention of leaving me behind or finding me somewhere else to live. They wanted me to stay with them.

I’d never felt more wanted in my life.
