Chapter 11: Desperate for Justice
Vincent Pov
I lit the cigarette in my mouth, the flame from the lighter filled the air. “I won't just stay back and Watch Davis succeed alone. I wanted his wealth so badly but as soon as he made it he abandoned me.” I said to myself.
I was still in my hiding place because the police were searching for me. I knew I had caused more problems to myself by running away from prison.
My phone rang. It was Ravenwood. “Did it work out as planned?” I asked.
“Nah, he knew we were up to something.” He said,
“I'll get him using another way.” I said, hanging up the phone call.
I decided to send a message to Davis using an unknown number.
Davis Pov
I stood on the stairs outside, surveying the area.
“You have a message sir.” Rebecca said, handing over my phone to me.
I took the phone from her, unsure of the sender.
Seeing the message I knew immediately that it was Vincent doing. All he wants is just to take over what I have, my wealth and everything I've got.
My eyes scanned the message on the screen of my phone. His words were dripping in malic. I turned to Rebecca. “Get the security on high alert, Vincent is planning to make a move, I need to know everything that he's up to.”
“Right away sir.” She nodded.
My mind raced with a counter attack as I looked at the message again. Vincent had no idea what I was capable of doing. “I will do anything to protect what is mine.” I muttered.
The sound of footsteps echoed inside the house. The prosecutor's voice came up. “We need to talk Davis.”
“What is it, prosecutor?” I turned to face him. I offered him a seat at the rooftop.
“What I have to say is about Vincent, we have proof and evidence that he's involved in your wife death.”
“What?” My heart raced with shock and anger.
Just then Vincent called with an unknown number. “How do you see the news.” He asked.
He obviously made it obvious he killed my wife so it will get me upset but I wasn't ready to back down.
I took a long drag of cigarette.
“You think you are better than me, right? You can't just yluse me and discard me, I won't let that happen.”
My face darkened with anger. “You're just a gold-digger, the one thing you care and worry about is you getting your hands into my wealth.”
Vincent laughed. “I admit you're right Davis, I want your wealth and I will get it.”
“The confidence you have in getting something that isn't yours is what amazes me. But you will never get it, I'll make sure of it.” I snarled.
“Let's see about that Davis.” He said.
I really don't know why I was exchanging words with him but I wanted to do that. “You're a monster, you can't just manipulate and use people. It's not going to work.”
“Oh, you think so, it already has.” His voice dripped with condescension. I've played you and you fell for it. You fell for the sinker, hook and line.” He said, laughing over the phone.
“Then you should boldly fine out and tell me that to my face.” I said. “I will take you down Vincent, you will pay for having something to do with my wife death. You will regret crossing me.”
“You know I always get what I want and what I want desperately now, is your wealth.” he chuckled a cold mirthless sound.
The procecutor tapped me to stop exchanging words with Vincent. I hung up.
“So what is the next move now?” I asked the procecutor.
“We just need to get to the bottom of this, the involvement of Vincent in your wife's death and now your wealth is obvious the top of the iceberg.” he sighed.
“I really want him brought down, he needs to pay for what he has done and what he's still planning on doing.”
The procecutor sighed. “We will work together to make sure that happens. All we need to do now, I gathering more evidence.”
The procecutor phone rang and he talked to someone on the phone before turning back to me. “My men discovered Vincent hideout. We need a proper time to strike.”
“I want you to do something.” He said.
“What is that?” I asked.
“I want you to meet with Vincent, we need to catch him in the act. We need more evidence.” The procecutor said.
“How I'm I to meet with him?” I asked.
“That's a good question. You will set a meeting between you both, while you are going, you'll be putting on a wire, which will record everything. In the case we can catch him incriminating himself. We need to get the record of his involvement in his wealth and your wife death.” he said.
That was a good idea. “I will make sure I do it and get him incriminating himself.”
“Can we set the meeting for tonight, we'll make sure we send the address to you, be there at midnight, make sure you're wearing the wire.” The procecutor said.
I will get the evidence I need tonight to bring Vincent down. I'll get justice for my wife death. “Nothing is expected to go wrong, I need my bodyguards to go with me.”
“My men will be hiding somewhere around there, there's no need to go with your bodyguard, he'll become suspicious.” the procecutor expression was reassuring.
I felt a sense of relief. “I'll meet with him tonight then.”
“Good, but you need to remember this is a danger operation, Vincent is a man without heart and he can do anything. He's desperate to do anything to get you. I and my men will be watching from distance.” The procecutor said, a hint of smile on his face. “Let's get justice for the death of your wife and bring Vincent down once and for all.”
